Patriots' Day And Religion In British America
Zombie commented on Atheugorei's blog entry in Mortal Morphology
There is a mindset in a good number of Americans that is still rooted in an outmoded eighteenth century outlook, values and way of life that migrated across the Atlantic with the first wave of settlers, largely from the British Isles, just as the speech patterns in some of the Eastern states have held onto the sound of English as it was spoken in the eighteenth century. Likewise some aspects of the US legal system and elements of the Constitution. You're right, a successful nation needs to look to the future not be hamstrung by a past that no longer exists, if it ever did in the way that some claim, and be able to adapt itself and be receptive to change. Change is a good thing. Who wants to drive a Model T when they can have a 2016 model Mustang -

PrEP isn't a panacea. All drugs have side effects which may not become known for some time. One known side effect of PrEP is possible kidney damage. Also it should be used in combination with condoms. And for minors, who aren't going to get access to HIV prevention drugs anyway, sex ed is the only viable strategy.

young people have no memory of the past governments must mandate compulsory defined sex education for every child - no exceptions or opt-outs (parents do not own their children) - and continue to fund ongoing public awareness

can't get to sleep? mind full of worries? It's a common problem. One solution is to have a regular routine before going to bed. Choose relaxing colours in your sleeping area, and hang some nice tranquil pictures. Here's a soothing pic that might help calm those jangled nerves

Fleeing Your Student Loans By Going Overseas?
Zombie commented on methodwriter85's blog entry in Methodwriter85's Blog
The UK system is maybe fairer, especially for students who choose a very worthwhile but not traditionally well paid vocation like nursing. This was posted by Martin Lewis, a well regarded financial journalist: "You only have to repay fees and living costs if you earn over £21,000. And, even then, it’s proportionate to earnings, so you simply repay 9pc of everything above £21,000. If you haven’t cleared what you owe within 30 years, the debt is wiped. Those who don’t earn enough to repay aren’t welching on their debts, the system's designed that they shouldn’t be contributing to the cost of their education. What we have, is in money terms at least, is a no-win, no-fee higher education." -

Have to disagree with you. Earth is most definitely not a "miserable little planet". It is the most beautiful body in the Solar System - probably the whole cosmos - whether seen from space, in the air, on land or in the oceans. The only thing that creates misery is humanity. -
I don't think so. You'll be holidaying on Mars before riding this thing

my love and hate list is too long to post but one of my "loves" is The Little Drummer Boy. It's been recorded so many times by different artists and you've probably heard most, but maybe not this version by the legendary Marlene Dietrich https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ugLpyQaYIl8

thank goodness the Clara creature is dead - she was soooooooo irritating! I missed it because I've not been able to watch because of her, but it seems it was horrible and violent - pecked to death by ravens - so that's all good Now I can watch the show again Does this all make me a bad person??

regular readers of this thread will know that it is an essential information resource about dolls And the dangers they pose to you and your loved ones. Because the truth is, not everyone has seen the Chucky series of real-life documentaries that showed how things can quickly get out of hand when families fail to take sensible precautions. So, thanks to this thread, regular readers are now aware of the significant threats to their safety when dolls become evil and / or possessed (and remember, innocent looking dolls can become evil or possessed at any time - that includes when you are asleep). On reflection, I am not convinced that there is any material difference between evil and possessed dolls. No-one has ever shown me a doll that is evil but not possessed, or possessed but not evil. So I think we can safely say that all evil dolls are possessed, and all possessed dolls are evil. But there's something I haven't really covered. If you have a doll what should you do to protect yourself and your loved ones? As ever, the Google is your friend Some preliminary research shows that "how to kill a possessed doll" is a popular question - which proves that evil/possessed dolls are everywhere and are a real problem. So here are the Top Five tips: 1. "kill it - before it kills you" 2. "do not run away, or lock yourself in a room, because you will only provoke it" 3. "get rid of any knives, forks, machetes, saw blades, axes, or blow torches that you may have in the surrounding area" 4. "burn it" 5. "Don’t forget to scream, because your life may depend on it." If you follow all the advice in this thread you and your loved ones will be able to sleep well - and safely - tonight

That's the speed needed to reach escape velocity so the vehicle can achieve orbit. Which is the whole point of the project, so it can launch satellites, rendezvous with the ISS or whatever - and make money

The hybrid air-breathing jet / rocket engine that Alan Bond has been working on for the last 30 years came a little closer this week to a runway takeoff and getting into orbit. On Monday, Bae Systems - one of the top ten aerospace companies in the world - announced it is buying a 20% stake in Reaction Engines Ltd, the Oxford company that's been developing the engine. The reason for this investment is not to be a passive shareholder; Bae will be a working partner, with a seat on the Board, and intends to access its significant engineering, technical and manufacturing resources to get the engine built for ground-based testing in 5 years. http://www.baesystems.com/cs/Satellite?c=BAENews_Release_C&childpagename=Global%2FBAELayout&cid=1434570674020&pagename=GlobalWrapper http://www.wsj.com/articles/bae-systems-invests-in-reaction-engines-1446414451 http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/a25d2798-7f1b-11e5-98fb-5a6d4728f74e.html
