  1. Not all that glitters is gold. They did find real gold in the river, but Boone still thinks they were fools to do this for so long. But I think the actual fool's gold here is Coy trying to insist his brother cared about him. And their mother saw the heart of gold in Boone at first, but she was a fool to listen to her nasty son and to the bigotry of religion. Religion can be fool's gold for the stupid and the weak, compared to the real gold of love and understanding and compassion. Boone kept Coy from following his wishful idea of brotherly love, by holding the real gold of friendship as a shield, but he no longer needs to do that. But three good men payed with their lives because Coy was too much of a fool and a coward to tell Will to get lost. It's hard to forgive him for that.
  2. Hmm, I wonder if Peter felt he had to have a girlfriend in order to become a partner in the firm and please his parents, but actually did love Tristan. I'm not excusing him, because he was still a player according to his colleague. But you have to hate a society where who you love can be a factor in success at work (unless of course your partner is someone who deliberately pisses your boss of).

    Chapter 1

Oh, and of course they open presents on Christmas Eve. That's the proper way to do it after dancing around the Christmas tree. I also enjoyed making sure you had the whole range of likes for this chapter.

    Chapter 1

YES !! Perfect revenge. Disappear without a trace and call to accidentally, but hopefully, ruin his pleasure of the engagement party. That made me chuckle with glee. Of course, I feel sorry for Tristan too, but he acted cleverly by making a clean break and organizing another life far from his cheating ex. I hope he really did get closure and will find someone better, who actually loves him. Then he can exact an even better revenge, when he meets Peter again.
  5. It should have been Denmark saying sne-tissemænd in the comic, Sweden is much too bashful to enjoy those sculptures. And he probably has them in the far North of the country, too, while we would never get enough snow. But otherwise it was funny.
  6. Hmm, sounds like I need to get my ranting hat on and dig out the likes.
  7. I'm looking forward to reading the story. No snow in Denmark yet, but they're warning about cold weather soon.

    Chapter 40

The moment Stroganov gave the dinner invitiation I wondered whether they would be served Beef Stroganov. It's quite popular in Denmark too. How is Rimsky-Korsakov related to the composer Nikolaj who was born in 1844 ? Maybe another branch of the family. I liked the bonding moment with Daventry. And I'm glad I don't have to keep track of Granger's erotic conquests. But I'm happy he's still having fun in bed in the midst of all his hard work for his country and his family.
  9. I'm very much looking forward to reading the story.

    Chapter 3

I never liked Scott Slater, so I'm always pleased to see Will take him down. It's also funny to see Will analyzing his call with Brad, and he even managed not to lose his temper or stay angry with him.

    Chapter 2

A more immature Will might have confronted Malo more, but he's better at controlling his temper when facing nasty dudes and unfair behavior.

    Chapter 26

Well, at least his inner beast made him strong enough to make Jada apologize. Maybe Sawyer can even get a win with his mother, if he survives.

    Chapter 25

I think Jimmy should bite Sawyer to complete the mating bond before the full moon. I bet that would help Sawyer survive shifting into a wolf.
  14. I didn't know about these stories before I read the review. They will be my Christmas reading. Great review, @ancientrichard and for helping the review team out.
  15. I'd never heard that before. Very

    Trouble Brewing

I'm delighted they had a wonderful and relaxing day and evening together. They deserved that.

    A Memorable Day

I'm glad there was no prolonged sulk or separation. They are both sensible that way.

    Chapter 39

Such a clever letter from Granger and a clever reply from Daventry. I'm sure it will take more than 36 days to be instructed in the Russian Orthodox Faith.
  19. The Danish poet Henrik Nordbrandt would approve. According to his poem from 1986 The year has 16 months: November, December, January, February, March, April, Mey, June, July, August, September, October, November, November, November, November. That's because November in Denmark feels very long, dark and dreary.
  20. In Europe, we put the clocks back last weekend. We're getting closer to 2021, and I'm beginning to compile the Reviews Revisited blog for January. It will feature comments from readers made on each blog, but some of them hardly have any. If one of the story reviews inspired you to read a tale, why not return to the blog and leave a comment. You can find all the Featured Stories here:

    Chapter 18

Clarissa is a fiercely loyal friend who means well, but she really put her foot in it, when she called Kevin gay, thereby implying Daphne is not a girl. I'm glad Daphne called her out on that mistake immediately. But at least Clarissa did well in persuading Daphne to hold on to Kevin.

    Chapter 17

Sigh, I still wish José would look the wrong way when crossing the road and get run over by a truck. Matters are complicated enough without him stalking Mason.

    Chapter 11

Every time I read this chapter, I shake my head at the idea of Evelyn getting pregnant by accident. She seems fairly intelligent otherwise, and she has no religious reasons not to use a contraceptive or even a morning-after pill if the condom broke. And I'm not excusing the guy either, he should know better too. I know it works as a plot device, but it still makes me But it gave Ben a nice chance to be supportive, so she'll owe him back when the shit hits the fan. I can understand why he's not happy with the idea of his parents having a reason to visit Melbourne.

    Strawberry?

I'm glad I didn't read this before I went to bed. Where do you get these ideas?
  25. No, just sensible.
