It seems like Cesar and Brett have a fairly closely knit group of friends, with apparently varying sexual tolerance levels. Sounds like CJ is going to learn more about his "uncles" as he hangs around them more. I gotta say though, all of the sexual innuendo towards a 15 year old CJ (he is 15 right?) by a few of of the guys definitely hit an eewww factor with me, even if it was said in a joking manner. I think that's a protective mom reaction though. Maybe it's different with teenage boys and dads? I wonder if Cesar would have reacted the same way if CJ was a 15 year old girl and his straight guy friends were commenting on how nicely her boobs had grown or how she could replace their wife in their bed. I'm probably overthinking things, but, like I said..protective mom reaction.

Wow Nathan's dad is a real dick. I can understand how Nate can suppress so much if that's what he had grown up with. It's a wonder Nate ever came out at all. How can you not feel compassion for your child when you know they are hurting after they have lost someone close to them? That being said, part of Nate realizes he's being a jerk so it is up to him to do what is right and NOT be like his father. I hope he can apologize to Taylor, and actually mean it, because I don't think Taylor will accept anything less. He seems much to self assured to put up with that kind of nonsense. Taylor could be so good for Nate, if he let's him in.

I really hope Damien learns how to deal with his jealousy because if he gets too crazy jealous he could easily send Kayden into self-doubt and reclusiveness again. He is just starting to trust other people. I would hate to see Damien's insecurities take that away from him.
-
Oh dear, Damien is jealous! Hopefully he won't let jealousy fester to the point that he lashes out at Kayden. Even if the stable hand had a crush on Kayden, I seriously doubt that he would even realize that someone besides Damien could like him like that.
-
Aww Damien misses his little Kit. I really like how he has enjoyed Kayden to be more independent and learn new things, even if he does miss him while he's gone. Hopefully we'll see more of them interacting together in the coming chapters.

Chapter 6 Double Solitaire
LitLover commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 6 Double Solitaire
Oh Gary, this was such a great chapter! You made me cry (you know which scene) but I was still smiling through the tears by the end. Chet is a very insightful man, and a very good friend. Kendall is lucky to have met him. I was sad for Michael seeing Chet and Kendal together but I laughed about "moondoggie" hahaha. That green eyed monster can be so snarky! I loved that Michael needed the comfort of Kendall's scent on his hoodie to fall alseep. Things are starting to progress and now we get go watch Michael trying to get past Kendall's defences. I have a feeling that is not going to go a smoothly as Michael hopes. -
I really enjoyed this chapter. Barry and Dave are talking and discussing what they really mean to each other now that the adrenaline has stopped flowing. I also like that Dave is not letting Barry get away with "boxing up" his thoughts and feelings. The only way these two will work in he long run is if they keep the lines of communication open and are honest with each other. (Sorry if that's a little too "chick flick" for Carlos Hahaha). Great chapter Robert! Look forward to the next one.

I love how fierce Kayden is becoming, at least when it comes to protecting those he loves. I agree that learning to fight and protect himself would be a good idea, since we all know he's going to jump in front of Damien to protect him anyways. I wouldn't want to be the one to explain that to Damien though! Haha Poor Nash, Im sure he thought he was going to be run through by Geoff before he had a chance to explain. Looking forward to reading the next chapter to see what Kayden gets into next!

Well written chapter Adi. I guess we will soon know for sure who is going to have their heart torn apart. I still have a hard time caring if it's Sandro. I want to weep for Ren. That had to tear him apart. I hope Ren has been punished enough.

You never think of how some things can trigger bad memories. I really liked how Matt was patient and supportive, but didn't let Avery close back in on himself. Now Avery has some good memories of snow

Great chapter Carlos. I think CJ is doing pretty well considering what happened with Lourdes and the step-father, but I am sure it's going to hit him more at unexpected times how much his mother has betrayed him as a parent, like on a birthday, holiday, or when he sees a loving mother and son somewhere. He does have 2 great dads though, so that will help him deal with things. It sounds like his dad's have some interesting friends and CJ is going to get a crash course in different ways gay men can live their lives (acrobatics/sexcapades? The poor kid's head is going to spin! Haha). I hope he takes more from Cesar and Brett's relationship though. That type of fun, loving, respectful and caring partnership is the ideal whether you are gay or straight. He has a good head on his shoulders though so I am sure he is going to be just fine.

I am so happy you decided to do Nate's story. He was/is acting like an ass, but there is something there worth salvaging. I think Taylor will be good for him. He doesn't need Nate to make him happy, he seems happy and confident all on his own. Right now Nate is just a perk to him. I think Taylor's confident attitude might be a little scary for Nate, but Nate is going to need to borrow some of that confidence if he ever tells his homophobic father to back off. I think Nate's got a ways to, but he will get there....heck he used lube this time!! (well I guess Taylor did have to tell him to, but still...baby steps!)

Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
LitLover commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
Another incredible, although tear-inducing chapter, Gary. My heart absolutely broke for Michael when he admitted that he was jealous of Kendall's friendship with Chet and how much his whole being aches with Kendall being out of his life right now. I literally cheered when he finally saw the light. I wish everyone could have such incredibly supportive parents like Michael's, to help them see, what is sometimes, right in front of them. I just want to give his parents a gigantic hug for helping him realize how much Kendall really means to him. -
So the wife does know he diddles around on her with Vasili and they have an open marriage....BUT leaving that topic aside... The only good thing about Vlad being alive is it sets him up to cause some havoc in a possible sequel (where he now knows mermen exist). I look forward to reading the next story with Vasili and his guys!
-
Wonderful I really like Chet. He seems like a great guy, and Kendall needs a friend like that in his life right now. He just happens to be gay, so he can help Kendall feel more comfortable "being out" and figuring out what that means for him. I also appreciate how, although he is attracted to Kendall, he is smart enough to know that Kendall needs him as a friend more than anything right now. I have a lot of respect for that. All of that being said, I am still holding out for a Michael and Kendall HEA (with Chet added in as a great friend to both of them!)

I really enjoyed this short story. I think this story would be great as a more expanded series of chapters. Their lives together as a family, etc

So What's Going on, Dave?
LitLover commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in So What's Going on, Dave?
I loved that this chapter was from Dave's perspective. We can see how much he cares about Barry and his priority was to make sure he was being looked after if he couldn't be there himself. Barry is going to need all of the love and support he can get as he moves on with his "new" life. I also like that Dave realizes there are some things they are going to need to talk about (like Barry's cheating in his previous marriage). Keeping the lines of communication open between Barry and Dave will only strengthen their bond. It doesn't surprise me that Dave didn't cheat in his relationship with Keith. He seems like a "give it everything you have" kind of guy. I am sure that strength of character will only help Barry as he has to "open some of those boxes" and deal with the mess his past choices have made of his life. The contents of those boxes are not going to be pretty. -
I loved the line "One simply did not save the city grimy and dressed in wrinkled clothing". I actually lol'd! It was very "stuffy Will" though. I'm glad that Will was with Teddy when his father spotted him. That man sounds like a mean drunk.
-
Bahahaha. Mermen! Yes, I was right! I love the merman/dolphin shifter idea. That's definitely new. Now Mahi and Vasili's people have some awesome toys to play with because the vamps severely underestimated them. It's too bad Vlad escaped. Of course with him escaping that sets up a sequel with Vladimir involved (unless you take care of him in the epilogue). I know Vlad can teleport. I wonder how far he can do that? Great story Carlos. Looking forward to the epilogue. My only comment/criticism would be that it's sometimes a little difficult to figure out who is speaking at first if more than 2 people are in the room. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the fast pace of the plot.

Wow....just wow. Jackie and the dad sound psychopathic. How could Mark and Brent not have a hint of how nuts she really was? If what she said was true, then she was a master manipulator. If I were Brent I'd worry how many of these "better marriage prospects" took Jackie for a test drive. Poor Mark. With the news about his mom and not even being able to go to the memorial service now, everything must be tearing him apart. Not having Trey around is going to be so much harder for him, but at least he and Brent can be there for each other and he can count on Treys parents. Thank you for the new chapter Renee! Can't wait to read the next one!

A great way to end the story. Avery is healing with Matt's loving support. You see that he still has some issues to work through, but he is getting better and getting past his father's and William's abuse. I am also happy that the daddy dearest and William have been sent to jail. William would be cocky and depraved enough to have video evidence of his victims Another excellent story Mom! I look forward to your Neko sequel and getting reacquainted with Kayden and Damien again.
-
And the plot thickens! My guess? I think Vasili's pack are bad@ss mermen type creature. Just a guess because of the whole "affinity to water" and Poseidon thing. Whatever they are they are definitely not your "everyday" werewolf. I thought vampires would be in the middle of this, but only because, for some reason the name Vlad made me think vampire at the end of chapter 1. Strange but true. And by the way...Vlad Stoker? Hahaha loved that name! Great chapter Carlos. Waiting to see what happens when that poor guy's body washes up on shore.

Chapter 11b - Epilogue Part 2
LitLover commented on Sasha Distan's story chapter in Chapter 11b - Epilogue Part 2
This was a greaf place to end their story. They have each other, their ranch and Ashlee's ram. It was perfect. They are so good together and compliment each other so well. I can see them happy and in love for the rest of their lives (maybe with a couple of kids and eventually grandkids down the line). Now on to the next story and the redemption of Nathan Cole! -
Story Review Featured Story: The English Year
LitLover commented on Renee Stevens's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Thank you Tim. Your review definitely makes this story sound intruiging and something I would like to add to my reading list. However, I think I will have to wait for a few weeks as another story I have been reading with an incredibly frustrating main character starts to wind down. I don't think I could handle two simultaneous stories with main characters I want to both hug and slap into next week and not have a stroke. Lol. I will be adding this story to my "want to read" list. -
Another excellent chapter. I am very pleased that Carl is in jail and William is going to be arrested. I loved the story from Matt's perspective. It really added a new dimension to the horror that Avery had been through. Matt is being strong and supportive, which is exactly what Avery needs right now and Avery seems to be starting on the long, long road to realizing that none of this was his fault. His father is disgusting, not him. I loved Travis's comment "Yeah, and apparently a whole town to fail one" How very true.
