Lots of interesting thoughts, a real voice of conscience. You express precisely how most of feel, I guess: we do OK; we have problems of our own; but are we failing to do enough for those who are so much worse off than us? Is ours a good life? You keep the energy going well and add a really strong plot development. You sketch your characters briskly and convincingly. I like how they talk to each other - nicknames, playfulness. You write well, and you're obviously enjoying yourself, which comes across really well to the reader, makes it enjoyable to read. Thanks for sharing.

What I wrote is factually true, though of course you should feel free to get rid of it. I can't think of any politician who I feel as positively about as you seem to be about this one. I have good, heartfelt reasons for disagreeing with your assessment of her. She was not "gay-friendly" either. But I really do not want to get into a big debate, just wanted to suggest that it's possible at these times to over-estimate someone's achievement and forget their failings and mistakes.
