As a member of the team, I get to see the chapters earlier than most. Sometimes I might receive up to three chapters at once. Sometimes when I send one chapter back, I receive another one. So in cases like that, I may not see a cliffhanger but a tense situation that readers may call a cliffhanger.
I've already told CJ that when it came to voting, I voted for someone else who had left his readers with a cliffhanger for a couple of chapters.
These are just a couple of the things that the Writers Support Team (WST) look at when considering someone for advancement to Promising Author or Hosted Author. So it's important for an author to interact with their readers.
I think what Tomas is trying so is, if you want to get you and your stories noticed, then you need to get out there and promote them.
There is also the exception. I work with an author who doesn't reply often to topics about his story. He sits back and lets the readers discuss it without his interference. And since most of the discussion has taken place at my own site, if he does need to say something, I post it for him. He does answer any emails he receives.
A couple of things on the list I already do and have been for a long time. About the only driving I do during the week is back and forth to work so about 20 miles a day, so I'm only using less than a half tank of gas per week. I usually fill the tank early Sunday morning. Unfortunately, where I go, the nozzles only have one clickable position.
Congratulations CJ! Winner of the 2010 GA Readers Choice Awards, King of the Cliffhanger.
When CJ learned he'd won the award this year, this is what he had to

As of January 28th, the Philly area had 15 inches more snow the same date for 2009.
After round two of this weeks storm, it took me 5 minutes just to get to my car this morning to start it so I could get the ice off the windows easier.
