Well, I will save my bottle of Barolo for you. April 24 felt like something light trying to break through darkness. 29 and its modern images simply would not be ignored. Thank you!
The dawn chorus never ceases to inspire or amaze me. And study hall seems refined torture for adults, too... long bus rides to games are full of interest if one puts away the phone...thanks so much for reading!
These are wonderful final movie goers poems. I am drawn to April 29, and to then If-perhaps prompt. However, They are elegant and focused. And thanks for organizing April 30!
The images in these remind me of Dickens, or something late Victorian. Rank overgrown gardens and decaying estates come to mind, along with the title Bleak House. These are discomfortable, unsettling, even frightening. They are marvels if simplicity.
April 23
I.
I shift to move into the light
and hold at bay encroaching night,
yet ere I go to darkness blue,
some questions would I put to flight:
I'd like to know if it was true
of what I guessed, but never knew,
was something which we might have shared,
a deeper bond 'twixt me and you?
Was it the stars which blindly erred,
misfortune leaving us unspared,
to separate two boys confused,
who might their Rubicon have dared?
Why were my daydreams

Many thanks for sticking with the story and for all your encouraging comments. Confession : I kinda choked up writing this chapter, myself. Thanks again.
This particular prompt invites us to describe a slice of life - a tiny sliver of it - and you do that with great detail and powerful description. I was especially fond of the reference to the children playing, talking about their puppies.
Thanks for this slice of December. You made CJ's number eighteen very special. But so many people want a part of him - how hard that must be, both for CJ, and for Ozzie, and for his friends, too. Thiago had just a bit of an echo of that. Or maybe it was just my own hearing. HRC, the Obamas, all the foundation stuff...CJ could be forgiven if he made a headstrong mistake or two.
Great chapter - now awaiting part II next week!
Lisa, thank you very much for your generous and kind comments. I am so glad you stayed with the story through Scott's ugliest chapters to watch him grow and change into someone new. Marc and Lee gave Scott the first thing he needed - a chance to turn a corner. Then Javier and Oscar showed him what he could have. And Graham fell for Scott, even as Scott fell for Graham. I hope you will enjoy my next project, but I am a slow writer, so it may be a little while...in the meantime, I will be encouraged to know there will be someone wanting to read it! Thanks again.
I like Liam best when he thinks through his choices and is comfortable with them...it seems that he had never been wholly comfortable giving up Alek. It will be interesting to see if this will spur Liam to resolve this in some way. However you write it, I am sure it will be enjoyable.
At first reading, the Poetical Frustration stood out to me. Those moments you describe so aptly have stretched out for weeks with me...I can really relate. A second reading convinced me that the Tanka mist touched my heart. A third reading confirmed that choice, even though 'merged boxes' came a close second. The Tanka spoke to me of joy in the glorious spring; you touched me with thoughts of resurgent hope. Thank you!
You know I like this. I feel so badly for Bailey, and being at the center of a swirl of gossip and conversation doesn't help. You write this with acuity and compassion.
Thank you for your encouraging words that convinced me to finish this story. Thanks, too for reading the finished product, and for your supportive words. Xo P
Thank you very much for reading the story - for sticking with it through its dark chapters, and watching the slow transformation in Scott. I am also a sucker for redemption stories. And I think this will definitely qualify as HEA. Thanks for your support!
