You have a twisted little mind. lol. Your death is so different from my own. I did a story on dream and death but lord you have a wild little tale there. That was incredible.

    Prompt #91

I'll say this for you, you don't shy away from your prompts. Seems like you are having fun and they are all so different. Going to have to see the original now to see how things are handled.
  3. I'll be the first to admit I am pretty good as a listener. However when it comes to sharing it isn't always as easy. You never know what is going to be the thing that sets off your depression. I am getting to be more and more health conscious and careful about what I do. My father is about to undergo his third surgery for skin cancer because he never wore hats, was always in the sun, loved his tans and all. Funny, but that isn't want sent me into a tailspin this week. Some know I am a big man, and I mean that literally. Deciding I didn't want to die stupidly, I began weight watchers to take it off. So far I've lost 30+ pounds. However meeting a blind date and being told you are old and fat does little to ease your self image. In fact I fell right off the wagon and sat down to eat. One thing about being depressed you don't worry about what you eat. For me that is a problem. It also robbed me of the desire to work, write, or do much of anything for a few days. I'm finally coming out of it again but yeah, small goals and steps are all I am trying.

    An apology

This whole week has been screwed up for me. I am trying to keep the smile in place but depression got its grip in me for a while and I can't focus. I'll be honest, I didn't want to focus. I wanted to wallow. However I am behind on beta projects, my story, and all. So for those following me or waiting on me, I apologize. I promise to get my butt back in gear. Was working on the beta projects and should have my story up on Monday. Again sorry gang.

    #112 — His Chair

I'm glad the format gave you the chance to spread your talents Em. Never know what you will find or how it will go. I liked this. You spot light the forgotten and overlooked. That is always powerful.

    Prompt #77

Aww. That is truly sad. I wasn't expecting that. I figured the meeting was to see how best to protect the egg not to see is smashed. Interesting use of the prompt though.

    # 94 Red Rose

Such a different look at the idea of love. Interesting use of the words as well. Seems each person takes these in their own direction. Nicely done Dolores, as usual.

    The Invitation

I liked how you used this set up. Very nicely done. Poor guy was so having a strange day. lol.
  9. Sorry Jack. Maybe next year when we move it north. lol
  10. Sorry Joe. Didn't mean to make you cry, but nice to know my words got through. Each one was its own haiku but taken together they tell a tale. Just showing how versatile the haiku format can be. Sometimes you just have to think a little outside the box.
  11. Like anything else, it is easy to draw from when you have been there. Just glad the story carried over through the haiku and you could understand it.
  12. Mark - Part of your issues are issues you inherited. Time will be a big marker in making change and getting better. Goals are good things to have. They keep you focused. It is when you are rudderless that things get bad. Acht - I recently lost my mother. I know what it is like to see the surviving parent flounder. My father needed time to accept it. They had been married for forty years and that sudden change alters how you live your life. The funny thing is he and I get along like fire and gasoline. However, time has shown he needs a hand and while he might wish it was my brother who would do it, he is stuck with me. The best you can do is offer a shoulder but don't forget you are human too and if you need one don't be afraid to ask for it either.

    Spring?

Usually I look for the first flowers of spring. Snow bells or crocus but neither is breaking through the ground yet. However it looks like the pussy willow will be cracking open any day now. Seems Spring is almost here. Very, very mild winter this year but not going to complain. Enjoy all.

