  1. Thanks. I took some advil and used a heating pad. Still feel a bit sore but I have work and need to get myself going.
  2. We all like to think we are superhuman. Nothing bad can happen to me. When things go wrong I can handle it. Okay, I'm old, I definitely know better but doesn't mean I don't delude myself on occasion. I can't pick up the pieces as they are shattered. I can't help everyone. I can't do it all. I'm human. I bend and if I am not careful I will break. Today showed me I am not as young as I use to be. Moved wrong and I pulled something in my back. I've found a few new words I didn't know as I tried to edge myself into a seat. My back has been having little spasms ever since. Who knew even sitting down could hurt? Anyway just going to try to finish up a little bit and then go to bed. Have a good one all.
  3. Gee, I hope if you make it people notice.
  4. Although it might benefit people to wait till you have revised them and then read them one after the other straight through to the end.
  5. Alright anyone who knows me, knows I have no problem trying to help others if I can. It was part of the reason I had originally become a teacher, to help others learn and enjoy what I loved. Trust me, this is just a round about way to get to a few subjects. First up - The Prompts. I enjoy creating them so much. I hope they inspire others to take a chance and just have fun with them. They shouldn't be a problem. The other thing is you should never feel like you are doing wrong because the prompt that spoke to you isn't one from this week. The prompts are there to help you explore new ideas, get away from the regular routine, rethink how to approach something, and most important, to have fun and let your imagination take flight. Secondly - There are many wonderful writers here. They fill so many gaps that exist in the published world. I enjoy taking the time to read some, but I will admit that lately I haven't had as much time as I would like to poke around and read. However when I do read anyone's work I do try to leave a comment. If you are expecting something cruel from me, forget it. If I do find an error in something I read, I do pm the author so they know and can fix it if they like, but I will never put that in a review to embarrass them. To me, that is just simple respect for others in my craft. Third - Publishing. I am proud to see various authors on here get their work published. If you find a publisher willing to take your work and put it forward I commend you. I know how hard it is to get that done, and have more than my share of rejection letters as well. Finally - I work as a writer and as a beta. For years I wrote and had a group of fellow authors who passed their work back and forth and wrote all over the copies making suggestions and fixing grammar and punctuation. To me, working in a group helps because it shows where a weakness is in a story as well as its strengths. To those I work with now as a beta my only job is suggest things to help you and make your work shine, never feel you must take a suggestion as the final word. You are the author and the story is yours. To those who have worked with me as a beta and to those who will in the future - my gratitude to you knows no bounds.
  6. I really enjoy the effort and imagination you put into this prompt, Percy. You really bring everything to life here.
  7. Alright I started this mess and have been a bit busy so I apologize for dropping the ball a bit. I promise before the 7th to have a link for a vote on dates. If there is anyone pushing for dates outside of June speak up and tell me before we go forward. The date with the most votes will end up being the East Coast Get-together for 2012.

    Chapter 2

Well with an Anthology piece I try to keep them short. With a full story I can flesh it out and people, like Jenny, who were barely mentioned now can become living breathing characters that hopefully you come to care for. You know me, if I mention them they appear more than once. Hang in there KC I'm putting this out one a week.
  9. I do my best to make sure the characters in anything I write aren't just one dimensional. The more you can do without having to make it seem forced the better my writing becomes.
  10. Having just seen my godson off and back to his parents, yeah I can easily understand that fear.
  11. Now that makes you and Frosty asking that. It was a prompt. These are writing exercises to practice on. If it becomes a full story great but if not, you got yourself writing.
  12. Thanks Dolores. Just one of those where you can sort of enjoy the tension building.
  13. I know, I am on a writer's website so what is surprising about doing some reading? Well nothing really. Just that lately between my own writing, my beta work for various authors, my job, and something I joking refer to as my life, well I haven't been reading and commenting as I would like to on people's work. However, I have also been creating the prompts. I take that serious and every time someone either puts it on the prompt page or adds a connection to it in one of their pages I go and read. Well that is what I went to do today but the author, Percy, hadn't had the work through review yet, which is fine being a new author on the site. However, because I didn't find his prompt work I did find a story that had been put up. Guess what? Percy rewrote a fairy tale. So, finding someone who likes Fairy Tales is a good thing for me. He has an unusual take on Cinderella. Go give it a read and enjoy. If you enjoy it give him some encouragement. Truthfully I liked the tale a lot.
  14. Hmm. Guess we are going to have go over things again to get our questions in order Nephy.
  15. "Look, I know you weren't really ready to talk to me, but I have to tell you what has been going on. Just listen to me ..." the voice on the phone said. Chris was so upset it took a moment for him to realize who the hell it was that was talking on the phone. “Mom, look I really …” his voice cracked. He took a deep breath and pushed on, “I just don’t want to talk about it.” “Damn it Christopher, would you shut up for a moment and listen to me!” He’d just let his son go on his first trip alone
  16. Alright, so where is this last installment? I am not good at waiting!
  17. So much for the best laid plans. Seems the vampires in your stories never have a choice but to change their mates. lol
  18. Hmm. Left wondering what the year will bring.
  19. Richard needs to make some hard choices. This is going to change Simon. The man has some serious thinking to do and dropping something like this when they are barely living together isn't what I've come to expect from the older more experienced man.
  20. "I love you " before or after sex doesnt count. If they say it at the breakfast table the next morning then I will.
  21. I'm glad I don't have to wait. Not the wolf he was hoping would be coming to the house. Poor Simon. Wait till Richard joins him and the other wolf.
  22. So you have a hero who can't be recognized without losing his ability to help. Simon has an interesting man sharing his bed again. There seems to be a mutual pull but Simon isn't ready yet.
  23. So Simon is finding a way to hold his own. Hmm. He may not want to move fast but he sure is willing to do things his own way.
  24. I'm really really bad at keeping up on here. Welcome to all the new members. All I can say is that if you have questions or want to say hi, I promise I don't bite. Well not hard anyway. lol.

    Chapter 2

Thank you Rebel. I try to write for myself and hope it finds someone who enjoys it. This one though I really do give credit to the original readers of the Anthology who wanted more. Hopefully I make them happy as well.
