    Chapter 21

There was a time in my life that I only drank instant coffee (but it had to be a certain brand - others tasted awful!) and then I discovered drip coffee and it has been only that ever since. However, I usually only have one cup daily for breakfast - the rest of the day is iced tea and lemonade. Water must be flavored with one of those 3 for me to drink it!
  2. But what would the consequence of that memory be to Ed?
  3. Agree with all the above, especially the need for mental evaluation and treatment for M-L! The double standard does apply, however: if a guy is as horny as she is and acts on it, he's a stud! She's a slut! Still, in either case, there is need for some serious reflection and behavior modification!

    Chapter Fifteen

Such a sigh of contentment that for the moment, all is well. May well he a calm before a storm, but a much needed respite. This certainly was a nice twist!
  5. There are so many hints at all of the men liking men but playing the hetero game of what was expected...wow! Looking forward to see where this is going...
  6. So far, I don't see conclusive evidence that proves Ed's guilt or innocence. That would lead to a conclusion that the prosecution has not proved its case and, therefore, a dismissal of charges. Let's see what the next chapter concludes.
  7. As noted by @Seraph28, Gray is making wonderful progress in his social evolution. Peter and Vince are very comfortable together. Sandra is a very down-to-earth woman with few filters. I wonder if we'll find out what her issue is with Peter.
  8. A very interesting story about two main characters and their path to unveiling their identities not only to each other, but to themselves. The journey involves deceit, getting caught up in a "reality" show and finally being able to reunite a family. It is a worthwhile read not only because of the story, but because of the wonderful writing of @Laura S. Fox.

    Chapter 20

A Hawaiian pizza is good if one can overcome their limited view of what is "proper" on a pizza - just as what is "proper" for relationships. I'm sorry Dallas' dad can't open his mind and heart more. He knows what is "proper" - at least in his worldview. He's losing a family over his narrowmindedness!
  10. Powerful intensity! And yet, there is some lightness in the conversation between Josh and Zeke - which, I hope, will be consummated!
  11. Ed has to be in school or his bail will be revoked, but there are so many options that should be taken to keep him safe from bullying and teasing. However, this is me as a former school counselor speaking and having arranged situations for many students before. It boggles my mind that the court would not seek educational arrangements - but then, this is not the story. Thus, let's see how Ed is handled at trial. George is young and acting both foolishly and admirably! I hope he keeps his brain in charge (the one in the big head, that is).
  12. Matthew continues to amaze me with his thoughtful approach to everything! Rory was the catalyst for the truth finally being brought forth, but Gavin stepped up to be fully honest too. His worries about Matthew were real to him, but he did face the tough choice of being honest - which is where Matthew has learned the same value!!

    Chapter 19

I fully agree with you on this but I didn't say a formal organization was formed, only that an alliance was informally begun. Still, you are correct about Dallas' role in gaining acceptance among the students. Even though the Catholic church apparently has changed attitude toward recognizing gays as persons but not their intimate relationships, there is still too much homophobia still present.

    Chapter 19

Without calling it as such, a gay-straight alliance has formed! That no one even looked (other than Timmy) when Dallas and JJ entered class shows a great change in atmosphere! Callum is a wonderful friend and protector of Zach and Alex. Lovely chapter!
  15. Hopefully, Vinnie will not have traced the call....but that isn't in the cards, I believe. Now there's another mystery: is there really any hidden information that will clear up all this stuff for Darius and Joey? Thanks for posting so quickly...now I'm hoping for another chapter just as quickly!
  16. Not the end of summer I experience in Florida, but did when I lived in West Virginia and Massachusetts. It is lovely and brought back wonderful memories - but also a reminder to me of how much I dislike cold weather! I can appreciate the beauty of it in a picture, but I have no desire to experience snow, ice, sleet, and very cold air blowing on me ever again!
  17. As for Ed going to school - big mistake. That is only leading to trouble. That should have been addressed so that he would receive home education which most school districts provide especially to students who can't attend due to health issues.
  18. The judge seems very thoughtful and fair. I'm eager to see what the psychiatrist has to say. I agree with @centexhairysub: George does seem to be at least teasing Cal. That is not fair to Cal!
  19. I don't like Pink Towers: not the style of either Vince or Gray. They are not the flamboyant type (Jacob, on the other hand, would fit that description!). Gray is developing the confidence that was denied him in his early life of neglect by his parents. I don't give his father credit for bringing Vince and Gray closer: I do believe this is happening via the choices they are both making. Matt is growing in his own confidence too and at his own pace. Gray is very respectful of his pacing. This was a very warm and delightful chapter!

    Chapter Twelve

I'll try to respond to questions 1 and 10: My father worked in a factory throughout my childhood. While on paper he worked there for 30 years, that is not entirely true: there were many years of layoffs, strikes and always low wages. In 30 years, he never made more than $9000, retiring in 1976. It was enough to keep a roof over our heads and, with the help of Welfare and fresh vegetables from my grandfather's garden, we had food on the table. There were very wealthy people in town and there were lots of those just making it by. Today, that town is in even more dire straits, but it is very similar to how Joey describes Warren, Ohio. There are enough people with just enough money to purchase drugs and alcohol to mask their depression. As for number 10, you make a very rational argument, but without his being fired, Joey would not have ended up meeting D, which is the whole basis of this story. In real life, I would hope you would be correct - but alas, it is not often the case for those who have learning difficulties. I have seen it in my own family! As for the story itself, this chapter was needed for the respite it has given D and Joey: there is hope, however slim, that things might well work out for them. I know I am hoping for a HEA, but perhaps this story won't end that way. Real life doesn't always work out for everyone.

    Chapter 18

So much happened in this chapter: Zack opening up, the surprise backing of Dallas' teammates for both of them, Dallas and JJ finally enjoying a much more intimate relationship...now let's see what the exclamation in the final sentence is all about!
  22. What Lyn is taking for disdain is, I believe, Alexander's frustration at not having the level of feeling from Lyn that Lyn has for Brad. And, what's worse, he is unable to allow himself to appear so vulnerable as to say so! This does set the scene for what happens at the wedding later on.

    Chapter 10

Life is presenting Kieran and Charlie with the beginning of a new chapter. It will be interesting to see what becomes with Patrick.
  24. It seems time for Jason and Gavin to confront Gavin's "fear" of telling Matthew the true nature of their relationship. I do believe Matthew already suspects what the relationship is and has no problem with it. He is far more accepting and understanding than Gavin realizes. Rory is finding great support in his friends, even though they outed him publicly. So far, he doesn't appear to be getting any negative response in school.
  25. Ed is quite adept at legal terminology! He will need a psychological examination before his memory lapse can be explained. George and Callum striking up a friendship is good for both! M-L is still up to her conniving behavior. I'm truly shocked that her aunt seems to be so blind to her after all she said to her in the doctor's office! She can't figure out that allowing M-L to go out with a boy will end up with her having sex? Inconsistent in my view!
