This is sauce season. Takes about 2 days from tomato to finished product, so i make huge batches and freeze in meal sized tubs. By frost i usually have enough to last to first tomatoes next year. Fruits go in season but not in that sort of quantity. With all this time on my hands with the pandemic, maybe i will make jelly this year. Haven't done that in ages, and found what looks like a good sugar free recipe. A single batch first to see if it firms up. I have not had good luck with sugar free jellies. They tend to come out more like syrup for me. Lol is great on pancakes!

Chapter 15 - Changing Tides
Kitt commented on Mrsgnomie's story chapter in Chapter 15 - Changing Tides
That's what I was thinking. -
Since my calander says August, i am a little worried about Rick too. Unless I have lost a month...

I recall a sunday dinner chicken dish we needed to clean from walls and ceiling when i was about 20. The entire meal exited the pressure cooker via that spinny thingy, everything but the bones. Thats not quite true! I hear you make a killer tomato sauce, altho i do remember some concern regarding sharp knives and fingers

Yay! Power is finally back on! Not too bad, just three days, not the week they told me yesterday! Now, how long does it take a hot water heater to heat? I have a hot shower calling my name!

New generator is up and running. Got a larger one this time so we can do a bit more, like charge phones etc. Without needing to unplug refrigeration. Think in the am we will try tv and cable box to get the local news. On a wonderful note, the utility says they hope to have power restored by midnight next Tuesday. Yes you read that right, Tuesday 8/11

Hey gang. Storm is gone and a beautifully sunny day in store, with cooler temps and lower humidity. Still no power, with no estimates when we will get it back, but thats ok, right? We have a generator for just such emergencies we fired up yesterday. Ran great, fridge and freezer are happy campers. Or were.shut the genie down at bedtime, and when we went to start it again this am its seized tight. And of course with an 18 hour head start there is not a generator left in stores around here. So much for emergency preparedness!

This would seem to indicate a fear of lightning is NOT a phobia, since a phobia is an unreasoning fear. Actually seems pretty reasonable.

Well, we just lost power, i am assuming due to the storm. So much for the 1:00 update! Here is hoping it is not as long as the last time a tropical system knocked out power. That was 12 days.

<peeks out from under my rock> Jeez it is windy! Last time we had this much wind was Superstorm Sandy.

Hard, but i would not trade the horses for a 3 figure salary. Some of the people, not so much.

I was. Now I am riding out a case of the shivers in the ac.

Morning chores with 100% humidity, which dropped as the temp rose over 90*, 2 trailers with 4 horses to a show by 9 am, and 17 ribbons later, stick a fork in me, I think I am done!

Sunrise on the farm is so pretty. I just wish i wasnt at work an hour before it happens, especially this time of year. January i dont mind as much.

Why do they always think they can lie to mommy? Gram used to tell us moms are walking lie detectors!

I did not mean to say it is not dangerous. Things are relative. Like saying gun violence is scary, knowing it intellectually, but the reality is so much more visceral. I pray no one I know here ever finds themselves in the position I was in. The only good thing that came of my situation was that I know I can deal with pretty much anything life tosses.

Cyber stalking seems pretty innocuous to me, but that is because I had to deal with the live version, and back before it was illegal to boot. Calls to the police got responses like "He hasn't done anything wrong yet." YET? trying to run me off the road is not wrong? Calling and threatening my life at 3 am is not wrong? Turning up everywhere I went is not wrong? I finally took matters into my own hands, and did something not QUITE legal, but it frightened him enough to leave me alone. I was quite relieved when I heard he had passed away a few months later.

Sounds like you are suggesting an old fashion blanket party.

Took hours to unglue my brother when a tube of super glue behaved the same way under similar conditions. Whole bottle of nail polish remover and a box of q-tips needed. At least yours will evaporate with a bit of patience

Lately that has been my hope for every day. A post insomnia day? I turn my phone off.

For the sofa climb @Mikiesboyremember, if you feel yourself slipping, fall flat and aim at the cushion. Dont forget WD40. Every farmer, and most of the back pocker racers i know keep all 3 in the tool crate. I can send you all the bailing wire and/or twine you need. We have more than we know what to do with.

Just because this installment has run its course does not mean the series comes to an end. Keep writing Carlos, and we will keep reading.

In NJ he would be entitled to 2 paid 10 min breaks and a min 30 min unpaid lunch. Something is wrong with a system that needs to legislate time to eat.

I was never so glad to get out of apartment living. Beautiful place with hard wood floors. Upstairs neighbors were nice enough but walked heavy. Was like living in a bass drum. When she was told to stay off her feet early in a difficult pregnancy she took to rolling around the place in the wheeled dining chairs ( it was a late 70's early 80's thing to put wheels on anything you can). Thought i had moved into the tunnel under Pocono Speedway! Similar rumble just lower decibles.

I am looking forward to getting rid of these stupid masks. I understand the need, I encourage the use, I wear them. But I hate em with a passion! Especially now with this excessive heat.
