Wacky Wednesday: How Ga Changed My Life
comicfan commented on Trebs's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I hadn't published anything in years, never mind putting out anything gay. However, I get bored and that itch comes back, you know the one ... well I hope you do cause you're reading this. That itch to read a good story. I love my books, but face it, they are expensive. Almost by accident I found GA. Then I got sucked in by one of the curmudgeons who likes to bite his minions and who writes some fairly twisted stories. Of course the advantage of GA is you can comment on any story ... if you join. Damn. So I joined. Then I posted a story. I found a fairly dedicated team to help my writing make sense to someone other than myself. I have made friends, adopted some, and have found some who enjoy the stories I write as well. I read and comment, and in just over a year's time became part of the team trying to help GA stay the friendly place I found. Oops. Sorry, I do run off at the mouth sometimes but even with the faults ( yes I know that no one and no thing is perfect) I am proud of those who work behind the scenes, the authors, the beta readers, the editors, and especially the readers who make this place worth coming to and spending so much time. -Wayne -

Story Review Featured Story: Challenging Fate
comicfan commented on Trebs's blog entry in Gay Authors News
You know how it is Trebs. Renee just likes to keep her finger in a few pies so she can jump in when needed. I personally loved the story. But then again that is the advantage to working as Beta for her. -
A more matured reflection on tha passing of a Legend....
comicfan commented on Westie's blog entry in The River Song
I didn't know all of her politics. I live across the pond, so to speak. I seen MT as strong leader who put the interests of her country first. She had to deal with many politicians from around the world and had a few choice words to say about one of our Presidents (which in my own opinion she got right). I can't see her vilified or ripped apart. She was a woman in a position of power, the first to be Prime Minister, and that alone made her one strong individual. Time will tell whether she will be loved or hated, but for now the woman has passed and if nothing else deserves the respect for the time she put in to keep England in the position it is. May she rest in peace. -
Annette Funicello was an actress a bit before my time. Best known as one of the original Mouseketeers she proved to have star power and was used by Walt Disney in many other movies before she began to make the beach movies most people will see on tv today. She was the sort of actress you watched and simply fell in love with. Amongst the larger stars and others who have passed recently, I just felt she should be remembered. She was an all around star - in that she sang, acted, and danced. As a child I watched her do Jiff commercials to sell peanut butter. She suffered for years from MS and faced it bravely. Until she was robbed of the ability to write she personally answered all of her fan mail and it seems for many she will be remembered in her last starring role opposite Frankie Avalon, a long time friend, in 1987 she made Back to the Beach. It was a cult classic from the second it hit the screen, gently poking fun at the images she had made back in the 60's as well as having Pee Wee Herman guest star in it. Before Micheal J. Fox came forward she was the face of MS for most people. May she be remembered fondly.

An old married couple ends up going on a world tour. He is happy to finally see England and Greece, while his wife brow beats him into agreeing to go to France, and then on Germany. Figuring they have traveled enough the husband begs to go home. His wife won't hear of it saying there is one more place they must go. The husband agrees to go to Jerusalem to end the continuing nagging of his wife. They arrive early in the morning and as they go out to begin their site seeing, she turns to him screaming "I told you we need to ..." and drops to the ground dead of a heart attack. The local undertaker arrives and sits the husband down to talk. "Sir, I am very sorry for your loss. I need to know what you want to do with your wife's body. We can bury her here for around five hundred dollars or you can have the body shipped home, but just for that alone it will cost you nearly five thousand dollars." The husband looks at the undertaker and pauses. "Ship her home please." The undertaker is surprised and looks at the man, clearly seeing this will be a major expense to the man. "May I ask why you are shipping her home?" The old man looks at the undertaker and sighs. "Look, they say a man died here once, was buried and rose three days later. I can't take the chance that would happen with my wife."

First off thank you very much for putting up with the occasional rants and all I put up. Secondly a special thank you to those who have kept up with my various mails and all. The cards and things made Easter that much brighter. Trust me, especially lately, I enjoy coming home to find mail that isn't a bill and brings a smile to my face. Okay now on to the health stuff. I have no idea what is going on with my back yet. I see the first of two specialists this coming Tuesday. My nerves near doctors are never good, but this is a necessary evil if I am going to continue to work and live my life normally, or at least as whatever the new normal is. The good news is a friend of mine helped to write a book on pain management and injuries to the back. It gives you some general information, which helps to know what some of the things that might be mentioned to me are. That is after I also asked (nearly jumped on) two people with medical knowledge here on the site. Dad went to see his primary today. He has been running with a cold for over two weeks. Naturally he needs that gone if he is going to be able to undergo the surgery for his aneurysms. So at least one of two problems will be fixed. I do apologize if am not as available or as focused lately. Especially since I have gone back to work, if I open I come home, eat something, and then I pass out. If I am smart I take the pills for pain and the muscle relaxer first. If not I wake up hours later (like I did tonight) and then take them so I can get back to sleep and face work again tomorrow. If I am closing, well, I try to spend most of the day in bed flat on my back so the muscles and all can relax because once I hit work I will be standing the whole time, and with the aid of a cane. Trust me, for someone who never has been hospitalized, broken a bone, and hates to take an aspirin unless the headache is blinding, this whole thing is a new experience and one I would rather have avoided. Also a bit stressed because my job didn't put in any sort of sick or vacation time for the period I was out. Trust me I can't go for two weeks with no pay. I still have bills to pay. So trying to get that straightened out as well. So my apologies if you had work I was going to help with, or anything else, but until my life is on slightly sturdier ground I can make no promises to how fast anything is done. Thanks for understanding.

