This is the dime store western of my boyhood with a twist. In those stories the cowboy won the shootout and the gal. Here there ain't no gal and the only shootout occurred just before the story begins. That shootout has ramifications though for two young men. It is the impetus for one of them, Boone, to seek out the life he dreams of and for his best friend, Coy, to decide what it is he wants from life. Like most westerns there's also a cantankerous mule ...
Mum mentioned yesterday that in about 10 months we'll start decorating for next Christmas. On Saturday I'll pack away the last of the decorations we put out for this Christmas past. I arranged artificial greens and candles on the top of the china cabinet and at the top of a niche in the front hall. It was a long ago tradition tha the halls would be cleared of holiday greens before Candlemas on 2nd February.
We had beef vegetable soup and crusty ciabatta bread. I made the soup in the crockpot on Sat. then left it age overnight. We'll have it again Tues. or Wed.
