Thanks for this William, I liked the film. I don't think that I've ever seen Dirk Bogarde before, but I thought it strange that he played a Spanish gardener with a perfect English accent. I'm sure that it would be different in a re-make, but nice story and a happy ending.

Renee. Happy Birthday! Sorry, looks like I'm late to the party yet again. I think that it's better late than never though, and I'm trying to keep in your good books. Especially as you may end up having to do a critique of one of my stories. That's got nothing to do with it though, I'd have posted this anyway!

Running away to Toronto without having anywhere to go to, would have been a huge mistake of course, and we all know how these stories often end. Rory would probably be his best option but a very obvious one as well. Sue's reaction will be crucial. I think that she handled the situation quite well until her husband undid all her good work in a few minutes of madness. Sue has her faults, but she is a good person and will feel that she has let Robbie down by allowing Don to speak to him alone. I don't think that Don will have many allies within the family.

Robbie doesn't have many close friends who would be willing to hide him. Under the circumstances, Fran and Rory would both be prepared to help but I doubt if they would be able to persuade their parents to lie for him if the police knocked on their doors. Alex doesn't really have much of a family life and even when his parents are at home they're not that interested in what he does, so he could probably hide Robbie without too much trouble. Lying to the police or to Don wouldn't worry him either. However, as you point out, there could be other problems and Alex rarely does someone a favour without wanting something in return. Robbie should be aware of this by now, so he will need to weigh up his options carefully and not make a rash decision.

He came out of retirement in order to help Robbie, let's hope he follows his advice and Walter's good work wasn't in vain.

Alex of course, is the despicable and manipulative boy who has used Robbie and then gone to great lengths to conceal it. Robbie is wary of Alex and has every reason to be. He doesn't regard Alex as a friend and will want to keep their little bit of history well away from Nathan. It is an option though, which he will have to consider. Thanks, Tim.

I must admit, I just had to read up about this so-called church. They're really scary!

In the eyes of the law, there is no difference and anyone who attempts to take money from a bank can expect no leniency. I have enough trouble taking my own money out! Seriously though, I have never heard of anyone robbing a bank to feed his/her family but I know someone from Boston who told me that he used to regularly put money into a bucket that was passed around his local bar in the eighties or nineties to go to the IRA who were fighting the British in Northern Ireland. They were also planting bombs in pubs, department stores, and museums in London and other cities in the UK, which killed and maimed a lot of innocent people, including young children. Not much different to what ISIS are doing nowadays. He was therefore indirectly funding a terrorist organization and although he admits now that he may have been wrong to do this, he's not exactly riddled with guilt or losing any sleep over it. This guy is married with kids and he's one of the nicest people that you could meet. It's impossible to imagine him hurting anyone.

This is such a good blog JayT. 'Everything you do will affect someone, somewhere, somehow', is so true, but I doubt if many people out there would be comfortable with such an idea. Throughout the ages, people have undoubtedly looked to whatever religion they follow to define to them what is 'good' and what is 'bad', rather than use their own judgment. Maybe as a way of absolving them of any guilt. 'I don't make the rules around here, I just follow them like everyone else'. Religion has a lot to answer for. Not a day goes by without someone killing someone else in the name of a God and they all believe that they're 'good' for doing it. I'm not just talking about the obvious loonies either. Apparently, God fought on both sides in WW1 & WW2 when in excess of 80 million people lost their lives. It makes you wonder if any of the religions out there are actually working for the right guy!

Yeah, as with most of your readers, I like Kendra, but it's her son Roy, who's the interesting one. Unlike Lisa, I'm not planning on reading the whole story in a day though.

Hey, Cole. This was one of the first stories that I read on GA, but in those days I kept a low profile and rarely commented on anything I read or even bothered to sign in. Times have changed and I've decided to read it again so that I can use it for the 'critique' blog that Renee has recently revived.
