    Prompt 310

    Thank you so much
  3. I've noticed the same thing. I use an HP laptop with Chrome.
  4. I really enjoyed this. You did a great job describing the house. I really liked how the protagonist connected with Mrs. Wiler, even though she's long gone. Naming the dog after her was perfect.
  5. Wayne's prompts inspired me to start writing on GA, and I have three collections of prompt responses in my story list. The first prompt I posted was a story about a little girl finding a 'kitty' and the subsequent consequences. Both Penguin and Alex's Legacy were inspired by prompt responses. Those are two of my favorites, as is the one I wrote about the zombie apocalypse. It's really hard to choose a favorite, but I had a lot of fun writing my response to Prompt 310 - https://gayauthors.org/story/valkyrie/2014promptresponses/8 Even though I've slowed way down on writing prompt responses, I looked forward to them every Friday. Wayne has left us a treasure trove of inspiration.

    Late Spring

You paint a vivid picture of nature, as always. I particularly liked the trees falling on a thousand autumns. Great job
  7. You will absolutely be my guide to Calgary if I ever make it out that way Buy all the chaps you want, as long as you don't actually wear them Well, you can wear them all you want over jeans. If you decide to wear them without jeans, well... I promise to dig out my old chaps and do the same
  8. As a horseperson, my immediate thought was cowboys I've been watching the Stampede too. One of these days I'll make it to Calgary to see Spruce Meadows. Seeing the Stampede would be pretty awesome too. They usually have a SM tournament during the Stampede, so I can have the best of both worlds if I time it right. It sounds like you have an amazing trip planned. Have a great time, but still please be careful. My brother and nephew just visited us from Colorado and he now has COVID, despite being fully vaccinated. He thinks he got it at the airport. Safe travels!
  9. Great story! Keep the tissues handy when you read it.
  10. Yes!! It was the same for me. It was like a badge of honor to be included in someone's prompt story. Very funny, and definitely something I looked forward to as well
  11. Wayne and I used to joke with each other because whenever I edited a story for him, I always told him I wanted more. He flipped the comment on me and my anthology stories more than once too It never failed to make me smile. I want to tell him again that I want more... I want more time, more stories, more prompts, more conversation. I'm incredibly sad we'll never get that 'more'. Until we meet again....
  12. When I first joined GA, it was Wayne's weekly prompts that gave me the courage to start writing again and post my stories here. I loved seeing the prompts every week and seeing what I and others came up with. Wayne usually commented on them, and as a beginning author, it was encouragement I greatly appreciated. I got to know him better over the years, through working with him on his anthology stories and occasional PMs. A few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting him in person with a few other GA members and one of my BFFs. We met at a restaurant on Long Island, near where he lived, and sat and talked for hours. He was as genuinely nice and funny in person as he was online. He never failed to go out of his way to make someone's day better. I'll miss seeing his pictures of baked goods, postcards, Peanuts memes, and also his weekly prompts. I'll miss his sense of humor, good nature, and friendship even more. We'd always had plans to meet up again when I visited the island again, and it saddens me greatly that it will never happen now. RIP my friend. I hope you are at peace and reunited with your family. You are truly missed.

  14. Haha I just watched that episode It must be Italian
  15. I have a friend who lives in Traverse City and posted that on her FB wall. Very scary! Makes me glad I don't go on amusement park rides anymore
  16. You and I would get along great then When I was a kid, my BFF at the time and I spent an entire summer learning and translating Tolkien's runes and Sindarin. When I went to college, we sent each other letters using runes and Elvish. Of course, I've since forgotten the majority of it. Stupid adulting. *sigh *
  17. Do you also say "frah-gee-lay" for "fragile"?
  18. *raises hand * Me too! Thanks for the reminder to set the DVR I miss Spruce Meadows, but I'm excited for the September tournament
  19. I actually did have green hair once... and yes, it was on purpose
  20. My brother and nephew are coming in tonight for a short visit. We're having a big family gathering on Sunday. I can't wait to see everyone My little nephew isn't so little anymore
