  2. Actually, Gary, the point of the blog is up to the reader. I'm researching NAFTA, and I'm adding the debate one part at a time so that people can watch (if they want to) and make up their own minds. I have my own opinion so far, especially about the fact that Al Gore, who claims that George Bush betrayed America, is so in favor of this agreement. But I'll save it for later, when I've had more time to do my research and make an informed post about the pro's and cons of NAFTA. Also, as a side note, right now isn't the best time for me to add any personal commentary. Feeling the way i do right now, I'm afraid I'd tell the truth and start a flame war with an entire website dedicated to men 55 and older and their weirdo opinions on how AIDS is spread and what safe sex means.
  3. Info on NAFTA included below http://youtube.com/watch?v=K1tHV_fztR4 The North American Free Trade Agreement (Spanish: Tratado de Libre Comercio de Am
  4. Haha...it was that day
  5. Probably the same thing that's wrong with Bill O'Reilly and they probably have the same type of audience.
  6. I'm never assertive at inappropriate times 0:) Just ask around
  7. It seems like he cared about the nation but no one was taking him seriously. We could use someone like him today. :ranger:
  8. I'm with Krista too...I run. To me there's nothing like a long, treacherous jog to get something out of my system or to give myself a pick me up. Of course lifting weights or going to the beach work too, and sometimes when I'm really depressed and can't come out of it, I write something. Anything. It doesn't have to be a story, or a poem. It can be a letter to someone you care about, or who you want to get something off of your chest to. Of course, there's always chocolate :ranger:
  9. Finally, after two long months of making my initial request, I can finally say that my work is mine again. I'm not going to mention a domain, but what I will do is caution other authors to be careful where they ask to have their work hosted. Not all site owners will be as willing to take your stories down, and the process could take several weeks. It hasn't been fun, and unfortunately, this morning I had to be very assertive about what I wanted. And as everyone here knows, I hate being assertive. I'm now one step closer to my goal of having my work hosted exclusively at Gay Authors, which in hindsight, is the only site I should have ever committed to in the first place. I certainly wish all other sites good luck, but I think that in order to be the best, you have can't be on a second rate site with second rate authors. And if it isn't GA or one of its affiliated sites, it's second rate. _______________________________________________________________________________________ So I've made a new goal for myself this summer. On top of working and earning as much money as I can, and besides writing and churning out stories that people want to read, I've decided to research NAFTA so that I can form an educated opinion on the issue. It seems to me that NAFTA has been a disaster for the United States and its working class sector, but for some reason, it's been supported by democrats and republicans alike. In fact, in 1993, Al Gore debated Ross Perot on CNN in favor of ratifying NAFTA. Here's part one of that debate. http://youtube.com/watch?v=GhwhMXOxHTg
  10. haha, no but I can't help but think about him every time I smell vomit. Was it a band called Wilson Phillips? They're pretty damn hardcore. You know what else is hardcore? Wearing an abstinence belt while you surf the internet.
  11. As soon ans I heard that Pamela and Tommy Lee were getting back together, I figured you'd be back Tyler2. :jerry: I was thinking about driving up to Michigan this summer in search of a perverted, overweight pro wrestler....wanna come?
  12. NBC's Tim Russert Dies at 58 AP Posted: 2008-06-13 15:54:47 Filed Under: TV News, Nation News WASHINGTON (June 13) - Tim Russert, host of NBC's "Meet the Press" and its Washington bureau chief, collapsed and died at work Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 58. Russert, of Buffalo, N.Y., took the helm of the Sunday news show in December 1991 and turned it into the most widely watched program of its type in the nation. His signature trait there was an unrelenting style of questioning. Washingtonian magazine once dubbed Russert the best journalist in town, and described "Meet the Press" as "the most interesting and important hour on television. He also wrote best-selling books, "Big Russ and Me," in 2004, and "Wisdom of our Fathers," in 2006. This year, Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Russert also was a senior vice president at NBC. Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. 13. Yeah, we must be talking about different topics. The one I was referring to was on Awesome Dude. I'm not sure which topic you meant.
  14. Assuming that they aren't having sex with anyone else, ever again after they have sex with someone who they know is HIV+, I can see the point that they weren't acting irresponsibly. But let's be realistic....if someone is ignorant enough to sleep with someone they know is HIV+, they're most likely ignorant enough to believe that they can sleep with others without disclosing what they've done and that it shouldn't be an issue. And in the other thread, there's only one person arguing that it's not safe for those who are HIV+ to sleep around. Here's an excerpt from a recent post on that discussion topic The poster goes on to say, among other things, that saliva kills HIV. The poster also mentions that it's safe to have anal sex with no condom with someone who's HIV+ as long as you pull out and there are no legions present. I know that these are two separate forums and two separate topics, but since it was brought up again, I figured I'd point a few of the unfortunate myths out that people seem desperate to believe.
  15. Not a fan of Rush at all. I used to like the Steve Miller Band, but now I realize how much they suck.
  16. I love Pink Floyd. My problem is that if I listen to The Wall, I tend to close my bedroom door and not come out for a week while I go through all the emotional changes that listening to it brings out in me.
