    Prompt 340

“There is no way I am going in there!” Cody said, pointing at the house that stood at 74 Ashchurch Crescent. The edifice, for it should surely not simply be called a house, sat back about thirty yards from the sidewalk. "I've changed my mind." “What’s the matter? You scared?” Joe stuck his tongue out. Hallowe’en night had nearly come to an end, and the two fourteen year old boys had collected a large amount of sweets, chocolates, and lots of other goodies that were guaranteed to rot
  3. Well done to everyone. This looks like another resounding success Big congrats to all those who managed to write more than one story. It's really bumped up the number of stories for out members to read.
  4. If wonder if Mark ever had any idea just how big CAP would be here at GA back when writing the first book. It's a true testament that he is still writing about the same world all these years later, and by the sounds of things there is no end in sight for the series.
  5. Happy Birthday Conner
  6. Wow, I don't think I've seen so many prompt updates by our promoted authors in a single week before. There was a large number of our authors who took part in the Tanka poetry prompt. Irri and AC have clearly hit on something. Well done guys
  7. I don't think I've ever heard it put better, James
  8. I watched a lot of the originals from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s when I was a kid and so wanted to see what they would do with the gang (though since I was about 15 when the film came out, I guess I was still a kid). Most of the major plots from the film were basically rewrites of some of the original shorts. The Soap Box Derby plot, for example, was the short film Hi Neighbour, and they even used the Alfalfa/Darla/Waldo "love triangle". Nothing particularly wrong with the scriptwriters having done that (given that it had been about 50 years since the last film), but when a new film in a franchise comes out, I expect it to be a new film. Still, it was a funny film and in many ways it was true to the original series.
  9. So Noon Alaska time is **tries to do calculations and hurts brain in the process** 9PM my time. Yay, a sensible hour for the Europeans
  10. I've been so slack at reading the CSR stories and joining in on discussion day. This one will be read. Pinky swear.
  11. The easy three are: Stephen King, It (never leave home without it) Terry Pratchett, Discworld series Mark Twain, The Prince and the Pauper Then it get's difficult. I guess I should include The Canterbury Tales. I do enjoy reading them, and I guess should at least include something that makes me sound cultured Most likely include Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Complete Sherlock Holmes But what do I do with Stephen King's Needful Things?
  12. Me not on the list this week **has been lazy sheep** It's good to see one of our Classic Authors on the list
  13. Happy belated birthday Hope you had a great day
  14. There is a bar in Central London that hubby and I go to sometimes when we are out in the West End. It's called (rather unimaginatively) GAY The place gets very mixed reviews though, which is shame because we've always enjoyed it there. Though pretty much every other door on Old Compton Street is a gay bar of some description. Since the Prince Edward Theatre is just round the corner, Old Compton Street does do a lot of trade.

    Chapter 4

The bet sounds interesting, providing everyone plays fair. Somehow, I think Roman will try his best to make things as diffcult for Kayden as possible.
  16. You sure you wanna know what happened? Long story short I was making individual lemon meringues and here's what happened: 1. When making the curd I got distracted by mother-in-law so measured the sugar wrongly (only weighed out 50grams instead of 150grams) 2. When making the curd I got distracted for a second time by mother-in-law so didn't cook out the cornflour properly 3. When dividing the lemon curd into ramekin dishes got bumped by mother-in-law and ended up smashing three ramekins out of a set of six 4. Then I didn't realise that said well-meaning mother-in-law had turned the oven off whille I was trying to pre-heat it Conseuqences: Overall disaster. Very sour lemon curd. Bits of uncooked cornflour in curd. Chewy meringue. Very pale meringue. Mother-in-law denied her evening glass of sherry

    Chapter 3

Roman is arrogant little prick who thinks he can do whatever he likes. I hope he gets his comeuppance. Poor Kayden must be so confused as to what awaits him. One minute he's being threatened with being put down, then he gets more food than he's ever had, then Roman does that.

    Chapter 2

I feel so sorry for Kayden. He's been bought as some kind of joke birthday present, and may end up being put down for it (at least if Roman gets his way). It's just so hard to believe that Harrison and Roman are brothers - they are just so different. I'm enjoying the story so far.
  19. That's not quirky. That's the right way to do things. I once allowed my mum to do the cooking. She used practically every saucepan, roasting dish, plate, knife, fork and spoon in the house. After we'd eaten dinner it took nearly an hour to wash up! When I cook nobody is allowed in the kitchen. I've had too many accidents over the years when someone else has been in the kitchen. I've had a broken toe (dropped a roasting dish after mother in law bumped me), I've sliced myself with carving knives more often than I care to remember (palm readers can't tell a healed scar from my life line ), and there was the lemon curd incident of 2008.
  20. I love raw tomato. I love fried tomato. I love tomato in Bolognese. But tomato soup is the most revolting creation ever. The person responsible must be beaten and flogged
  21. The only city on that list I haven't been to is Melbourne
  22. Happy birthday Adam
