We come out of this date with even more admiration for West.

Kris Kristofferson wrote the song based on Barbara "Bobbie" McKee. He misheard the name. The song works out gender neutral, so it's been recorded by male and female artists. Gotta love Janis and her plaintive, whiskey tinged snarl.
