An expedition with Dawn & Arnold
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in An expedition with Dawn & Arnold
In your wonderfully descriptive manner, @Robert Hugill, I was able to vicariously enjoy the walk and the nature presented along with sharing in the conversations that were easy, friendly, humorous, and quite natural. Great writing! -
What some call "Christianity" bears no resemblance to the teachings of Jesus but a smorgasbord of what they want to quote from Scriptures often mistranslated and only to prove their point of view. That is sad and yet reinforced by too many! Breaking away from that mindset can be a lonely journey unless one finds a community based on the words of Jesus. They exist! And the words "You are loved" because God is Love apply! I put the heart emoji as a reaction because of the raw emotion expressed and the experience that it speaks. Yet, I also want to add the sad emoji for the content.

Holiday plans & interested relatives
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Holiday plans & interested relatives
The central theme of family building and living has expanded in this chapter! Family is not only or necessarily those related by blood, but by decision. After all, in hetero marriage, a man and a woman decide to create a family grouping, so it is with a gay couple - they decide to create a family group too! It is good to see Jason referring to Gavin as his boyfriend and not complicate it by the term "brother in law". I do believe Rory's grandparents will also be a very integral part of this family too. -
[Memory, Early December, Sophomore Year] – Don’t Read Into It
pvtguy commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in [Memory, Early December, Sophomore Year] – Don’t Read Into It
Whether Alexander says so, he was truly touched by the gift. He is so much a Charles Emerson Winchester, III, that it is not in his nature to be effusive verbally. Still, it is very evident how much he truly cares for Lyn! That Lyn worked so hard to buy that book is a testament to his loyalty to his friends and not wanting to hurt them!- 50 comments

I put a "like" emoji to this statement even though it makes me at once angry and sad. That we are seemingly returning to that mental attitude once again in the U.S., I hope reason eventually returns! Nate says about his near future: "But I knew that I had to make an effort though, you know, before I sign my life away." Does this imply that he hasn't fully committed to the Army yet and might well just stay in this idyllic place?

Castle poems, Insta feed, Crowdfunder rewards
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Castle poems, Insta feed, Crowdfunder rewards
@peter rietbergen is on point with the challenge of creating an audience for an artist/author: it will take some readings that might be initially distasteful to Gray to establish a reading audience. A private reading for a thousand is a brilliant suggestion. Two conversations are really good in this chapter - those with Bas and Dawn always give insight and clarity. -
"The Cookout" (Part 1)"
pvtguy commented on CasualWanderer82's story chapter in "The Cookout" (Part 1)"
I'm binge reading this story now and this was the most powerful chapter yet! @Seraph28 has said what I feel more eloquently than I could! Would that every child had a parent as fiercely devoted as Daisy Bell! We would have a much better society! -
Cupid is working wonders again! All is going swimmingly, so to speak, up until the last line which brings us to wonder what this is all about! It's good that Daniel sees the need for some counseling and is willing to go to it.

Hmm...Is Luke curious or are he and Brad "experienced"? Alexander is very territorial/possessive when it comes to Lyn.

Gavin has become quite the insightful and open man! His quick assessment of Slav and his openness to the relationship to Rory was quickly encouraged! And yes, the Higgins household has become quite the sanctuary!

Intrigue is well begun in this story! Will Nate actually join the Army now? Great start for sure!

A Graceful Exit / Epilogue
pvtguy commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in A Graceful Exit / Epilogue
As happens often in life, although perhaps not often enough, those that deserved it, lived happily ever after. Those that didn't, well... While everyone but M-L ended up well, so many things could have interrupted these happy endings, but that was not the way things happened here. Too often, good people work hard and still meet challenges that interrupt their positive journey. Glad to see good come out of all that these kids had endured. -
Website talk & land issues
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Website talk & land issues
Each chapter finds the Philpotts getting closer as a family and more relaxed with each other. Do we need to know more about Peter and his past? What is important is his present and his relationship with Vince and Freddie! I loved the interaction of Gray with modern technology - website, and Freddie's suggestion of other forms of getting his work out there via the modern forms of advertising (the apps). However, as someone of a more advanced age, I do agree with @Summerabbacat about not participating in those apps. I do have Facebook, but don't post - only wish others Happy Birthday/Anniversary - and getting caught in the rabbit hole of watching the Reels, lol! -
What a journey through being outed, a class trip which results in a near-death experience which brings former best friends back together as more than just friends, to a change in their school acceptance atmosphere. A solid read for teens who may be experiencing their own growing pains and for adults to see how adults could be supportive and unconditional in their love of their children.

Another story comes to a wonderful ending with hope for more in the future! I do hope there is a sequel or sequels! Thanks for sharing your creative talents with us readers!

[Memory, October, Sophomore Year] – Visceral Reaction
pvtguy commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in [Memory, October, Sophomore Year] – Visceral Reaction
It may well be the 21st century chronologically, but it seems the current atmosphere is regressing to the 18th or before! The attitudes Lyn describe are still as strong today, I do believe. Yes, there are elements of more acceptance, but I don't believe it is fully acceptable for two males to kiss in public as it is for two females, at least in the United States.- 29 comments

The Aftermath, Or, Nelson Hears the Truth
pvtguy commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in The Aftermath, Or, Nelson Hears the Truth
What I like about this is that nothing is totally solved - much like life itself! Still a lot of loose ends! -
This was a wonderful journey through the growing pains of forming a family of adults and teens, all male. Gavin and Matthew each have discovered that they need time alone but also time together to deepen their own bond. Irma is a delight. Jason, too, is realizing that keeping quiet is not so easy and is not really working!

There was a time in my life that I only drank instant coffee (but it had to be a certain brand - others tasted awful!) and then I discovered drip coffee and it has been only that ever since. However, I usually only have one cup daily for breakfast - the rest of the day is iced tea and lemonade. Water must be flavored with one of those 3 for me to drink it!

The Verdict and One More Problem

But what would the consequence of that memory be to Ed? -
The Verdict and One More Problem
pvtguy commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in The Verdict and One More Problem
Agree with all the above, especially the need for mental evaluation and treatment for M-L! The double standard does apply, however: if a guy is as horny as she is and acts on it, he's a stud! She's a slut! Still, in either case, there is need for some serious reflection and behavior modification! -
There are so many hints at all of the men liking men but playing the hetero game of what was expected...wow! Looking forward to see where this is going...

A Friendly? Welcome Back, and September Brings Trouble
pvtguy commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in A Friendly? Welcome Back, and September Brings Trouble
So far, I don't see conclusive evidence that proves Ed's guilt or innocence. That would lead to a conclusion that the prosecution has not proved its case and, therefore, a dismissal of charges. Let's see what the next chapter concludes. -
Me time & Matt’s Mother visits
pvtguy commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Me time & Matt’s Mother visits
As noted by @Seraph28, Gray is making wonderful progress in his social evolution. Peter and Vince are very comfortable together. Sandra is a very down-to-earth woman with few filters. I wonder if we'll find out what her issue is with Peter. -
A very interesting story about two main characters and their path to unveiling their identities not only to each other, but to themselves. The journey involves deceit, getting caught up in a "reality" show and finally being able to reunite a family. It is a worthwhile read not only because of the story, but because of the wonderful writing of @Laura S. Fox.
