  1. I'm considering working on a story soon that has dragons, but I need to know of some of the mythology surrounding them before I can begin... here is a short list of what I can think of off the top of my head... can you add to it? eat virgins fly although their size says they shouldn't be able to breath fire / acid / ice / other substance horde their 'treasure' live for 'eons' magical various body parts are used for magical ritual / healing
  2. Typically, if the stories are copywritten to the author and the author has given permission for the stories to be on the site, then if the site has to be relocated/reconstructed with the stories intact (as the author wrote them) then the permission is still valid until said permissions are retracted. With that said, the copies are coming from a backup, if they go to the same domain, then there is absolutely no copywrite infringement at all. Lugh
  3. Yes, there are times when a bit of prose should be buried... burned and buried... or cut down to the bare bones and reworked. I think though that all authors have their one story that they are attracted to, that they keep coming back to, that no matter how horrible it is... they MUST write. I know I have mine. Every so often I will get rambling on it, write a couple hundred thousand words.... then put it away only to come back and cut a couple ten thousand words -- go figure.
  4. heh.. when I first did this.. um six? years ago now... there were a couple thousand people doing it, now.. gads there are TENS of thousands of people doing it. There is another writing motivational thing that goes on in April called "April Fools" that is fun too. The trick though is not to take these kinds of things too seriously.
  5. Bob, Did you do it on the blog entry or did you go to the page (necessary page to go to)?
  6. Interesting... every book you mentioned as been on the banned book list at one point or another. I would think that the arguement could be made that if enough "christians" disapproved of a book to get it on the banned list then that is good enough for the Good Reverend and his wife to keep Ian from reading it. I would suspect his reading material was not only carefully screened but the intended lessons were literally beat into him at home from his 'father's' perspective, even if it was incorrect. Just a thought, Lugh
  7. Um I guess I should sign up since my story is already written Lugh
  8. well as you all know there are two sides to every story and I'm guessing you will never hear the entire thing so I'm going to give you the "short" version: Myr and I had a difference of opinion over copyright law and the new rules regarding authoritorial access to their hosted pages. I was given the choice of comply or no longer be hosted. I refused the restrictions which automatically made me non-hosted. I really don't understand why they removed the forum though because I had it for months before I was hosted to begin with, but such is life. The stories will still be available as soon as I can upload them at the first land of the fey. In the meantime, look around and see what you've been missing (snickers). Lugh
  9. HOPPY DIRTDAY, Julesie-baby!!!! Yer now LEGAL!!!! Lub, Lugh
  10. Not so much difficulty as summer just seems to be very busy for me... with summer camps and sports all over creation... swimming lessons and karate lessons..... sighs... it will settle down in the fall because we don't do as much "traveling" in the fall/winter/spring months as we do in summer. Besides, the funeral scene is still giving me a fit... and it's been um... seven months I've been working on it. I think I'm going to just leave it as it is and fix it in the re-write. Lubs, Lugh
  11. the efiction program is designed to work with basic text... if you are having a problem with special formatting here is what I did: Copy and paste the story (you will get the special formatting from word right along with the story) Select the option at the bottom to preview the story. Select to preview the story again. By this time you should have plain text -- except for footnotes (and maybe a few other features I've not come across) which you have to take out by hand. Proceed from there. Hope that helps. Lugh

  15. Well, Considering my family consists of an 11 year old boy... I would say no. Extended family, I did when I was younger, then I was told to "grow up and get a real job" so I just let them think I stopped writing, it was easier that way. My father read exactly one short story I wrote. He didn't like it, said I should get my head out of the clouds and back in reality where it belonged. I think I was like 12 or 13 at the time. I never showed him anything else. My friends have all read 'something' of mine. No one has read everything I've written. For what it's worth my therepist doesn't know that I write homoerotica. She knows I write, but not what. We don't discuss it. Tabboo topic. Go figure. Lugh
  16. Tetrameter Happy writing, Lugh
  17. Idea 1: pick a topic, write down a list of at least 10 words commonly associated with that topic write a poem without using those words Idea 2: write one haiku a day for 100 days Idea 3: pick a topic, anagram it, use the anagrams in the poem. (I did this one for Barmaid's Sonata) Idea 4: Biographical Poem: line 1: Your First Name line 2: Four nouns or adjectives that describe you line 3: Who lives in _______________________________ line 4: A lover of
  18. Dance a little dance; a little faery dance; toss the faery dust from dusk till dawn; raise up underhill; cast out all your will; and leave your fears all behind.
  19. Testify This is flash and stands alone as written, there will be no more. However I may expand it a little to make it a little more self explanitory. Just for some background... that is the only one of my stories that is blatently autobiographical.
  20. Patience Grasshopper.... it's coming... it's coming!