    Chapter 5

Well if you read the original you got some idea but now you will get more details all along the way.
  17. Blind dates are things that no matter how much you might think they might be different, really shouldn't be done. I thought I had gotten out of mine but at the last minute it was back on. I was stupid I went. First off I made the mistake of saying yes. I knew he was younger I just didn't realize that meant being cold. Funny how no matter how much weight you lose, or how much better you feel, someone sees you and says the wrong thing - bam! It's back to square one. I always feel for a first date you go somewhere public where if either party is uncomfortable they can make a graceful escape. Hard to do however when the blind date isn't calm about it. "Wow! You're old and FAT! Can't date you. Bye" Great blind date. Let me tell you. At least it was short. Oh well. I have stories to write. So feeling down but won't let it put me out.
  18. I'm glad people are taking an interest in the prompts and even more grateful for the spotlights on those who take an interest in writing them. Some really great stuff has been written here in the prompts but because they are short no one seems to take the time to read them. In some cases they give a writer a chance to do something he wouldn't normally do, whether it is poetry or some aspect of writing they shy away from. The results of these prompts sometimes launch incredible stories that go far beyond what the prompt asked for. Hopefully as time goes on more writers will attempt them and more people will take notice of the hard work done on things so short.
  19. Sometimes the easiest way is to set short term goals you know you can meet. You want to make this in a month, or complete that project by this date. Setting a realistic goal and then going for it makes it possible. As you meet those you set the next to help build self confidence and to keep from sliding back too far.
  20. Feeling like I had let down Ms. White the first time we met, I made sure I was extra early for the orientation. I knew it was going to be a three hour course, but who knew it would be so boring. Ms. White left me in a little room with a video machine. The first movie was a sexual harassment film. I swear I think it was made when my parents were in grade school. Then she returned and I had to sign all this paperwork to show I understood. The second film was about the history of Kroger’s Emporium.
  21. LOL. As one of my boys it simply means guys I'm working with. You all range in age from 18 to 41. Makes me the old man, so
  22. I wouldn't worry about editors. I use enough of them myself. The good thing is I have come across ones like Frosty and Cia who manage to make my mundane stuff look good. But when I did Accidents Happen I can't tell you what I went through. Three editors and only two actually touched it. It was rough but keep going. As for promising, well, even I am not sure how that happened. Most of my "boys" have done various other projects as well. I just figure if I can get someone to read one thing they might just check out the rest. Besides I have enjoyed your stuff as well Joe and I've suggested other writers as well, like Percy.
  23. Well I think anyone goes through those spots, some more than others. I've got family that is bi polar. The highs are frightening and so are the lows. For some medication is the cure, others it is how they eat and handle day to day. But most of us, have to handle day to day. I know I hit the skids the other day and just wanted to curl up. It is hard to put yourself out there and harder still to be refused when you finally do. However life goes on. Mark - Writing and hobbies are ways of coping. Just don't hide and allow yourself to wallow too long. You know i'll find you and lord knows what I might send you to make you smile! Roan - Any problem you can share lightens the load. Face it, most of us at one point or another hid in the closet afraid of monsters as a child. We had to learn to share our fears and problems and find new ways to handle them other than hoping a light and a parent would rescue us. One thing about GA is there are enough of us at all different ages, and who have been through so many different things that there isn't much that can be discussed that someone can't relate to. We might not all be able to help but you won't often have to look far to find a willing shoulder if you need to cry. Rustle - Wisdom is always a good thing and glad to see you add your voice. YB - You would bedazzle a suit? No matter what happens you always find yourself the small fish in someone else's pond. The thing you learn is not to worry about trying to please others, but doing what makes your life worth living. Joe - We all deal with things and the darkness is a place many of us visit. Some due to bi-polar, others due to depression. The thing is we all need to keep fighting for the hope of something better.

    Prompt #95

So instead of hiding who they are in your mirror world the character comes out and asks the boy they love. Interesting use of an idea. Now care to link it to the prompt so everyone can read it? lol.
  25. The belt falls like rain Upon tender bare skin till Bruises fill in. Smack. Blossoms of pain are Erupting all over my Body. Bloody hurtful. Cries do not reach him As the leather breaks the skin And tears fall down. Help! An innocent kid Has lost his world to the shock Of alcohol. Drip! An easy target For his pain and failures. Oh, End it here. Black Out. Tenderly set in Bed to awaken never To be the same. Why? Because this was his Answer to his problems. Belt