  17. Well, depending on whose perspective you look at things through, most of us are beginners. I certainly don't consider myself to be a pro at all. I'm certainly willing to help newer authors, but in my opinion, I'm still learning too. That's not why I release my chapters one at a time, but I think it's important to point out that in our own way, I think we're all still 'budding' writers. In fact, I'd argue that even those who are seasoned and 'established' still learn something new from time to time. I don't take suggestions from my forums. If someone offers me an opinion, that's fine. I have beta readers and an editor to tell me what I'm doing wrong and doing right. As a matter of fact, before I started posting If By Chance, I made it a point not to read the discussion topic for a story I had in progress. That's the easiest way for me to be influenced by my readers about which way to take the story, which would ruin the art of crafting the story for me. In the end, my readers would be the ones who would suffer. That's a chance we take as authors. I'd only be willing to pour my heart and soul and time into a story if I owned the plot from start to finish, without taking direction from others. All I can do is hope that my readers enjoy the story and think that it was worth their time to read. I think the purpose of the reader forums is for the readers to talk about the story, speculate what might happen, and have fun with the process. When Dom Luka was writing Dessert Dropping, we (the Domaholics) separated into camps depending on who we wanted the so-so cousin to wind up with and who we wanted the main character to end up with. It was fun, and the story had its own life. We probably wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves as much if all 35 chapters had been released at once. The story would have been great, but the experience wouldn't have been the same. Well, I consider the story ready to roll when I can read the first chapter and not want to vomit. If I get flames, I'll know I was wrong. If not, then I can assume I did something right I can agree with that statement, and while GA has its own method of sorting that out, I think that in the end, the individual author has to make that call for themselves. Some authors think they're already there, and that's cool. I think I have a lot to learn still, and hopefully I can keep learning. I have 5 finished chapter stories and 9 short stories posted, so in case anyone doesn't want to read an unfinished story on my page, they have options.
  18. IS that the group that sings Art of War??
  19. What's sad is that over in another forum, I'm actually having to debate the fact that it's safer not to have sex with someone who's HIV + than to use a condom or engage in oral sex. I'm constantly amazed at how people can fool themselves into believing what they want so they can justify their irresponsibility.
  20. Dick Cheney says........ On the other hand, according to Al Gore....... Sometimes I think we live in an alternate reality.
  21. By Tommy Christopher Jun 11th 2008 11:38AM Filed Under:eHillary Clinton, Democrats, 2008 President, Media, Bill Clinton Bill and Hillary Clinton, and their supporters, are compiling and maintaining an "enemies list," according to a report by the NY Times' MARK LEIBOVICH: Doug Band, chief gatekeeper to former President Bill Clinton...keeps close track of the past allies and beneficiaries of the Clintons who supported Mr. Obama's campaign, three Clinton associates and campaign officials said. ... As the Obama bandwagon has swelled, so have the lists of people Clinton loyalists regard as some variation of "ingrate," "traitor" or "enemy," Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe admits to the existence of the list, but swears it's not for revenge. Of particular interest was this passage: The news media have already focused on some list entries, ... Matt Drudge , ...Todd S. Purdum of Vanity Fair (the author of a recent profile of Mr. Clinton) and the cable network MSNBC (whose hosts Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are charter list members, Clinton associates said). Keeping an "enemies list" might seem like an exercise in futility when you consider that everyone on it is also on the President's "friends list." Let's set that aside and take a look at who might be on the list, and whether or not they deserve it. The term "Enemies List" is very clear political shorthand for a revenge list, referencing a Nixon-era list that then-White House counsel John Dean explained was for the purpose of "us(ing) the available federal machinery to screw our political enemies." Here's hoping that the Clintons' list (actually a loose consortium of lists) is a good bit less sinister in its execution. Name: Bill Richardson Designation: Traitor/Ingrate Deserving: Totally. Bill Richardson was Hillary's trump card with Hispanic voters, and has benefited greatly from his relationship with the Clintons. I would argue in Richardson's favor if he had made the endorsement in enough time to actually help Obama, but by waiting until after Obama had lost California made the whole thing smack of opportunism. Name: Senator Claire McCaskill Designation: Traitor Deserving: No. Although, as a female politician, she owes Hillary a debt of gratitude for being a trailblazer for women, her support for Obama has been coupled with a respect for Hillary Clinton. Name: Matt Drudge Designation: Enemy Deserving: Yes and no. Drudge made his bones on the Clintons' misery, but then Hillary's campaign tried to court a relationship with him, only to have it backfire. They should have never taken him off that list. Name: Iowa Designation: Ingrate Deserving: Yes. They get to vote first no matter what, wielding disproportionate influence over our elections. That's enough for me. Name: MSNBC Designation: Enemy Deserving: No. While Chris Matthews, and others individually, may have deserved some Clinton ire, on balance the coverage on MSNBC was fair. Name: Todd Purdum Designation: Enemy Deserving: Yes. His recent Vanity Fair article, "The Comeback Id," may have contained some useful information, but it was swimming in a sauce of smears and innuendo. Name: Black People Designation: Ingrates Deserving: No. Even if you accept the premise that Bill Clinton did more for black people than any other president in US history, that's a pretty thin ledger. Name: Ted Kennedy Designation: Traitor Deserving: Yes. It wasn't so much his endorsement of Barack Obama, but rather his mean-spirited lobbying against the Dream Ticket, that did it for me. Unless she is elected to the Vice Presidency, Hillary's political clout might render this list more of an amusing parlor game than a reason to quake and tremble. But as Hillary is quick to remind us, don't ever count her out. Others said to be on the list: Representative James E. Clyburn of South Carolina Members of the DNC rules committee Anthony Lake, former national security adviser Susan Rice, former White House and State Department official Joe Andrew, SuperDelegate and former chairman of the DNC Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota Gov. Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas Caucus States Arithmetic Youtube Sinbad
