    Seeking

More progress with Simon, and lots more questions. Why does he get insomnia? Why the candles with the engraving? I would think they'd go back to that street and see what else they can find. Now I'm wondering what they'll see when they explore further. I think this will be like one of those horror movies when you scream at the screen "Don't go into the woods, you fools!"
  4. I hope Cookie is feeling better. It sucks when our furkids are sick
  5. I got sad news from a good friend of mine today. Her foxhound passed away suddenly of a heart attack a few days ago On a brighter note... I got my stimulus check today, along with my unemployment debit card. So I finally have some funds coming in, even if it wasn't everything I'm owed. I signed up for direct deposit on the website, but at least I have something. I can withdraw the cash and deposit it into my checking account.

Well at least Simon's talking now. So everyone's seeing Tommy... I'm thinking the next step is trying to find him and figuring out what's going on. Guess I'll find out!

I hope you don't mind constructive criticism. The usage of these two words should be swapped. "Deputy principal" and "I think it was the principle of it." I enjoyed this first chapter. There's a lot going on in this town, and it seems there's a mystery afoot. Tommy isn't the first student to die or disappear. So what happened, and what's the pattern? Why is Simon so cranky? I know I'll find out the answers as the story progresses. Kudos to the protagonist for having the courage to talk to Simon, even if it didn't go as well as he'd hoped. There's always next time, right? I look forward to reading more.

    Q&A Blog Feature

I find writing prompts a useful tool/exercise to help me get through writer's block. I agree sometimes I need to slog through it and just write. Once things start flowing again, then I go back and revise any areas that feel forced. I think use of an outline depends on the author and their writing process. I don't tend to use outlines, but I do write lots of notes about the story. It helps me remember things I might otherwise forget. I do the same with most of my characters. They are a conglomeration of people I know IRL. None of my characters are based fully on real people, but a lot of their mannerisms, quirks, and personalities are. Interesting interview. Thank you for sharing!
  9. This reminded me of when Gandalf fought the Balrog at Khazad-Dum. Sometimes we persevere one breath at a time. Thank you for sharing.

    Simplicity

Chores give us a sense of purpose and normalcy, especially in a world turned upside down. Nicely done.

    Chapter 28

So sweet how Londe reassures Chasen.
  12. Welcome! This is a great place to be.
  13. You can eat as many puke spheres and fungus as you want. I'll stick to shaved cruciferous vegetables
  14. Our local military did a fly-over of our local hospitals to honor front-line workers. I was able to see them from my front lawn. Very cool to see and hear the jets. It was also neat to see my neighbors come out of their houses to watch and the people along the rails to trails path stop and look.
  15. Glad you're feeling better I'm not feeling well either. My sinuses are bothering me.
  16. Mine too. Instead of settling down at night to sleep, I do the exact opposite. Just when I'm about to fall asleep, I end up wide awake. The melatonin seems to be helping, though. The last couple of nights have been better.
  17. I immediately thought of this Simon and Garfunkel song:

    Chapter 23

I'm enjoying this story a lot. I think it's moving along at a perfect pace. I only want more because it's such a good story, I want to keep reading it.
  19. Dunno, since I bought them pre-shaved I imagine you could use a mandoline. I've always used knives, but it's time-consuming, so I'd rather pay more for pre-shaved. I would think you'd like them, since you like shaved things
