Questions and Distractions
Timothy M. commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Questions and Distractions
Maybe I'm just lucky, but the circles I move in hasn't got any openly homophobic people. Mostly it's not discussed since the topic rarely comes up, but nobody sneers or says anything nasty if it's mentioned. Even the older generation in my family takes it in their stride. But then Denmark is a quite laid back place, sort of 'if it doesn't hurt anybody, it's nobody's business' attitude. And I guess we do like to shake our heads and smugly polish our halos when reading about anti-gay happenings in other countries. -
Thank you very much. Chapter 1 was originally written as a stand-alone story, but I soon realized there were too many unanswered questions, and readers were quick to point this out too. Now it's becoming a multi-chapther tale and I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the story too.Oh and as a Dane I loved the Ugly Duckling reference, of course. Not surprisingly, it's Russ' favorite HCA tale.

Childhood isn't always the fun and games and happiness it's portrayed as. I think Will would have been happy to do 'childish' things if people had treated him like the intelligent boy he is. But since Jeanine and to some respect Brad and Robbie didn't respect him as a person while he was viewed as a child, Will had to 'grow up' and become independent. Almost all his fights with Brad happened when his dad underestimated him and ordered him around. The only person who consistently treats people according to their mental abilities and not their age is JP. No wonder Will has always loved and respected him. The thought of disppointing JP is a much greater deterrent from foolishness than anything else in Will's life (at least until he fell in love with Zach).

Ha, I loved this. Oli's mum knows more about being a werewolf than his dad. Such a lovely irony. And she's a truly nice person who treats visitors the same whether they are in fur or not. But I guess you could say his dad is the same obnoxious, cold-hearted bastard no matter who Oli brings home, so no surprise there. How did he ever manage to persuade Andrea to marry him ? Oh and the Alsatian got the snub. And Buddy/Boris working on Oli to be presented to his parents had me chuckling, he certainly has no doubts about their relationship. Give in Oli, no resisting a stubborn wolf.

I get most of what you said, but this part had me going what? As far as I recall, Will was only one of several people involved in fucking, smoking and drinking on that trip, but he was singled out, because he said he was the one who owned the bottle, when they were caught. He did this to save his friend. This incident was one of the main triggers of his subsequent freak-out and running away, because Brad never bothered to hear his version of the story. So I'd not exactly call this 'zero fallout' ! Plus, since none of the other participants got any trouble in school, except for doing a bit of extra work in the school facilities (as Will was told by the headmaster on his return), why should Will? But maybe you think they should all have been punished? Fine with me, but it would have nothing to do with Will being a controversial CAP character. regards from a devoted Will fan

I think Sacha's relatives need a session with the counsellor in order to be told in no uncertain terms how to behave towards him. I wanted to smack Adam for the stunt he pulled with forcing Sacha to eat. Is he an idiot or what ?!

You know I'm almost tempted to say that James and Lacey deserves this. James could do with a taste of what Sacha has been through to really understand why he has become such a scared and obedient person. And Lacey should have listened about not taking Sacha into town, so she deserves feeling bad about getting both her brothers kidnapped. Frank is going to be livid, and I cannot understand he let them leave the house without a body guard. For God's sake he knew Ryland was hunting Sacha ! I'm not sure I want to read what happens next, it's going to be bad no matter what. And poor Sacha does NOT deserve this - especially since he'll feel guilty about them both getting caught.

Questions and Distractions

I think you nailed it about Russ being a lot worse off at home than anyone suspected. And I'm so glad you like my method of dropping new clues as we go along, since I'm going to keep doing it, lol.If you knew how difficult it is to learn Danish, you wouldn't suggest it. But even worse: once you've learnt it, few Danes let you speak it for more than ten seconds, before they switch to English. Like one British guy said to a friend of mine: even the homeless man begging on the street spoke to me in English when I tried to practise my Danish on him. -
The story develops slowly, but we can see the direction. Greg and Joey the hairdressers were both touching and believable, and the contrast to the TV couple was poignant. Oh, and beginning of the attempt to blame Ralph for the priest being removed was chilling in its realism. I wonder who he told (parents, the principal) - someone must have believed him enough - unless the priest himself confessed to someone after the confrontation with Simon.

I happen to agree with you, Russell isn't behaving very rationally. But considering he has sort of escaped from the mental prison of a very controlling father and has suddenly had to face some unexpected truths about his twin and himself, maybe we can forgive the occasional freakish behavior. But even I get the urge to shake him now and then, lol.

