  1. Wow... that explains soooooo much! anyway... I rarely get feedback -- good, bad, or indifferent. Then again, I don't rightly care any more. I can spend hours on picking ONE PERFECT WORD and no one comments... or I can vomit words on a page.. and no one comments... kinda over it. Lugh
  2. hum.. what I read: speculative fiction with nearly any sub-genres, dime-a-dozen romances (yes even the het ones!), military drama, pretty much anything with gay boys, fluff. what I write: speculative fiction with many different sub-genres, modern drama with or without gay sub-themes(mainly short stories) what I detest: 98% of fan fiction (DK's Rider's Pride being one exception), 99.9% of HP fan fiction (no offense Myr), f**K stories what I require: a solid plot, characters I can connect with (no matter their race/gender/species of origin), believable settings (no matter where in the known/unknown universe(s) it might be) does this help? Lugh P.S. Trevor, Horror is a sub-genre of speculative fiction. There are many types of horror though, including the slash/bash that you like to write. Other types include 'monsters' which could be anything from frankenstien type creatures to aliens to vampires to... well use your imaginiation. 'Psychological' horror is another one that is wildly popular. It gets really fun when sub-genres are combined and you have aliens who inflict unsuspecting vampires with psychological horror while chasing down humans with a quasarbeam... hugs, Lugh
  3. So... the fear of queer comes from a desire deep down to hump? g-d-r Lugh P.S. Trevor, There is no excuse in today's society to fear the queer. Most people who suffer from 'homophobia' have been misdiagnosed and really suffer from 'human-hatred'. Remember... a phobia can be treated by a doctor... 'human-hatred' is often untreatable with few minor exceptions and the use of a large crowbar and grease (for prying the inflicted's head out of their asshole). The best piece of advice I can give you is this: first and foremost, love your boyfriend, secondly, pity your boyfriend's brother for he will die a bitter old man. Hugs, Lugh

  8. wonderful dude! really sweet...
  9. good... bad... so subjective... One thing you must remember is that you do not write in a widely-popular genre. Because of that, you will have a smaller reader base. A smaller reader base means two things: fewer readers who will actually send in a note and more loyal readers, assuming they like you. I agree with what the others say: you need an editor, a beta reader, and some serious grammar lessons. A little help in the plotting/characterization department wouldn't hurt either. Lugh
  10. BBE: when you want something to happen you need to pay attention to the rules... GETTING STORIES ADDED TO THE STORY ARCHIVE, A HOW TO GUIDE is pinned above. Inside it tells EXACTLY what you need to do to have your stories archived. You have not done that. Please take the time to read it and I'm sure the archivest will be happy to comply. Lugh
  11. BAH! You should not judge a book by its cover nor by its title because (unless it's vanity publishing -- including on the net!) then the author often does not get to choose either. As for words such as "the", "an", or "a", they should be relatively invisible and good indexing software will not "see" them if they are the first word. As for my "titles", I give a story a working title, preferably something I can remember (and spell!) that links it uniquely in my mind. Most people do not 'get' my working titles because they often have nothing to do with the story itself. Titles for submissions are different and a lot of thought goes into them. However, they still may not make sense, which explains why authors need editors. Lugh

  19. In this story I'm writing, one "branch" of the Dragon family tree is currently known as Imperial. I'm looking for suggestions for names of family groups. for example: bears: brown, black, polar; monkeys: apes, baboon, spider I need Dragons: (at least five) Thanks!
  20. write what you want to... people will read it or they won't... you need to examine the reason why you are writing... for people to read? self gratification? because you want to? why? then take that and apply it to what you write -- if you want people to read then you need to find out what people like and write that with little deviation. if you write for gratification -- well you figure that one out. if you write because you want to -- then what does it matter? 22. ok 58 to 95 Dunn is about 4 hours. when do you want to leave?
  23. ok, first off, if you feel threatened, it's abuse. sounds to me like there are a couple different kinds of abuse going on here: 1. physical -- he pushed you... when flesh meets flesh any any other than a loving manner... it's abuse. If he touchs you, or puts hot grease "in your face" CALL THE POLICE and tell them that he is mentally unstable and threatening your life... that will get him to the hospital (and away from you) 2. emotional -- if you leave I'll suicide... he is causing an emotional response in you to make you feel responsible for his actions... you are not responsible for his actions... the next time he threatens suicide CALL THE POLICE and tell them that he is mentally unstable and is saying he will cause harm to himself... that is enough to get him to the hospital (and away from you) 3. mental -- this sorta crosses over emotional cause I really don't know where one ends and the other begins same advice. another thing to consider... go to a shelter, it's not pretty, it's not perfect, but it is AWAY FROM HIM, and that is what is important. Dude, where are you in NC? I mean seriously... there are people HERE that aren't that far from you that can help if necessary.

  25. AAAWWWW thanks guys! I guess I really should thank all the people who helped me through this one... from listening to the ranting... or reading that one sentence over and over as I changed just one word at a time to make it 'perfect'... or for reading the ending and telling me it sucked... and making me rewrite it the night before it was due.... and well... all those other little tasks that come from things like this... Salute to you!
