I could picture everything clearly. I love the 'mud-spattered joy". A perfect description of dogs at play. I also liked the interspersion of color throughout. The ice-covered green and the bluebird standing out among the white. A perfect thing to read while sipping cocoa inside, watching the winter storm from my window.
We have a lovely snow squall passing through, which made the roads nice and slick for the commute in. It's just the precursor though. The big storm is supposed to start around 10 tomorrow morning and continue through Monday morning.
When I had my issues, one of my mantras was telling myself I am a warrior... a Valkyrie who is stronger than the illness. You, Albert, are a warrior too. You got this.
As you stated, healing is not linear. There are bumps along the way, but the way you deal with those bumps changes. It sounds like you're implementing your strategies, despite the setback. You are fighting tooth and nail and continue to challenge yourself to push through the panic attacks. Sorry you're having a rough time, but continue the fight. Use your strength and tenacity.
It was snowy and drizzly this morning, which slicked up the roads, but it's stopped now. We're supposed to get a major storm this weekend. They won't pin down an actual amount, but we could get over a foot of snow along with frigid temps. I'll make sure the fridge is stocked and plan on staying in all weekend.
I think you'd have to pick me up off the floor if I ever made you a Josh convert. Thank you for sticking with the story and ranting when Josh pissed you off. It makes me happy when my stories provoke strong reactions.
Thank you for your kind words. So sorry for the delay in replying. If I don't reply right away, I tend to forget. I discussed including the recovery time in the hospital with my beta reader, and we ultimately decided it was more important to focus on Galen's emotional recovery vs his physical recovery. I completely understand why you would want to see it included, though. Thanks again for reading and taking the time to comment.
These are delightful I could hear the rhythm of the tapping woodpecker, and I especially liked the one about the nuthatches. You reminded me of when my brother lived nearby and taught my niece and nephew bird identification. As a toddler my niece could identify different species of woodpeckers and other local birds. Thanks for the memories
I always hope for an early spring. It's been a mild winter here so far, but the last few days have been frigid, with even colder temps on the way. I think you captured the reticence to go out into the cold perfectly. We might not want to, but we soldier on and do what we have to.
I went shopping with my mom this afternoon and we bought the light fixture for my bathroom. Now I just need to pick out the flooring and paint colors. And accessories. I'm thinking of going with a penguin theme 🐧
