  1. OOOOHHH...so the old man more than likely donated the genetic sample and must have loved to walk on the other side of the street... “He might not be your boyfriend but methinks you want him to be,” Matt said confidently as he held up his hand when Brandon opened his mouth to deny it. “I saw the way you looked at him the other day and just now, I could see it all over your face, you like him.” Brandon stood there for a moment before he replied carefully, “It doesn’t matter if you’re right or not. Tyler is straight and no one says methinks anymore.” “I know the family, if he’s anything like his old man, he likes you back,” Matt informed him with a serious look on his face. Methinks someone might have an unrequited crush on Tyler “I guess, I like brunettes best, with shorter hair, in shape. I think I’m more of an ass and legs man than boobs,” Dylan said slowly as he stared out the window.
  2. Not that we don't see a lot of this today... @Jason Rimbaud, @ReaderPaul, @Paladin I'm enjoying the story and the comments. Please keep both continuing. Especially love the "fact checking" of fiction. I have to go with a theory we saw in a very early Star Trek episode called, "The Trouble With Tribbles". It would certainly explain the multiplication factor...
  3. It was rigged by all the fake news media...all those disenfranchised Disney characters along with a Muppet army are storming the capitol...
  4. Much happened in this chapter, some eerie coincidences to Richter's brother, the (soon to be?) emperor as a younger pup... "The funny part is, it was Alexander who told me." 74258 chuckled lightly, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly. "I suppose you could call him some kind of 'progressive thinker,' right?" The fox deliberately extended both paws out from the sleeping bag to make air quotes. "He liked to talk about how grand his plans for the future were." 74258's voice softened, and his tone became somewhat distant. "So many reforms, and all sorts of visions, piecing together a beautiful blueprint... No, not a blueprint." The fox gently closed his eyes, his lips curling into a faint smile again. "A dinner table. He always said it was a round table, one where everyone had a seat." And the universal quest for the freedom to choose the life one wants to live...and with a partner of mutual choice...
  5. Not a passive/aggressive moment in here...not!!! Giving the signed copies of my books to Venetia when we arrived had, as predicted, gone down like a lead balloon. So, I was curious when she told all and sundry, in a very artificial voice, how delighted she was that I had brought her signed copies of my books. She might not appreciate my poetry, but she knew how to display her scalps, it seemed. Inevitably, Tania wanted to know if I was working on a new book and I admitted that I was writing but that I didn’t know when, where or how I would manage to publish another collection of poetry. At which Rolf rather pointedly asked me whether there was any money in it, did I make a living from writing poetry? The cheek of it, why do people think that just because I work freelance in the arts, they are entitled to question my income? My initial response would have been ‘and how much do you bloody earn’, but I had enough self-control, just about, to restrain myself and not say that. Instead, I gave a derisive snort and said that the money varied, but before I go any further Vince had extricated himself from conversation with Tania, turned to Rolf and said that I worked hard at my writing and that would Rolf be comfortable if we asked the same question of him? Then Rowena rather sharply and brightly added, perhaps we should have a show and tell to discuss our different incomes and the perils of being freelance. Felicity disguised a laugh as a cough, but the others looked more than somewhat annoyed.

    Chris

    So sad....
  7. Interesting, what about adults or is it only teens and pre-teens with asthma and cancer who survived?

    Prologue

Well, the scene has been set, and the actors had assumed their final positions...Why am I reminded of the following???

    Chapter 8

Much to sort out and take charge of, then there is the matter of an heir for Reginald....
  12. New complications, will they impede their escape?

    Bound and Betrayed

It would seem that there is discontent from a few malcontents, or is it the entire crew that is tired of the Captain?

    The Story

Not sure how I missed this story but have to say well done. My father and uncles both served during WW2 and my mother's father served in WW1. Rarely, unless alcohol was involved, would any of them talk about their experiences. I found this to be compelling and O so true to life!!
  15. So many great stories...so little time...wait...I'm retired!!!
  16. I think in the next arc, part 3 we will see the following at least once...I strongly suspect that's a box of diamond dust.....

    Sacrifice

Hopefully Arlo gets some much-needed rest whilst he is slumbering dead....
  18. When will Val and Marina finally come to find out they have lost both of their children due to their supposed child rearing abilities. Do they realize their sons see their parent's duplicitousness? To me, Val and Marina see their offspring as attachments, not fully functional miniature humans... And as noted, the boys will find a way...hopefully it will be drilled into their heads, both big and small, that discretion, is the better part of valor...
  19. Such a sad chapter, I agree with the comments above and the responses. Frank is going to need time to process what has happened to him, and how he is treated/cared for by his family. Speaking of Miss Brittany and Victor, I wonder if both don't deserve each other...

    The Decisions

I think the first meeting will be very telling for Marcel, simply can't imagine what must be going thru that poor boy's head...
  21. Well that's a fine mess the boys have gotten themselves into... While Surströmming @Danners, is a potent, foul smell, my maiden great aunts used to cook lutefisk in a pressure cooker to rehydrate it, that is, until they neglected the pressure cooker, When it popped and coated the kitchen ceiling. They had to replace the ceiling as they never could get the smell out....
  22. Well done, I did not see this coming, in fact I was very suspicious of "The Mayor"...I'm trying to figure out his motives and what he gains, is it purely altruistic? After meeting with the mayor, we had another option--visiting Little Rock, the largest free imperial city in the Count of Arkansas's territory. We had done some research; the Green Katydid Estate wasn't a well-known winery there, but if it's meant to serve as a front for some kind of underground organization, it seems to be just the right level of obscure. The mayor did mention the "railroad," right? And he hinted that he knew the drone malfunction was our doing. 74258 and I had discussed it, and we both reached the same conclusion--that Labrador deliberately fed us information. So, the only question left is, can we trust him? I suspect the boys will be tasked with forwarding/carrying information to people on the other side of the border...or is this an attempt to trace all the tendrils of "The Railroad"?? And for something completely out of left field, I saw this in the paper today....truly a sad commentary.... National Park Services removes references to Harriet Tubman from ‘Underground Railroad’ webpage | CNN
