  1. If anything can be recalled from this visit, it is the love, recollected with every quiet breath, every beep of medical machinery, every twitch of a finger. Thank you for reading and responding to these.
  2. No, go, this us not an easy experience to distill into words. But maybe they help to ease the ache, and remind me of the love that remains. Thank you for your care and strength.
  3. These distilled several long days in a tiny dimly lit hospital room. They are like snapshots, perhaps. Thank you so much.
  4. Numbers one, two and four practically had me gasping, they hit hard enough. Numbers three and nine will stay with me, for a very long time. Five, six and eight I find stirring, spurring me to do something. The emptiness in number ten echoes in my head. You have written a set for the ages, tim.

    The Tale

And now the Bard, beloved, sleeps while there his handsome champion keeps a watch in his devoted bliss; when Bard awakes, they'll more than kiss... Wonderful!

    Introduction

You took the horns of Homer's bull, and wrote a tale both fun and full, a story for both young and old which you most marvelously told.
  7. Pale, translucent skin drawn across ancient cheekbones belies a live mind. Blue eyes, bright with tears recall a lifetime of love, laughter and blessing. Warm hands, still holding, brief, whispered words caressing, promise forever.
  8. What a great story that perfectly fit the theme. And you tell it with compact, elegant strokes.

    Dissonants

    Thanks. I shall smile, then.

    Dissonants

If these affected you badly, I grieve - for I would not see you hurt. But if you found these worthy of thought and reflection, then I can smile.

    Dissonants

I am glad this poem engaged you. I haunted me for a long time. I hope it sticks with you, too.

    Dissonants

Thank you. So much can gleam in the dust, but we walk by it and over it...
  13. The Maker He labors in his workshop all the day, a craftsman best acquainted with his tools to bend and fashion wood as it were clay, or wiser men made over into fools. So he regarded me, unfinished steel, to make of me as inspiration chose, regardless of the hurt I'd surely feel when laid upon the saw, for so it goes. Recoil against the whirling, screaming blade which severs neatly, delicate and plain;
  14. Thanks to tim for introducing me to AC and his fantastic body of work. The Famous - Barr stories are incredible. And I have enjoyed Lust and Chastity. Die, Catfish, Die will be added to my reading list... Thanks, Dark for this fun feature...
  15. Dear Emi - such hard and unanswerable questions you pose in this poem. How difficult it is to look into the darkness and hear them echo into the caverns of time. But that you can pose them here in this form means both you and the reader - us - can ponder them, and maybe find a voice that will answer. But in all things, your words are powerful.

    Mated

This was so good to find this morning. Thank you so very, very much for reading this, and for your kind and generous remarks. Funny how one can make friends as soon as one stops making the self the center of one's life...funny how love can break open the hard shells we form around ourselves. Possibly the best part of your note was that you, like me, admitted to tears - they are hard to write through, but wonderfully satisfying in the end. Scott became the man he was meant to be.
  17. Definitely worth a long wait. Thank you!

    Chapter One

What a fun premise for the story. It seems like Matthew has a new obsession; singing with his unseen partner, and figuring out who he might be. It will be interesting for Matthew to actually meet the shy, mysterious singer. Come to think of it, I'd be pretty shy, myself.
  19. What a great ski holiday you took us on! I feel for poor Travis, the ski instructor - all those ineligible men! The food for all those guys must have been enough for a semi-trailer. But the best thing was definitely the last bit at New Year's. CJ finally, naturally, used the L-word, causing kissus interruptus. Great way to finish!
  20. I am glad that made you smile. Sometimes, serendipity presents one with a perfect opportunity. ...

    Chapter 11

Hard to relive the incident, especially from Bailey's viewpoint. But you provide insights into Bailey that are terribly important, and the images of that night are haunting.

    Chapter 17

Corey can speak convincingly. One can really see Liam in this chapter as Corey helps him confront a tough decision, and make a choice. Great dialogue, as usual, and wonderful the way you have the characters keep the focus on Liam.
  23. Congratulations tim! This news turned a grey morning into brilliant sunshine!
  24. Tragic and uncannily timeless in its description of North American school lives. The poetic story is well told and full of nervous tension - even though we know how it will end. It is beautiful in its sadness.
