CSR Book Club Csr Discussion Day: Joe The Welder By Robert Rex
mollyhousemouse commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Robert, Due to ill children and other household issues, I wasn't able to be here when this was "live" I do hope though that you'll see this. I loved "Joe" I love the way you write. I don't think that the parenthesis, and dots, and semi colons are at all a sign of ADD! They are apparent in our daily conversations and the pauses and deep breaths we take when we talk face to face. I appreciate the gentleness with which you bring the story along. I also appreciate the honest, open, caring in your love scenes. I'm not here for a quick turn on. I am a sucker for a sappy love story, I love a good tear inducing soap opera, and happy endings should come with laughter and happy tears! I'm really enjoying Landfall now. I can't wait to see how Rex and Joe help Dave and Barry. With all that Rex and Joe have gone through, they will be great friends/resources for our agent and his "charge" I love the idea of your May/September romance! I know some of those couples! I'll stop the verbal diarrhea and this "fan-girl" note by saying simply, if you write it, I'll read it! Chris "mollyhousemouse" -
Prompts Writing Prompts #388 & #389
mollyhousemouse commented on Renee Stevens's blog entry in Writing World
Very nice, Carlos! My oldest son tried to do this with his weekly spelling words many years ago. -
She doesn't get it from me...
mollyhousemouse commented on craftingmom's blog entry in Craftingmom's Blog
Hello! I'm kind of new to all of the chats and blogs so I just saw this entry. I have my own teen army, (twin 14 year olds and their 21 year old brother) with homework issues, so I can empathize. I was wondering if your non-writer would do better with a talk to type program like Dragon? That way she can just "dictate" her work. I found that with Number One Son talking through the paper first was always easier. Hope that this spring semester is easier on both of you! Chris aka mollyhousemouse -
The Twisted Tale of Donnie Malone - No Prompt
mollyhousemouse commented on Cole Matthews's story chapter in The Twisted Tale of Donnie Malone - No Prompt
Cole...... Again, you have captured my imagination and made me care about your characters. I *am* old enough to remember that Newhart finale, and love that twist! Thanks so much for being brave enough to share this with us! Chris -
Chapter 1 Deuces Wild
mollyhousemouse commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 1 Deuces Wild
I'm late to the party on the reviews so I'm not sure what more there is to add here. But, Gary, wow. I was teary eyed and speechless. The depth of emotion, the pain, you captured it so well. I *knew* it would be great! Now the waiting for more begins. Chris -
I am so taken with this story! I think I've read and re-read it about 9 times now! Someone commented about Ashlee's skirt and if it would really fly in Austin, because, you know, Texas. Austin is unlike any other town or city here. We've lived here now for 4 years (second time around, the first time for about 5 years) and yes, a guy wearing a flirty little skirt would be not unusual. Especially if they were on 6th Street! After all, we once had a cross dressing, bikini top, thong and pink tutu wearing, roller blading, homeless person run for mayor.(google Leslie in Austin) And the motto of the city is "Keep Austin Weird" Niether Ashlee nor Clem would be out of place here.

SO Not a Typical Monday!
mollyhousemouse commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in SO Not a Typical Monday!
Thanks for the journey! I love it when the characters are so real, and these two are like a couple of people I know! I see great things in the future for this family. And now, I sit, and not so patiently wait for Landfall.... (it's going to be a long weekend, sigh) Chris -
Sometimes You Get What You Need
mollyhousemouse commented on Sasha Distan's story chapter in Sometimes You Get What You Need
Thank you. Thank you for the love story. Thank you for making me love Kier and his Sparrow. Thank you for not dragging it out, sometimes, less is truly more. I've always loved motor sports, F1, Indy Car, NASCAR, and have been able to see some of the motorcycle racing that Kier does. That you were able to articulate the "between the heartbeats" moments was spectacular. I can't wait to read more from you! Chris -
First things first, I am so glad that you are feeling strong enough to write again, and I hope and pray that you continue to heal and get strong. This chapter! Oh. My. Goodness! The community that you have built with these characters is so real! I can plop members of my own "chosen family" right into the story. The love and affection that Zeke and Quint have is stirring. The bond that is growing with the small cadre of friends is heartening. I'm loving that men who are so different (really, they are) can be so in tune with each other! OK, time to go read it for a third time! Be well!