Mixed Midnight Emotions
Timothy M. commented on Sasha Distan's story chapter in Mixed Midnight Emotions
Hmm, I guess Kier is to blame for not keeping his dogs under control, and if he had reacted faster and shouted at the dog and apologized, things may have gone better with BtB. BUT she stepped over the line once again, assuming that she has any right to demand Kier leave or any say in this matter. If her husband to be doesn't grow a set of ball and puts his foot down, I'll lose all respect for him - and so will BtB and she'll keep on being a bitch until she's killed any love he has for her (hopefully before the wedding). Oh and I'm glad I'm not the only one to dislike BtB, please join us in the forum, peanutbut ter, and we can rant against her together. I spotted Oli and Buddy at once. It was almost a shame Kier didn't hit on Oli, knowing what we do from reading Wolf. But then I guess we'd have a huge dog fight on our hands. Better to have avoided that ! But I wonder if Kier's dog approves of Robin so much he's trying to keep other boys away. -
Nice to see Will learnt something from the events in Norway and he probably also became rather protective of JJ because of the abuse. Maybe Will also learnt from Wade's mistake in getting involved with Alex? I'm the eternal optimist and expect Zach to be thrilled about Will being at the game. Clever and kind of Darius to go as well, since two cousins sitting with Frank is less suspicious. However, I do predict that Zach and Will may have a talk about the deal about fucking around, and this could cause some hurt. Especially since Will actually doesn't want to be with anyone but Zach, so he could easily be faithful to his boyfriend, except Zach cannot pay the price. And if Will suddenly turns everyone down, saying he's in a relationship, he'll need a fake boyfriend to parade around - and I'm not sure Zach will like that either. I'm looking forward to Zach being the narrator in ch 8.

It's a very good point, I'm glad you took it up here and in the forum. I agree we haven't seen the last of the father of the twins, but his original intention of separating them and keeping Russ under control has failed, at least.
-
Thank you, it's wonderful to inspire such praise. I hope I can live up to it until the end of the story.
-
I love it when my readers anticipate me. You're quite right about Russ needing a new email account now that he's communicating again.I'm glad you're enjoying the story, and I hope you'll keep commenting and asking questions on here or in the forum. I like to be inspired by input from readers.

You're quite right in your interpretation, Russ managed to avoid the matter of his small BDSM freak-out, and Jacob has no idea - so far.I think Jacob's worry about Russ fainting was fair too, and I'm not sure he'll let the issue be brushed off just like that, depending on whether it happens again. However, dizzy spells and even fainting can happen from shock caused by pain or emotion, especially if you have low blood pressure. So the explanation need not be anything serious. I never thought anyone would say my chapters are too short, lol. But I plead guilty to doing a tiny cliff hanger. I'm writing as fast as I can.

Chapter 22 More Than Observing
Timothy M. commented on Daddydavek's story chapter in Chapter 22 More Than Observing
I liked the idea that Abel's granddad realized that his son wasn't the only one to blame for his behavior as a young man. -
Prompt 239 - First Line

I never saw this before, but I'm guessing this was the initial prompt response which led to So Little Magic Left ? It's even more fun, when you know that story. -
Prompt 210 - Grim Reaper
Timothy M. commented on Mann Ramblings's story chapter in Prompt 210 - Grim Reaper
This was hilarious. I loved the idea of a punk reaper getting a kick from touching bad guys, and being annoyed the silly girl went to heaven. -
Tillykke med fødselsdagen from your Danish fan sorry I'm a day late, hope you had a great time on the opposite side of the world from me (more or less).

Even as an eight-year-old Simon's instinct were pretty good. I'm not sure I agree with Lisa concerning Simon's dad. The sort of suspicious questioning implying bad stuff may be less openly homophobic than Mike, but the insidious damage done is just as bad, since it's harder to counteract or reject.

Thank you, Gary, for leaving such a nice review. You're getting to know Russell and Jacob quite well, and I'm pleased you think Russ has improved already. I'm glad you approve of the decision to tell this story strictly from Russell's POV. There are drawbacks, but I think the advantages outweigh them. And I'm trying to oppose the view Russell has of himself and people around him by letting them act or say things in a manner which hopefully changes Russell's perception along with ours. Plus I hope Jacob will seem more like a real person (with faults and quirks of his own) as Russell gets closer to him and develops a more balanced view of his man. Right now, Russ is still too much in the adoring puppy stage, for me at least.
-
I hadn't thought about it like that, but you're right. Jacob is a very hands-on guy, expressing his feelings physically as well as verbally. For right now it's what Russell needs, he has been starved of affection in every way and every touch and word fill the empty hole in his heart. (If this imagery sparks naughty thoughts, rest assured you're not alone, lol.)
-
Welcome in the club of older guys shaking their heads at the antics of teenagers, LOL. I can't promise Russell won't have small relapses now and then, but I hope you'll see improvement as the story moves along - and that goes for my narrating skills as well.
-
Me too, LOL. I'm glad you think it was believable, I've always been rather level headed and controlled, so having to imagine and depict this sort of irrational freaking is a challenge.
