  1. Glad you got to read this one Stan. Seems to be one of my lesser read works. Managed to really have some fun due to my influences.
  2. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
  3. Mark, You are one of the strongest souls I know. Your life hasn't been easy but you are seeing things that you never knew existed. Just take each day as it comes and remember a few simple things that are difficult for everyone. First you have to like yourself. If you don't how can anyone else. Second, what people say about you are just that, things people say. You give them strength or take it away. Only give strength to the ones that help you. Third, I've seen your picture, Nephew, and trust me you aren't a white slug, worm, or anything else. You are one handsome individual and life is just starting for you. Don't let a ghost steal your future. We all have image problems at one point or another, just take it in stride with everything else. Harcallard, Alright you have been going through a lot, and I'm sorry you found yourself at ends. However, tears aren't always a bad thing. Sometimes it is better to let that pain out. Glad to hear your bf was coming over later, but like others here you have found strength within yourself that you didn't know you had. Remember, you are a stronger person than you thought. Needing people doesn't make you weak, it just shows you are human, like the rest of us.
  4. Aww. Happy Birthday. Trust me it only happens when you are single that it sort of gets forgotten. Usually your partner takes over where your parents leave off and the college excuses to go out for it end. Still hope you have time to enjoy your day. It is only early afternoon. Maybe someone will take you out for dinner.
  5. Thanks Sam. Yeah, the buyers were something else shall we say. Ten E was lucky finding a way out.
  6. Thank you Percy. I'm proud of this one.
  7. Thank you. Yeah I never know where the prompts will take me or how people will enjoy them. Glad you like it.

    Chapter 1

Wow, you are making the rounds through my stuff Joann. Most of it is fairly light. Glad you enjoyed it.
  9. Ah Mark, There is an old saying, no one is an island. Talking to someone might be just what you need. The big problem is getting there. You lead a solitary life out on the farm. You aren't the type to jump in the car and spend hours walking through a city or town, meeting at the local pub, or hang out in crowded places. First off you can only work on what you want to. Not everything will come out, or at least not immediately. Like anything else you have have trust in your therapist. If they aren't working with you or for you, then move on. You know if you need someone to talk to, the thread is here, and you have me any time you need me.
  10. Thank you Daddy. Glad you enjoyed it. From dark roots beautiful things can grow.

    Chapter 1

Let me see. A prompt started Andy on a long story about dragons. A prompt started Cia on a long story about an alien. A prompt starts you on a long story about a poor guy who was in a cryo-tank. I'm bad aren't I? Enjoy. I will be waiting for the next chapter.
  12. Alright, I’ll admit it; I went out with Perez because he had hounded me for weeks. I mean it wasn’t like I had anyone else who was asking. But I mean it was Perez, for Christ’s sake. Look I know I am not a prize, but it was nice to have someone actually come after me to go out. I usually say I don’t have a type but Perez stretched that to its breaking point. We had to look like Mutt and Jeff walking out together. Face it; I’m six foot and nearly two hundred pounds. When you add in my age, well
  13. So a bit of a catch up. First - I missed the DC GA Get together. I have enjoyed reading the posts of those who went. At least I know those who attended had fun, just wished I could have been among them. Second - Well I got the results back. From what I understand I have an irregular heart beat. It is something they will be keeping an eye on. I also was put on blood pressure medication. The joys of getting older. Seems nothing is as easy as it use to be, but at least I am still here and pushing on. Third - Seems means I was sort of scared to do too much, so I did a hell of a lot of writing. Two prompt stories, a brand new fairy tale retold, a chapter of Jonas, and a few chapters of my Secrets Can Kill story as well were worked on. Life goes on but at least something came out of it. Fourth - Been cooking like no tomorrow but at least my neighbors are enjoying it. I made a chocolate chip banana bread, sausage and cheese herb bread, apple cinnamon pork chops, my version of spiced fries, and a pot of French Onion Soup. God, if food is the way to a man's heart, where the hell is he hiding. The joy of being a nervous wreck and needing to find something to do. Thank god the temps have been in the low seventies the last few days. Tomorrow they are talking the nineties. UGH. So been told to slow down, exercise more, and continue to lose weight. So that is all I have to tell you at the moment. Just remember, you only get one shot at life so enjoy it. Regret is a real pain.
  14. Most of the authors on here are prolific. New authors are joining all the time. I found that I couldn't keep up if I wanted to. Just enjoy what you can Bob. Your own story is more important. Records of a life well lived will always draw attention.
  15. It sounds like you all had a great time. I so wish I could have been there. Damn health scare. Next time for sure.
  16. “Because … how could you not know this was done to me?” Marya stopped cleaning her son’s cuts and sat beside him. “Devan, I am an intelligent woman. I know many things, but I don’t know everything. I am not the Goddess, nor am a Dracon. I wish I could say I was more than I am for you,” she paused as her son’s tear filled eyes focused on her, “but I’m still only your mother.” “But you are the Dracian, Watcher of the Eggs.” “That is my title, but it does not alter who I am or what I can or can
  17. Thanks Joann. Glad you enjoyed it. I write all sorts of stuff, but well sort of a sucker for a happy ending.
  18. Actually the names I gave refer to the same type of idea. On Long Island alone I can go 30 minutes in different directions and get nearly all the sandwiches including the poorboy. The poorboy on LI just usually means the bottom of the roll is torn out so the meat goes there and the dressing on the top. Then the sandwich looks thin like you were too poor to get much on it. lol. The joys of sandwich making. Roll choices do alter as you head into areas though. As for taters and fries they were the same thing at least when I headed down to Florida, say about 20 years ago now. They simply asked if you wanted your taters "crispy" or "baked".
  19. Welcome Scavola. Enjoy and I'm sure it won't be long till you are posting. Tomon, all I can say then is welcome back.
  20. Do I look like Cia or Andy. They both have stories that started as prompts and have become multi chaptered tales. I may or may not come back to this. I still have to finish Jonas. Glad you liked it though Gene.
  21. Glad you enjoyed it Joann. I never know what the prompts will end up becoming. I just wanted to do something different then what you normally encounter in the comic books. So Alice sprung up in opposition to that. Rob sort of showed up to give her someone to play off. Handsome, well he just had his whole life turned upside down. Glad it got your morning off to a good start.
  22. I'm glad Sam got you to give it a whirl. Anthologies are always interesting if for no other reason then the wide variety of ways the topic is taken and explored by the various authors. Wonder what you will come up with for the next one.
  23. Oh lord word choices become interesting. "Soda" and "Pop" are just one example. Depending on where you live do you have a "Sub", "Hero". "Grinder", "Torpedo", "Hoagie", or even a "Poorboy". I've been in restaurants where you can either order "fries" or "taters". Accents, dialects, and word choices all make part of the language.
  24. I was about to go on the trip I had planned for all year. It had been a rough year and I was looking forward to this trip so much. So seeing the bus about to run down myself and the ladies I was with just didn’t make it better. I guess I should back up a minute. I am one of those unlucky fools. I work far too much, date not at all, and find myself somehow barely keeping my head above water. The joys of having had my heart shattered twice before twenty two, taught me that being a
  25. Thanks Dolores. Always nice to know you are enjoying my work too.
