Chapter 29 Not Such A Bad Thing
Headstall commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 29 Not Such A Bad Thing
Couldn't agree with you more about this chapter. As much as Tobyn will always be Tobyn, we are seeing a clear change in his priorities, as you point out. He is no longer carrying the shifter world on his shoulders ... because he has Kellar... he has a partner in everything. True too, we are seeing the strength mates give each other, and why the earth mother knew what she was doing. I expect she was prescient when she created different races, and understood they would need their own strengths... their own magic. Cheers and thanks, Terry. I'm enjoying this revisit immensely. -

Did a first edit of my latest effort and I think the story works. 15,000 words. What a relief.

Thanks, Albert! I finished my first draft! 14000+ words and it's pretty rough right now, but I think there's a chance I can get it in shape for the Anthology. If not, I will post it separate. That's two stories and two poems I've written in the last week! I'm back, baby!

Well, isn't this hit and miss game fun? Hi everyone! Good luck, @raven1. See you on the flip side. I'm doing this quick in case the format goes down again. I've been writing pretty much non stop and feel I'm getting close to the end of a second new story. Over 12,000 words so far... wish me luck. I think my concentration is improving. I don't even care fi this turns out not to be one of my better stories... it's the fact I'm writing that makes me happy.

Chapter 24 Facing Demons
Headstall commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 24 Facing Demons
It also shows the author's plan, and playing the long game. Getting to this point, when everyone had thought we had seen the last of Warren PeePants in the driveway, was so much fun for me. This was my first mystery, but I knew to succeed I had to keep readers guessing. Hear that sound... it isn't Kellar howling... it's me tooting my own horn. -
Chapter 23 Comes with the Territory
Headstall commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 23 Comes with the Territory
Lol. Maybe you are a seer. I doubt, though, a sex talk with Miss Sybil. To quote a line from Jurrassic Park, "Life will find a way". These boys will figure it out. Definitely, we are seeing the purpose of the earth mother in creating mates and energy. She wants this favored race to be strong, as was intended. Even with out the mate energy, though, I see Kellar as someone who is always evolving. Cheers! -
I love it too, but writing lovemaking scenes is not my favorite thing to do. I believe a writer has to put himself in a very vulnerable place in order to write an honest love scene, and sometimes it is very difficult to do that. That said, I did enjoy this one, so I'm pleased you didn't skip it. Tobyn will always be Tobyn, no matter how much he grows as a person. I agree with your comment on Kellar. He doesn't judge. Cheers, and thanks, Terry!

That information comes over the next chapters. Humor is an east part of their dynamic. This was a rollercoaster of a chapter--a continuation of the previous one--but it doesn't mean we can have some chuckles. Lol. Cheers, buddy.

Chapter 18 A Day of Reckoning
Headstall commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 18 A Day of Reckoning
Every part of this entire chapter was important. I think we all can see that even though Kellar is out of his element socially, it was not his fault things played out in such a way. His scientific half (doctory) is methodical as his mind works out this mystery... but no other pack member really thinks that way. I felt truly sorry for him, but he was not equipped to say no to Elinor, and that he needed to talk to Tobyn before he went with the flow. He thought he could speak a little and not divulge that he and Tobyn were mates. Enter an excited... and very smart Tilly, who saw what Tobyn couldn't. That must have been especially embarrassing for Tobyn. Truly, he had a really tough day, feeling left completely out of the loop. Yup. This was drama central, for all the pack to see, but the important part is Kellar has solved the mystery of the malaise. Woot! -
No one, and I mean no one, saw the Denver twist coming. You see the breadcrumbs laid out now, but you were never consciously were meant to see them the first time. There were meant to fuel aha! moments after the fact. I think an important theme, without saying too much here, is the evolution of Tobyn. How can a character like Kellar not change those people who get to know him? He still amazes me, as if I only observed him, not created him. Cheers!

I love hearing theories and speculations. I see them as true engagement with the story, and that's what I need most as a writer. As far as Tilly, I enjoyed surprising people about her incredible self awareness. She is that character you have to respect, and should never underestimate. I think she is the nicest blindside in the story. Thanks again, buddy... ridiculous in in the eye of the beholder, and I beheld no such thing.

Chapter 15 Nothing's Written In Stone
Headstall commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 15 Nothing's Written In Stone
I never once thought of you as a pest, Terry. I love interacting with readers and accept the good and the bad. For example, I know you didn't care for Endings, and I appreciated your honesty. I wondered how it would be received by readers, and fully expected some would find the beginning difficult if not impossible to stick with. The fact it pays off big doesn't matter, and your reaction reminded me of that. So never worry about commenting or asking questions or wanting clarifications, or speculating, or even complaining/criticizing. It's all good as far as I'm concerned. Your excitement has always shown through and I can tell you with confidence only the most jaded of writers wouldn't appreciate it. Dane and Mace had a purpose, but I can't expound on that at this point. Cheers, my friend. G. -
I keep getting knocked off site. It must be driving the Admin crazy. The silver lining for me is I am spending time writing.

Hey, Drewbear. My house feels almost too cold.

Hey, clo. I'm not sure what happened. I saw a post by someone and the wheels started turning, and I'm just seeing if I can meet the challenge I set for myself. So far, the words keep coming.
-
Hey, all! I've been writing furiously. 9000 words, mostly written yesterday.
-
Lol... I admit nothing, but I sure enjoyed writing that little piece. That point you missed about Tobyn being afraid of earth mates because of what happens when one dies is very key to who he is and how he handles things. He would prefer that part of shifter's legacy gone. Of course, that is a burying your head in the sand thing to feel. Still, he witnessed the demise of Fendral, who was so important to him, and it tilted his views immensely. Tobyn is turning himself onto knots over what he is feeling, but he is determined to stick to what he thinks is best for his pack. He's been on a mission, and any kind of movement off it is hard for him to entertain. Thanks for the great comment, Terry. Cheers!
