  1. Now everyone can start hating F'drun again... Was not aware we had stopped.
  2. The only weather extreme that really bothers me are high temps. The rest I can usually tolerate. What really gets me are rapid shifts. The 70's one day and below freezing the next morning we have had several times over the last couple weeks just hurts!
  3. A friend had good luck wrapping several foot of the tree trunk in stretched kitchen plastic wrap. I thought they would just shred it but starting about 2 ft off the ground and wrapping far enough they can't reach over seemed to work.
  4. Congratulations. May you have as many happy years together as hubby and I have. (40 and still counting)
  5. No need to apologize. Friends listen. Sometimes we can even help!
  6. I have been doing the pies since I was 10, and something still goes off every dang year. Took over the rest of the meal when Gram passed 25 yrs back. Just multiplied the possibilities for disaster.
  7. My favorite part is begging out watching the late game and crafting after dinner with what ever family can be there. We have had years as small as 4 like this year will be, and as many as 20 for the weekend ar my uncles tree farm in Pa. Funny thing is it seems like I cook the same amount either way! Granted this year is 2 pies not 10 or more, and only 1 day baking not again early Saturday, but it's all the same foods just smaller quantities.
  8. Ok peeps, I can find lots of things to Express my feelings for you all, but cannot seem to get them to post. You will just have to believe I love you all and that I am thankful for each and every one of you!
  9. Just about 4 of em, yes. They landed I'm Massachusetts in 1620, first feast 1621
  10. And here I thought women were the only ones wearing shoes they could fall off of!
  11. Better a false positive than a false negative!
  12. Perhaps you all should be tested asap, and not wait on mom's results? That's what I would do if I were in this situation.
  13. Please tell me you don't react to his bad days the way my husband reacts to mine. He ranges from " Why do uou let it bother you? Ignore it" (or them as the case may be) to "oh Jesus christ here we go again, get over it". He does not seem to accept depression at any level is not something you can just turn off. Which of course just makes me feel inadequate, making it even harder to cope.
  14. Good lord, don't we come up with enough bad dad jokes on our own, without you setting us on a quest to find more???
  15. Welcome to the neighborhood
  16. Nope. I am the twin ( also 60 ) Reader is our younger sister! Mother told us not to teach her bad habits but...
  17. @Mikiesboy you can get little rubber end caps for the needles. Helps to keep things from falling off the second your concentration is broken. Also when you are not actively knitting. I have a big plastic bowl my projects live in. I walk away and come back to dropped stitches, when no one has been within 10' of the bowl!

    Chapter 3

I see the job turning into something more long term, like head of household, chief cook and bottle washer with multiple peeps answering to her to keep the compound running. I am expecting a cleaning staff, landscaping, hell maybe even a stable and barn staff!
  19. Look into rentals. One of the big names around here ( I don't remember which on my friend mentioned) has a frequent flyer program for peeps who fly in on business frequently. Points earned that reduces the next rental or some such. Will ask him about it next time he runs through here. Sometimes you need a leg hold trap to catch him! @MacGreg It's good to see you alive and kicking! With all the fires, I started to worry.
  20. My dog would have looked around sheepishly like " did anyone see that?" I have a horse that is afraid of his own farts. Will bolt forward, then spin around looking for what scared him!
  21. That's my excuse for refusing to ride the stupid horses that need to be taught manners anymore.
  22. We had our first flakes yesterday too. Was raining when we noticed some of the drops hitting the windshield were noticeably thick. The real trip is when I checked the weather app on my phone to see just how cold it was, the claim was 45*f (about 8*c) and sunny!
  23. Seems a lot of doctors ( other one on one providers too) have this notion. I have my own business and until recently ran a second for the barn owner where my boys live. Sitting in a waiting room twiddling my thumbs represents that much earlier I must start work or later I must stay to complete today's tasks. Horses simply cannot wait two or three hours by the time I tack on travel home, shower, waste time at the office then return to the farm. I growled at my chiropractor once. Now I either get taken in within minutes or get a call rescheduling if the are behind. Now if only I could convince the rest of them...
