I guess my point is that nobody has rights over the dating of an ex (or a sibling). Once you are not actively involved with them, you might have an opinion (which should often be kept to yourself) and yes it might be messy and awkward and all the rest. That is just the way life is for adults. I for one was ecstatic to see the end of high school and all its adolescent dramas.

I totally do not understand the Bro code. It places the ex (Linda) as an object who doesn't get to decide for herself. Holy HandMaids Tale Batman! I can see that Brady has issues about what he did to Ember and to his family but that is on him and for him to work out. Ember's character is the same getting all alpha and protective and in Gordon's face. Great characters, even if they are knuckleheads sometimes!

It's a delicate balance, the trade-off between the seemingly endless wait of two weeks between chapters and the reward when another amazing instalment comes along. I have come to care deeply about these characters. They are serious, funny, foolish, smart, endearing, frustrating, and always entertaining. Thanks Graeme

Chapter 15 Dinner with friends
Rndmrunner commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Chapter 15 Dinner with friends
This lead to an abbreviated version of the reasons for his lack of contact with his aunts and uncles, and John was predictably indignant. “Christ, I thought some of Tony’s relatives were annoying, but yours take the prize. But hopefully your cousins might be worth knowing.” This doesn't quite come across to me as we have only had the briefest outline of the behaviour: something about inheritance on the mother's side and acceptance of the mother on his father's side. As we don't know what lay behind it all, we have to accept the indignation of Patrick, Peter and Anthony and John. The drama is very low key -
Chapter 13 Good and bad family moments
Rndmrunner commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Chapter 13 Good and bad family moments
Excellent chapter, but in the end, the footnote stole the show: the Golden Globes' acceptance speech by Emma Thompson -
The missing element of Artie's birthday was his mom. While Artie said to himself that a little cake or party would have been nice, I think that passing his first birthday without his mother would have brought up a lot of feelings, memories and traditions. Friends and baseball gloves would help but not erase those feelings

Chapter 12 Under the Stars
Rndmrunner commented on FSELL's story chapter in Chapter 12 Under the Stars
I had started to think that this trip was just going to be a frolicking road trip for James and Lucas and that it might all grow old fast: thirty year olds partying like teens. ... And then a real moment between James and Sam and some insight and growth and the journey continues. Great chapter, love the family dynamics. -
The chapter title was a real teaser: Out of Love I kept bracing myself for a confrontation, only to realize at the end they were intimate out of (because of) love not that they had fallen out of love. Great chapter.

Great chapter, its fun to watch everyone shipping Justin and Cam. To me a very simple but telling moment was when Brady was considering how to improve how the shop invoices and works inventory. Sounds mundane and dull at one level but shows investment and commitment all the same.
-
Back to more mundane subjects than fantasy cars; I really loved how the Father's Day theme tied them together with Leon being the one to explain that they were all family. Brilliant

"They caught a glance of Chris flipping them off as they abandoned him to his fate with the coach. He was definitely in for "a sensitivity talk." Why are they called "Sensitivity talks", in most cases they rightly "Don't be such an asshole" talks. Being civil should simply be the norm!

Adam nailed it when he said that he had grown in the last few weeks. He and Artie both and they will be stronger doing it together. Ace, you have deftly written some very complicated emotions - you are an old soul with a young spirit

You can see how popular this story is. I got on to the new chapter pretty quickly but there were already over thirty likes!! I hope the next instalment comes soon.

Luckily Connor's mother is fictional. The story resonates because our families have been threatened in the past and for some still in the present. Our family has had a happier experience and for that I am grateful. It is a credit to the story Sam that it makes our blood boil.

I loved the reference to the Jacaranda coming into bloom and studying for exams. I think most universities have a similar indicator. At mine it was when the protective fence went up around King's College Circle by Convocation Hall so that the grass would be pristine for convocation activities. A long time ago for me!
-
It is odd to say this, and to mean it as a compliment, but Adam's coming out was almost anticlimactic. It wasn't truly a surprise but it was important to see how Artie reacted. There may be insecurities which rise again down the road based on his upbringing but Artie will workout out. Wonderful insights!

Artie is finding his way. He seems well on his way to getting an acceptance that he never had in Texas. Back there it was him and his mom against the world. i expect good friends area bigger priority than a boyfriend,... and coming out
-
Poor Artie, he won't know what hit when Ace gets through with him. I am glad that he is making friends and getting stronger, he will need all the help he can get. And I am sure that Ace will get him through to the other side - in due course Great chapter and thanks for keeping them coming.
-
I don't know if I buy into the Adam is Artie's father thread but Adam is holding something back. I guess jus wait and see. - ... I hate waiting.
-
Why would Mason's path ever cross Deon, Clarissa and Liam's ??? Nah, that will never happen. Great chapter, and now another two weeks until the next instalment which for me will appear on Pride Weekend.
-
Ace, once again you are giving us a new story with a completely fresh cast of characters, a new locale and an original theme. Many thanks.
-
Great start to your latest novel. Well if Adam isn't gay, I guess Artie will be ... I am sure that there will be many twists and turns down the road

Blinded ended on such an upbeat note, I should have known that a new story would unfold oath a serious bent. I am buckling up and am ready for the ride. It is funny that bullying and abuse stemming from religious convictions is somehow worse than plain bullying and abuse, mainly because it begins with abusing self esteem and comes from a place that should preach love and tolerance.
-
Thanks for the ride. I am not complaining that it took longer than expected. It is the right time to end the story but I will miss it and I will wonder how Riley, Carter, Aaron, Tak and the rest of them are doing. This story didn't always brighten up my day but it was always gripping and it is a relief to see Riley on his way and part of a family.

Maybe Donnie will be friends (or more ) with Andre? Buddy has had a rough life, let's hope he catches a break
