I fear that this is part of the difficulty of wanting someone to get his comeuppance. It is so very painful to watch, even in those we dislike. It is in our very dislike that we dehumanize the other. Our predator, for all his many flaws and evils, is a human like us. And yes, it is chilling to see. Thanks for your willingness to make it through chapter three, and for your response.

Good for CJ for thinking clearly about drinking while his head was clear enough to do so. Your descriptions of his travels and encounters makes me want to start making travel plans. But it just surely help to have someone as knowledgeable and friendly as Owen to be a tour guide. I wonder how CJ's heart is faring? Or Owen's for that matter? Great chapter!

I know exactly what you mean. I have had this conundrum, but liked things I thought were good solid pieces of writing, even though I found them painful to read. In this story, You have been through three very hard chapters, and I thank you for that. The hardest part is to realize that while this account is fictional, these things do happen to real people. The man who was a predator is now being bound and devoured. Karma? Maybe so, but it is one thing to wish it on someone, another to have it happen...thanks so much for being willing to read this, and for your response.

For a whole lot of reasons, I loved this chapter. Coming out to Billy, reconnecting to Adrian, realizing the hurt of losing Kenny isn't going to kill him, realizing that Marty may be right...all excellent, all really good. The only problem is, I want more!

Your first - Will He Never Leave Me - is so very chilling; just the way you composed it, it almost dances with maniacal glee. But you won't be left alone by any of us, either. That little voice cannot dance away love, in my opinion. Questions Without Answers affected me, too. You ask questions that occur to me regularly. I have to think affirmatively, but the need to ask, the need to consider and think things through is human. I agree with Gary that your poetry is a gift, not just to lucky us, but to anyone who reads it. And I think that your questions are especially important, because we all have to work out our own answers, if answers exist. It's not mathematical, after all. -

This is an utterly engaging story. You make it seem so real, so easily imaginable. I want to know more about Jae and Dave; more about how they live in this grey, hollow, lonely and hollow world. Surely even this chapter shows they are making it more human. Wonderful start, and now I want much more...

I blush deeply at your very kind and generous words. 'Stranger' was indeed inspired by that awkward gent in the mirror; I am glad the inversion at the end worked for you. 'In Hiding' is more deeply felt. Thanks for reading these and for your response to them.

These were written in the middle of a dark span of days; the light returned, and these words were left. The poet appears to have someone who will not hunt him down, someone who can help hold the stranger at bay. And in that, there is hope. Many thanks for your very kind and generous words. One time or another, we feel these, you're right there. Don't feel too sad for the poor author; it appears there may be someone there to chase away the stranger, and someone in whom to shelter from the unmerciful. Hugs^2. P

That old guy is there every morning! How did he get there? And you know him, too! Goodness, he must get around...and you are very good to understand the dilemma of keeping some things deeply to ourselves. Your return to the first stanza - and it is so very powerful - amplifies the emotion in this poem. The loneliness and endlessness of nighttime starlit driving makes for a perfect metaphor. You hit on it so naturally, it hurts. Many thanks for sharing this poem!

This chapter made me feel as apprehensive as you described Jackson to be. Old environment not being safe, new competition, and plenty of conflicts with new characters. The last two paragraphs really reveal so much of what Jackson has to live for, and that he can see it give me hope as a reader for a better, happier Jackson...and maybe a happier Luke, too. Awesome chapter, and thank you!

The predator certainly got a surprise. But Ted is a riddle, even though it is abundantly clear that he is perfectly capable of giving the predator a large dose of his own medicine. You bring uO so many questions, and I fear I can answer none of them. But I am very glad you chose to read a second chapter of this story. Thank you so much for reading!

Stranger I waken with a stranger in my bed, his features intimately known, yet odd, for he has residence inside my head, a condominium by chance or God. I do not want to recognize him, though he sleeps upon my pillow every night; he's old and grey, his wits are rather slow, and when he smiles, small children run in fright. What happened that this dreary man appeared, displacing one who was my inmost friend with him whose speech and thinking are so weird, but on his daily cowardice attend?

Well now we know where Kenny stands. Kenny, who apparently needs to have some introspection time, too. Marty is still a great guy, and hopefully can help Zac tell his family, and soon. As for his friends, Zac May gave to let time heal wounds he cannot salve on his own. Great chapter, and all too real.
