    Carlos Hazday

My heart goes out to everyone here and his family and friends that loved, liked and embraced Carlos, I'm sorry for everyone's loss. Our site will be that much less without him around and participating. At least his stories will be here for years to come for everyone to continue to touch him through them, or learn from him by reading them. It is said that a man's life can be judged by his effect on the world. That can be anything from being a good friend, spouse, or really anything else. If you affected one person in a positive way, then you have done a great job. I'm sure we will learn how much of a force he was as more people hear the news I do know that he was a strong advocate for the Miami-Dade gay rights scene as well as the rest of Florida. We lost a good man today
  3. Thanks., Cassie. I guess it is Country Sunday in my mind now 🥲
  4. ** Ear Worm Warning ** Skidamarink a doo, I love you. Skidamarink a dink a dink, Skidamarink a doo, I love you. I warned you I was out at a mall today, and I heard this kid singing this song, which I haven't heard in years! Well gosh darnitt , now I can't git it out of my head. Maybe since I shared the song with you all, it will finally leave my consciousness I liked the song as a kid because it had the word dink in it Can I say that word here @Myr ? Now before I forget Please make sure you have your Secret Author Contest Entries in by July 1st. We are looking forward to guessing who you are! So what all happened this week at the GA News Blog? 6. So is this a rule to live by? This review by @spike382 of a great story, I'm partially into and I would highly recommend the read!! Good Guys Don’t Date Bad Boys by Laura S. Fox Reviewer: spike382 Status: Complete Word Count: 227,576 My favorite genre of story to read here on GA has always been Romance. But a particular flavor of Romance I particularly enjoy is that of the College Romance. Maybe because I wasn’t lucky enough to have a romance of my own in college? A particular story that caught my interest late in 2022 was one such college romance, Good Guys Don’t Date Bad Boys, by Laura S. Fox. In Good Guys Don’t Date Bad Boys, we’re introduced to Jonathan Hamilton, a young college student who has changed schools in his junior year, fleeing undisclosed “drama” that has left him guarded when meeting new people. Apparently , trusting new people previously was partially the cause of his current predicament. It soon becomes apparent that Jonathan comes from money and privilege, and yet he brought none of that with him when he started at his new school. Shortly into the new semester Jonathan encounters a seemingly rowdy group who, in his mind, are stereotypical frat boys. One in particular stands out, Maddox Kingsley, a tight-shirted, perfectly sculpted, perfect specimen, emitting nonchalance. Or, in Jonathan’s first impression, a douche. Maddox is the apparent BMOC, with a reputation of girls throwing themselves at him, and competing in some form of “illegal fighting.” He comes with a requisite nickname “Mad Dawg.” Yet, upon seeing Jonathan, takes an inexplicable interest in him, and determines to get to know him. To which, in what might be one of the funnier introductions of all time, Jonathan simply replies “not interested.” After all, Maddox is an obvious bad boy, and Jonathan has determined good guys don’t date bad boys. Thus begins one roller-coaster ride of a romance with twists and turns, and revelations you’ll never see coming. I had a great time reading this, and a great time interacting with the author as she posted. It’s a fun, sweet story and I highly recommend, if you haven’t had the chance, check it out today. 7. I know regionally YouTube can block, but I was able to glance before it said video unavailable, so here is a link I could see I agree, Cassie! It is a good summer kick off song

    Adam

You didn’t let me down, Cassie. Thank you I only wish that all of our parents, friends and others would have the same characteristics as Julie. Open, understanding and non judgmental. if Ryan’s first name was David, then it could be my first bf. Confident, assuring, finding the cuteness in shy guys. At least I knew I was gay, but didn’t stop me most likely thinking like Mikeal did, should I run and if I do, how fast? It can be overwhelming but also very rewarding to find out. Let’s hope Mikeal finds out.
  9. Interesting way to start of the blog this week Sooooooooo, I think I listen to this song at the beginning of each summer as my kick off song to the summer. I like the lyrics and the video. I always wanted to be a boy of summer for a boy . Add in the fact that the kid playing the drums is so intense, who couldn't like this video? I'm not sure if putting links to videos takes up a lot of bandwidth or not, but why not post a link to your favourite kick off to summer song. I'm sure everyone is different, so want to see what gets you in the mood for the summer! BTW, got the opportunity to see Don Henley sing this live as a single set during the Eagles Hell Freezes Over tour in 2013. I was taken aback hearing it live, with the music vibrating the stadium. psst, Myr, if it does take a lot of bandwidth, let me know and I will crack open my piggybank to help pay for this weeks blog Now on Monday, Cia gave us a new CSR for the month of June! Did you check it out? I've actually started reading it and I'm intrigued by the green haired boy ! Throw in a guy getting a lecture on a corset and I'm looking forward to this tale. The great thing about a CSR day on Monday, it means that we are going to have it followed up on Wednesday with an all new Ask An Author 3.0: Speaking of getting in the mood of summer, how about checking out our latest flashback to get us in the mood for the upcoming Secret Author Contest: Then we are off to my favourite day of the week, Friday 🥳. It also means a couple of new writing prompts, this week by Cole: Saturday, Comsie asked a question that I hope not a lot of authors ask of themselves: Now what would be a wrap up without a wrapping up of the Words of the Day: auspicious, druid, phlox, precocial, officious, hoard, pavilion Upcoming Writing Events Secret Author Story Contest! Green Haired Boy

