  1. The apron protects the bits from splashing grease.
  2. I was super worried about this chapter, I'm glad it sort of worked. Sometimes people just do what has to be done without motivation other than, we have to do this one thing. Methinks, I think he's a hero. He even wears under-roos! (does that show my age? Do they make those anymore?)
  3. You guys are tearing me aaaaapppppaaaaaaarrrrrrtttttt!
  4. Pssst! I asked you not to tell him.
  5. I hate you sometimes!
  6. There are so many different ways to respond to this sentence. None of them are good, but there are many ways. Because in my brain, when you said this, I picture while writing one theme, you wear a white suit with red bowtie, sipping on Mint Juleps as you write about the unspoken secret of NASA engineers working in Alabama (or is it Georgia) as they struggle with the new horizons of space travel. While the other theme, you are wearing steampunk gear, drinking motor oil and chomping on an unlit cigar while dealing with the horizon of zombies attacking New York City over Pace Piccata Sauce, the unspoken cause of the zombies. Not sure where I got this imagery, but I don't think it was AI. . I'm going away now, I have a kitchen to clean.
  7. So last year I sat out, more accurately, I've never participated in any anthology, not because of themes but I suck at writing short stories. But last year, it was because of the theme. I also didn't read any of them because I'm not an animal person. I did read Lee Wilson's, mainly because I read most of his stuff on principle. I dipped my toe into Secret Author's once, but I really don't enjoy writing short stories. Matter of fact my follow-up to the Secret Author's short story is now around 130K words, a short christmas story that ballooned into madness. I'm not good at writing short stories, or anything really. But Horizon is a theme that sparked an idea. I shan't say whether or not I'm going to do this yet. I don't like to commit to something and then fail at the task. But as usual, myr and Cia spews forth knowledge and it gets my tiny brain going. And though I have no idea what the Secret Author theme is, or even if its been announced, I think I'm going to do that again. Oh yeah, AI, myr's use of AI got me thinking in the direction of Horizon, something on the edge of becoming commonplace. So if I write about AI, I shall blame you, loudly and publicly. As for @Krista claiming no desire to spoon feed people, I shall remain silent as I am being good this week. But come on...am I right? This kind of counts as remaining Unspoken, something I also fail at repeatedly.
  8. You can only post a chapter a day of any story, or you can post a new different story chapter every 12 hours, I think, something like. As for enough of me, I thought the photos I sent would have carried you over. I guess you need more photos of me cooking dinner. .
  9. Not according to GA's posting guidelines. You can only post a chapter a day (no one tell him the real policy please), so I posted one today, tomorrow is Gabriel's Gambit, and Frosted hearts on Monday. Then I'll post the final two chapters and will start working on the next project.
  10. Okay, do you want Frosted Hearts or Gabriel's Gambit? Hmm, HMMMM
  11. Michael does seem to be a bit off most of the time. I wonder how Sheila can stomach being married to him.
  12. That statement sums up their relationship to a tee, doesn't it? They seem to think you never have to pay for credit, just push it off for next month. Those silly gooses, I can't wait to read the next chapter. .
  13. From the very beginning, Percy seems to shy away from his bravery. He didn't want the newspaper article about him, he keeps telling people it was nothing, that anyone would do it. Yet when the chips are down, Percy never hesitates to put himself in harms way to save others. I think that's brave too. Five acted like a friend, but you can also see how much he loves Percy. Running in deep snow, carrying a person, that takes an enormous amount of willpower to continue through the pain. I'm not sure if they belong together, but I know they believe that. I think the time for pretending is over. Now lets see how they handle that.
  14. Michael is reckless, fixated on a goal that no one really understands. People like that rarely get what's coming to them, I bet you he sells his technology to NenTek and makes millions. Next chapter, an ear worm ravishes his brain and he starts smelling the color yellow. It's a touching scene.
  15. All the scenes with Michael were the ones I stressed over. I hope they came across as I intended. Smarmy was my intention, not a bad guy but a clueless one. Let's see what happens now that everyone is safe back at PineCrest.
  16. But it was the wrong Monday, Mr. The Dog!
  17. “Why do I have to come?” Five asked, for the tenth time, as he pulled the cover off the snowmobile. “Because apparently his data proved something and he needs to do something else,” Percy replied vaguely. Five stared at him. “It didn’t make sense to me either,” Percy said with a shrug. “All I know is we get to enjoy his company today.” “Well, I guess we can look at it this way,” Five said as he settled the helmet on his head. “If he proves his thingy, we don’t have to dea
  18. That's because you never stooped to their level of silliness. Like me, you remained above it.
  19. Planning for the Super Bowl, the free watch party a block away, press and interviews, and then the actual planning of the day itself, my time is constricted. And we are in negotiation for doing a hot wing spicy challenge, and I want to hide my head in someone's lap. But I'm moving on, upwards, and perpendicularly towards that one fucking stupid sports balls day. I should just close and hide away until after its over.

    Chapter 32 S3

Not to comment bomb this story, but since you called him Mr. Dog first, I'll change mine to Mr. The Dog. Because every time I say Weiner, I start giggling. I just realized that I started this new name. So @weinerdog was being sarcastic, and that went right over my head. So I will change my statement, you are very welcome Mr. The Dog! .
  21. I am having a horrific time with one scene. I've tried to make it suspenseful but I don't think I'm nailing it. The rest of the chapter is really good but that one damn scene is driving me crazy. It shall be posted tonight or tomorrow morning. It's not helping that since New Years, we have been busier than ever so my free time during the day suddenly became limited. But I'll get my act together. I think this was the last bit I had trouble with. So the rest of it should go reather quickly.

    Chapter 32 S3

Because when respect is earned, they get a Mr. in front of their name.
  23. I'm super sorry about this...but I'm committed and it will make the Okie guy laugh. And though I've been good the last few days at redacting things, this one is pointed in my direction so I shan't...I should...but I shan't. *sighs* It needed to be said. In the final chapter, it needed to be known. Super sorry. But one last time I took it off the rails.
