Quadratics Parabolas, you might suppose, are curves which every person knows, for you can find them everywhere, from tropic heat to polar floes. Equations with an x to square are curves, not lines, when you compare them side by side with x that's plain, or lines bereft of x and bare. Well, some of my questions are answered. Stefan remains both reserved and mysterious. But he has a way of getting others to open up. Nice chapter.

A very tough chapter, but you planted some seeds of hope, too. Hand in hand, we get to watch them take root.

So much in this chapter is heartbreaking, both the horrible Miriam, and the beautiful recollection of Louis' grandmother. It was indeed very dangerous, once. It still is, but in fewer parts of the world, which is a blessing. People like the grandmother make the world brighter and safer for those who are scared. But danger remains: it is clear that Miriam, loony as she may seem, is also as dangerous as the bike Donny rode.

Thank you for writing this. You tell us of a shame and a hurt in nature which at 100 kmh cannot bear reflection. But walking and biking let us see the damage wrought on the earth, and on ourselves.

Such a powerful set of images, the scenes come to me in black and white. And each one is a string and a rope to make the reader your puppet. This is going to haunt me.

This is a lovely second installment. You a very, very good about describing the 'is he or isn't he serious?' question. That Roger gets hit with both Charlie's coming out, and forced into his own at the same time is so very real in terms of the characters Yiu ha built up. I should definitely like a third, and fourth chapter. And more than that, too.

This is an excellent story, telling us exactly what we need to know without overplaying details. You make it about Cory and his pain, without having that character present at all. Wonderfully done.