Okay enough of the hijacking of the thread. Geez. :

Okay when it comes to my writing I am terrible. I want to work with many people and the best. I guess I do and often. Thanks to Sharon, Andy021278, Cia, and Renee who have worked countless times as my editors so the final product is worth reading. Thanks to my betas who suffer through the multiple rewrites, lost words, unexplained actions, and who have me fill in all the gaps so that they read smoothly. Again thank you to KC Grim, Renee Stevens, Quonos, Cassie, and Xtro. These are the people behind the scenes whose tireless work and nagging help me get something worth reading out.

Was trying to find something new to eat and came across this. Actually was really good and different A Light Salad 1 large Romaine Lettuce 1 box of Cherry Tomatoes 1/4 of a large Red Onion 1/2 of a Watermelon 1 container of Raspberries Now usually if you hear about raspberries in a salad it is usually in a vinaigrette. Not here. Instead the lettuce was washed and sliced, the cherry tomatoes were rinsed and dropped into the bowl. A quarter of a red onion was sliced up extra fine and scattered in. Then the watermelon was cut in half and using a melon baller was scooped out and dropped into the salad. Finally the raspberries were rinsed and tossed in too. It was topped off with a little EVOO and then served. It was light, refreshing, and the flavors were really good. Who knew?

Are you guys saying my prompts are no good or too good?

Until a half hour ago I was excited. I was going back to work on Monday. I was able to get out of bed and move without needing the cane every moment. I wasn't feeling too bad. Okay I had been given a few knocks since I this began last Wednesday. I was diagnosed as a diabetic. I lost five pounds this week, taking my total to over thirty pounds. I still had a job. I was feeling better, nearly normal. Okay then all that sort of ended. My doctor called. I suppose I should back up a bit. I had an appointment with my doctor to discuss the catscan that was taken on Wednesday. He is adjusting drugs, hoping with the continued weight loss I won't end up on insulin. So I sat there waiting to hear what the end result was. Well, the problem was the damn report hadn't been sent to him. He called and requested an immediate copy be sent to the office. And I waited. And I waited. Finally he sent me home saying he would call once he knew what was going on and he had a chance to go over the results. So the results are in. I wasn't imagining the pain. I didn't do it for sympathy or because I wanted time off. I have a herniated disk that is bulging. (I am not exactly sure what that means but doesn't sound great.) He immediately asked me again how long this pain has been going on. Then gave me two phone numbers for doctors that I have to go see. I am not exactly thrilled. I thought I had just strained the back. Maybe the fall I had taken at work was worse than I thought a month ago. Who knows. At least there is an accident report to fall back on. So that is all I can tell you. I don't know where I stand or what happens now other than I have doctors to call on Monday. I am so thrilled I can't put into words. I am just praying this doesn't mean surgery.

Loving red profiles and another health update!

Good news. Still keeping you in my prayers and wishing you the best as you recover. -
I just need to make things clear to everyone. First off I have no definite news so can't fill in blanks that might be left here, but figured I would let people know why I have seemed to vanish from here. Wednesday I was at work. Normal night, and nothing out of the ordinary. I went for lunch and came back. I was standing at the counter all of five minutes and my back began to hurt. I went to splash water on my face and was returning when pain shot up my back so badly I grabbed the wall and couldn't move. One of my coworkers grabbed me a chair and I collapsed into it. I sat there for an hour waiting for the pain to decrease so I could stand. End result. It didn't. They called for an ambulance and I was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hopsital. At the hospital they took no tests, no xrays, no nothing. I was told it was a back spasm, given some prescriptions and sent home. Thursday I slept all day. I awoke only long enough to take the medicine. I was in terrible pain and running a fever. Friday I called and got to see my primary doctor. He was concerned about the fever, the fact I really hadn't eaten or drank anything, my blood sugar was through the roof, and the fact the hospital hadn't done any tests. He took blood and I have an appointment to see him again on Monday. Meanwhile I am out of work. I can now stand, thanks to a combination of the drugs and a cane. My back throbs and I sleep like crazy. I have no idea what is wrong or when it will be made right. I had to call friends to get home from the hospital and my car is still at work. I apologize for not being able to put up the prompts on Friday and thank Cia for doing it. If I am missing for a while you now know why. I do apologize but can't tell you exactly what is wrong because I don't know myself. Wayne

Lost At Sea - Spring 2013 Anthology - A Night To Remember

Don't hold back Fish, let me know what you thought of Teddy. We all know people like that. Willing to do what they feel is the right decision for all the wrong reasons. I wish someone would explain to me where the whole idea of a sex change came from. Never entered my mind while I was writing that at all. *Sigh* Oh well. Glad you enjoyed it. -

The length? Too long or too short? Geez. Now I am left wondering. Glad you enjoyed it though.
