    Chapter 1

Oh gosh I'm so depressed about Nate. Even more so than I was about him BEFORE I read the chapter. I don't know how you managed to reduce me to such a condition Sasha. He can't even hold hands with someone for 30 seconds! He thinks giving his partner pleasure during sex is contingent on whose place it is! This is... I don't know what this is. I am appalled. Stop this man's head, I wanna get out!

    Ponder in the Dark

Were you going to bed alone, and did you wake up alone? Makes all the difference...
  3. Hmmmm. Say something about Halliburton Tootsie rolls are quintessentially American to me. And very very strange. They TASTE like chocolate, but they're not. And they FEEL like hard caramel, but... are they? What are they? No one knows.

    By and By

This is really skilled work, Ron, and unspeakably moving. I keep welling up when I think about it. You've drawn the central character's life incredibly well: the boy's last words to him come as such a relief, even though I don't believe in an afterlife.
  5. Chet seems like an utter sweetheart. It's a good thing Kendall has had his own experience to know how much unrequited love hurts, so that he won't take advantage of Chet... I'm starting to wonder now, how did Kendall know he was gay? Did he know, before he met Michael? I feel happy for him, that he's found the energy to move on in a constructive way, and accept Michael's gift of space, and make a gay friend, all in one weekend. Something tells me Michael's weekend has not gone as well...

Intense and alive, like all your work. I've wondered about this beloved figure mentioned in your other writings. Thanks for sharing this.
  7. You know, Zombie, there are days I'm 100% certain you're my cousin. You sounded EXACTLY like him just then. You're not of Asian descent, are you?
  8. But you guys, this just wasn't all that complex. It was one man, selecting vulnerable kids and having sex with them. To the extent that we're supposed to think of Paterno as some kind of puritanical Greatest Generation guy, he should have been outraged and jumping all over the situation.
  9. You're right, Graeme, I shouldn't have used the word "absolution." I didn't mean to imply that James was letting people like Paterno off the hook. I apologize for that, James. At the risk of being sententious, I do think that in every generation there are people who make difficult and costly decisions to do the right thing. I don't like the feeling that I'm letting those people down or belittling what they went through. Yeah, it does sound sententious. Never mind.
  10. It's not clear to me what legal action we're allowed to take against someone who is already dead. Taking away Penn State's wins seems like an incredibly feeble gesture. What we should do is burn Penn State's football facilities to the ground and plow salt into the soil. Are we allowed to do that? Edit: It amazes me that Paterno's family dared to make an issue of asking for the wins back. It's insane. Edit: You know, I'm not seeing it, James. That kind of blanket absolution obliterates individual rights and wrongs.
  11. Snif, allergies... I must admi though that I snickered a bit at the idea of Michael backing off from the gym. And the coffee place. And the hockey team. And sending a separate loving message each time to let Kendall know. Yes, that's very helpful, Michael
  12. What? WHAT? I don't get it!!!

    Dope Sick

Wow. Between the certainty of the writing and the vulnerability of the kid in the image, I'm extremely moved by this whole thing. I really want it to work out for Aaron, but I know you'll do right by the events regardless.
  14. Bronski Beat were out, not hinting, not ambiguous, OUT, unmistakably OUT, GAY, so much so that even I, living Muslim in Dubai in 1984, could clearly understand it, in their subject matter, in their lyrics, in their interviews, throughout the... early to mid-80s, was it? And I think it was they who had a policy of hiring female backup musicians for all their output. I saw a video of Jimmy Somerville on youtube lately, looking pretty good, and was thrilled.
  15. You know there is My Little Pony porn, right? The other dimension kinda broke into this one already
  16. Wow, that sounds appalling. I hope things improve really quickly!

    Ginned Up

Jesus Christ Addy I'm in a 4 hour meeting trying to meet a deadline!!!! Now??? You had to do this now????
  18. Oh dear. I suppose it makes sense. We're watching watching Mr. Irri's Grandma miss Grandpa, and it is a really hard thing to see.
  19. Wow, not one tanka, but a cycle of nine! It's not the easiest thing to stick to a prescribed syllable pattern even for one stanza, let alone for so many. Not only that, but you managed to carry a single metaphor throughout the poem (being lost in a maze) and describe different aspects of the problem. If you have based this poem on experiences that you've had, it'd be really interesting if you would consider revisiting them in a different form of poem, maybe with more direct connections to the emotions that this one describes? Anyway, this is a pretty amazing start! Well done!
  20. Oh gosh, this emotional pitch is really a bit intense. But I liked seeing Michael trying to calm Kendall down and take care of him. It's like their connection is so deep that Michael doesn't even recognize that it could be more? Or is he just totally straight and that's what has to be accepted here? So confusing... Clearly this is no ordinary friendship...

    Picture/Poem/1.13.15

I think you made Wordsworth and his modest-violet-by-a-mossy-stone look really boring.

    Chapter 10

Aw Incredibly sweet and hot. Yes, I was surprised too, at how thrilled Ashlee was that Clem would be considerate during sex. I'm glad there was no fight and that this chapter was all about building, not tearing down.
  23. The geek's got a sharp tongue on him. Keep the buddy. Edit: LOL, and the athlete went on getting injured at exactly the same rate after college. Every 6 months like clockwork. Must've gotten tiresome for whoever he was with, I wouldn't know
  24. I dunno about this. Fahd snatched the gun from his would-be killer and flung it away and then... drove to Minneapolis? Who is this producer who has such an interest in Donnie anyway?