WOW! First off, as a native of that area, (my dad's cousin was actually the mayor of one of those small mountain towns now affected by small stakes gaming, and my granddad graduated from Idaho Springs High School after helping to build Oh My God Road) I really appreciated the way you wove the feeling of the mountain in there. Especially the regularly scheduled 3pm rain shower! I really feel David's angst, even 50 years later, for being different. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story!

Oh, if only we all had people in our lives who love us like Shas and Robin love Kier. To have family who know you, who love you with all your foibles. To have a lover who was so observant that he knows what tics are happening. (And stop tonguing your lip. You’ll split it open again.” Kieran ceased the action and frowned. “Are you spying on me?” “Wouldn’t that be fun? No, you just did it all the time at the stag. It’ll never heal if you do that.”) To have a lover who so inflames you that you quite literally rip the shirt from his back. You've made me want to be a better lover to try to find what Kier and his Sparrow are finding in each other. Thank you so much for this story!........Chris

Dangerous; Beautiful
mollyhousemouse commented on Sasha Distan's story chapter in Dangerous; Beautiful
Oh, Kier. To be so blessed, to have two people in your life who love you so much. Shas who loves you so completely as a brother, as a son maybe even, and more importantly as a dear, special friend. And Robin, his own little Sparrow, who loves him with such depth. To see in Kieran that spark that needs fed to keep Kieran, well, Kieran. And the way he spoke to Becca, who I'll acknowledge really is just looking out for her little brother, such feeling. And the way he knew he was being harsh, and acknowledged that to himself. Such growth! Oh, what love does to us. -
It was just yesterday I was telling you how wonderful the American Songbook series was and wondering if we would see another "cut" soon! Sasha, this was so exquisite! When Jonas was in the wardrobe I had tears in my eyes! I could feel his fear, and the love from Seth. As the story unfolded, you could sense that the three years with Seth had started to heal Jonas and that the scars were starting to fade. Just a bit. Thanks!

Please, I may resort to begging here, please let there be another installment or two soon? What a wonderful way to waste a boring afternoon at work these were. I'm a bit perturbed at the "one chapter and one chapter only" thing, but I get it. I'm a big fan of what you've written here. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!

I woke up today, fully believing that it was Friday. Only to have cold water dashed in my face on discovering my error. It was not a good morning! UNTIL I hit the browser button on my phone and opened GayAuthors.org and found this chapter! While the coffee was being made and teenagers were grousing about being up so early, I was grinning from ear to ear! That Oli is so attuned to what Boris/Buddy is telling me, to his own feelings, that Andrea is such a wonderful mother! The kids couldn't get over the change in my attitude as I read today's installment! Thanks for making my Thursday!

Mixed Midnight Emotions
mollyhousemouse commented on Sasha Distan's story chapter in Mixed Midnight Emotions
Oh you clever, clever writer you! "Kieran sat on the beach and watched the promenade:...a man with a large wolf-dog, walking along with his fingers in the animal’s thick ruff; " I had to read it twice! Working Boris/Buddy and Oli in there! Kieran does have a lot to work out, but man, he is growing in leaps and bounds here! I'm falling for him myself! Well done! -
How can you make it up to me? Geez, I'm not sure. Let me read a sneak peek?
-
Trying to be patient for the next chapter, but I am feeling so drawn to these people! I'm really enjoying the way you gently weave the back story in. I appreciate not being hit over the head with it. I think I'll go re-read the first 3 chapters....... Have a great Saturday!

I just love these guys! Love the way they care for each other and back each other up! I hope after the confrontation with MaryAnn our boys can get back to the business of being students and pack mates. I can't wait to see how CE helps Sam. I've read the whole story 4 or 5 times now waiting for new chapters to appear!