If @JeffreyL feels late to the party, then I’m showing up after everything has been packed up and gone. Just glad someone left the power turned on I’m intrigued. You do create characters that catch ya. From Julie’s sense of how Mikeal is feeling, to Mikeal total hate of being at the com, to probably not wanting to leave without seeing green hair guy again. Reading the chapter and I was thinking Cassie won’t leave us hanging without seeing green haired guy again 🤨. Then I think most of the comments seemed like they felt his was an episode of a boy toy and would be done. I want to see more of him. Then I saw the above quoted comment and am exited to get to chapter 2. Thanks
  11. I think we have a topic of what are you listening too, what are you reading off site, but do we have one of what are you watching? Well let me know here Personally this weekend I watched a series, 2 seasons, called Ragnarok. It is dubbed into English from Danish as I like to watch and listen to a show, not read it. That is what books are for, right? It is an interesting take on Norse Mythology put into modern day settings. So if you sez to yourself, great another super hero movie about Thor, scratch that from your mind. This is more true to Norse Mythology than a superhero MMU film. I wonder if @Timothy M. plays Magne or maybe even Laurits Not having a huge knowledge of Norse mythology, for some reason it seems more realistic in a modern day series. It does have a bit of climate change storyline, so let that be a forewarning. Now it is your turn While I was watching tv, many others were busy doing up the GA News Blogs over the week. Monday was our CSR Discussion Day: On Thursday, Val took us on a psychedelic Flash Back to the 2017. I think I was 25 back in 2017 Maybe I'm the only one on psychedelics here. Were any of you others thinking of a gorgeous dark haired guy from Sweden in Roxette, when Aditus brought us the two new prompts this week? Saturday, Comicality brought a new article using the name from a famous book's characters. One that I haven't read On the Words of the Day: Sunday was langur. Monday was languor. Tuesday was enchilada. Wednesday was all about turbit. Thursday was ripsaw. Friday was a two meaning word, rummy. Finally an interesting discussion on Saturday about jaywalk. 12. Are these the monkeys that are constantly beating off at the zoo How many parents have found them trying to deal with small children asking, :What are they doing to their bodies?"
  13. @Mikiesboy or maybe @Dodger might be able to confirm this... In downtown Toronto where like most places pedestrians have the right of way, but there they take it literally. Someone walks out of their office in the middle of the block, and want to cross the street, they just cross knowing the cars will stop. But then again, I haven't really driven in DT Toronto since the 90's. Who knows, maybe things have changed in the past twenty five years and pedestrians are like playing a game of Pacman with your car
  14. I wonder if turbits like to feast on turbot?
  15. Most guys would be satisfied having one enchilada, but it appears you are having more than one with the plural of enchilada
  16. Another week, another day, another hour . I had a nice short week last week as in Canadia we had the Victoria Day Long Weekend last weekend, and I believe some 'mericans have the Memorial Day Long Weekend going on right now. I believe our friends back across the pond in the UK have this weekend as one of their Bank Holidays. Tomorrow I do believe the French have Whit Monday, I also think in the Australian Capital Region they have Reconciliation Day on Monday, but does the the rest of Australia have anything as well? New Zealand, let's hear from you!! With the exception of the Southern Hemi, usually this week is the official kickoff of the summer holiday season. So let's go summer!!!! We have a lot of people that have reading lists here at GA. Maybe something caught your eye like in a Signature Author Feature, like @Dodger's feature this week, or maybe a Review from our Review Team and you have put it on your reading list. What about the CSR, any stories from there? So I want to know, what story is on your reading list to be tackled next? Yes, your opportunity to get a plug in for an author's story here in the Weekly Update. Being the 4th week of May, we tend to be a bit busier this week than most So let's get to wrapping it up Monday, Cia was kind enough to bring us an all new Signature Author Feature with a nifty little signature that you can use if you are not currently using yours for something else: Don't forget on Wednesdays, we have the Signature Feature Excerpt: Continuing on the secret theme, Val took us back to 2016 to look at another set of stories in a 'secret' contest: Friday, Cole brought the new prompts. Spurned by a real life event, he had some interesting takes on pets that I'd like to read one or two about: Interesting article that Comicality wrote for Saturdays blog. Something that I might have to really pay attention to and give it a shot . While you certainly can read it first, it would be far more impactful to start with the first story. Trevor — a self-proclaimed man whore with the ladies — packs about as much personal growth as you could possibly expect in one summer internship, and not just with sexual horizons. He quickly develops from one of the least-interesting characters in the “pack” series to one of the most compelling. With each new story of his saga, @WolfM builds on the world and themes of the whole, told through compelling, relatable characters with action, humor, lust and love. Oh, and I can’t forget the intricately detailed depictions of interesting places found along the way Personally, I think this is one of the strongest entries in the series. Hated to see it end. 17. The only thing that comes to mind is a rotating weekend party in abandoned warehouse and such with a liberal use of drugs that pop up with little notice though social media, to keep the cops away for as long as possible Now my question, I've heard of White Parties, are the essentially raves?
  18. "A dead robin is a good robin" Wildone 2023 I do believe that your cute, red breasted robins are one of the main factors of West Nile Virus and other virus that kill other birds and even humans!! From my understanding is that if a mosquito has a mild form of WNV, and they bite a robin, then the robin becomes an incubator and multiplies the intensity of the virus. Then further mosquitos biting the robin have the super version of the WNV to go and bite other birds and humans, some resulting in fatalities. Don't trust a robin, I say

I so glad that you enjoyed it @Leo622!!! With all the feedback, I might consider it. The thing is, I've never written more than one chapter anthologies or prompts It would be out of my comfort zone, but any time I write among all the great authors here at the site, I feel a bit like an imposter. This might though motivate me to try though. As I'm sure @Valkyrie and @Slytherin will tell you, I usually kill off my character at the end Dang, might have to go back and rewrite the ending
