  1. You understand what I had in mind exactly. The swimming metaphor can be taken several ways, not all of them benign or neutral. And even though the tide may have turned, is it too late to go for that swim? It is the opportunity, the chance that dances before the eyes like moonlight on the water. But take it, and will the light still be there? Crossroad is both empathetic and wondering, as you suggest. I am very glad that these resonated with you, and that my own ache spoke to yours.

Awesome metaphors, and even better paired together as you have them. I am particularly taken by Dandelions. Beautifully observed.

    Intimacies

Oh, yes. Simple, direct appeals to the tactile. I am so there.
  4. Poor Oliver can do many sorts of problems well, but not damage control. Of course, he was thoroughly confused, but you have a good point. I imagine Martin was terribly unhappy, too.

Thankfully, no blood. But we can be hunters, nonetheless. As you say, passion and desire in the last heat of summer. I am so very glad you liked it.

Your words echo down the ages, and paint the walls in tears for those who were maimed by these men you describe. How can they justify themselves? There is no answer except the selfish ego and misguided desire. Your poem makes us aware and awake to such men.
  7. Thanks so much, Val. These have an unsettled feel, even as I know that so much is impermanent. I am glad you sensed this, too. May is what I intended. Thanks for catching it! I fixed that. Sough is a nice, obscure word - the sound of a soft breeze or zephyr moving through the branches. You are kind to have read so many of these installments. I appreciate your taking the time to respond to them.
  8. tim, I owe you a deep debt of gratitude. You did a most marvelous thing for which I give thanks every day. And see how far your encouragement has gone today? I am glad you liked these.
  9. Choices are the bricks and mortar of lives, perhaps. Oh, that's a good topic for another....Poem.
  10. Crossroad Uncertain at an intersection stood a figure clad in median and mode, unable to decide upon the road, which chosen, theoretically it could take such an average person where he would; yet here upon the journey was he slowed as all around him traffic ever flowed, a middle man in search of perfect good. I pitied him, his head bare to the rain, for at that crossroad I stopped once before, and sought, despite discomforts, to remain, for though I had no d

    Epilogue

A wonderful, smiling ending to a great story. That noise you hear outside? It's the collective sigh of all your readers. Thank you for sharing it with us. Liam and Alek will be characters we remember for a long time.
  12. It was beautiful the first time I read this; it's still beautiful now. I suspect that it will be that way always. Kind of like hope itself. Thank you.

I am very glad the taste agreed with you. It makes for a warm, yet delectable dish, I think.
  14. Thank you, Def. Not sure I can use this in my classes, either.

    Chapter 5

Devan, holding everything in, is going to get ill with ulcers or blow up on someone. Circumstances have been so hard on him. Stefan, still tied to a manipulative Chris, is also a victim. What hurts lie in store for this increasingly engaging cast of characters?

    Chapter 4

Chris knows how to play Stefan like a fiddle: tighten some strings, unwind others, try to let the music flow like it always did. But one can get careless with the heart. It isn't a soulless instrument. And what happens when a string is wound so tight something snaps or breaks?
  17. Thank you, Drew! And knowing some mathematics makes them all the more fun. Mathematical textbooks are surely missing out by avoiding poetry altogether. But doing 'function aerobics' in PreCalculus class may not be quite the same... thanks again. P

    Chapter 7

So Cal used the L- word, finally. Davey still needs to convince Cal of what Davey sees, and that it is true. Having Ben as a friend and ally would be a huge plus.

    Chapter 6

Are you in love with Cal, Davey? I sure hope so, because as much as a broken heart would hurt you, it would destroy Cal.

    Chapter 5

Yes, wonderfully steamy. And Cal made Davey stop working...no more alpha boss...but I do wonder what made Stephen bad for Davey, and what makes Cal so very right.

    Chapter 4

For now, the bonds of intimacy and physical attraction glue Davey and Cal together. But can they learn to grow roots that hold them to one another? Not that the sex wasn't wonderful....

    Chapter 3

Cal is betting everything on Davey. And who knows? It sounds as if Davey is doing the same with Cal. Now maybe dame fortune will smile on them both.

    Chapter 2

Well Cal has plenty of courage, that's certain. It's one thing to steal a car from a dark deserted street, quite another to steal a man's heart in front of his friends.

    Chapter 1

An interesting start, with an antihero I want to know better. And then - oh, dear.
  25. We shall have lots of time to practice, then.
