Finished chapter 9 .. .wrote 3,000 words today. Seriously, sleeping is overrated.

i roast squash for the most part.. much easier to scrap it out after roasting, or cut into thin slices and roast with the skin on, just don't eat it. We didn't eat the Delicata skins .. but the flesh inside is amazing.

If you can find this one... https://www.farmersalmanac.com/delicata-squash-33154 buy it, roast it and taste it. We added nothing, it was creamy and sweet and i swear we both stood in the kitchen and looked at each other and said OMG that is f'g amazing. We bought as many as we could get.

me too .. we've had so much local food, it's really great. Michael and i have enjoyed all the types of squash we've had. Cant see us not liking this.. i'll roast this one and all the little beets we got. The squash we'll have for dinner and the beets i'll pickle .. we love beets.

We couldn’t let them go to waste, so we hope everyone can make good use of them! • Sun Tan peppers are rejected from the green pepper harvest since they have a very slight (sometimes unnoticeable) tinge of red caused by increased sun exposure. • Everything except the tomatoes, pears, and squash should be refrigerated immediately to preserve shelf life (the peaches can be left out if they’ll be consumed within a day). • *We had a limited supply of nectarines today (that’s the way it goes sometimes in the produce rescue business), so some boxes had extra peaches as a substitute.

there's a floor to ceiling window in there.. we get lots of light and breeze .. a corner apartment is the best.

This week's fun fare ... 5x baby bok choy, 2 tomatoes, a winter mystery squash, 3x green peppers, 10 plums, 10 peaches, 4x small cucumbers, 12 beets on the smaller size and 4 pears. We get a list of veggies.. once i get that i will update the mystery squash. That's a lot of food!!

Yes, it's been brilliant. We look forward to receiving it each week. We've eaten nearly everything. Just a couple of pears and a tomato left. But we'll eat them too. We make sure we use things... no waste. We had the bok choy last night in a stir fry. Mmmm, good. Thanks Reader!!

Thanks for your comments. Such a waste, it's shameful. The sad thing is we live not too far from Niagara, where they grow stone fruit like, peaches, plums, apricots and pears also (which aren't a stone fruit but ). Anyway the point is we've not bothered to buy local peaches in our store for years, because they were awful. We've gotten a lot in our weekly box and they have been so good. Tasty, ripe, juicy ... like a fresh peach should be. Plums also. And a variety of different ones, some we've never seen in a store. Some are tiny, some are larger, now and again there's a blemish or an odd cucumber. We had one shaped like an inch worm.. because it had grown over something else. It was perfectly delicious. Getting this box has varied our diet, forced us to think of different things to cook. We've tried things we normally never would have bought, but have learned we really enjoy. It's great to receive this box of beautiful fresh food each week. I just think, if we had a garden and grew a bent cucumber or a bunch of tiny apples, we'd eat them. We're both glad we joined up!! i've not mentioned this to my Husband. i have a fairly good idea what He'd say. Most likely the same as you i'm sure. He's a bit fussy about doing the right things within the law. At a guess, I'd say the law is the same here.

All i can say is wow the ethics of this are pretty sketchy.

i've read a lot of stories on GA but for me the best i've read has to be the Judas Tree series. An amazing and beautifully crafted story, written through the eyes of a young boy. It is a story of growing up and learning what the world around us is truly like. It is about the loss of a beautiful innocence but it is also about hope. This story showed me what the art and craft of writing truly can be.

okay ... i didn't dare speak about this before.. but i am happy today. just finished chapter 7 on my latest story.. i think i can actually see finishing this. Working title is Kidnapped ... dark but with glimmers of hope and an uneasy walk toward the end. Maybe another 5 chapters to go.. then editing and more editing and reading. But i know where the road will take these characters .. but who knows... trees fall on roads and there are forks... but i think i can finish this one.

We signed up for weekly veggie delivery. Their mandate is to distribute fruit and vegetables that are not 'good' enough to sell to the usual markets and stores and sell them to subscribers weekly. It's $18 for the 'solo' box and $3 for delivery. So far it's been great. We've eaten everything, tried new things and enjoyed it all. We've had the most amazingly fresh food. It's cheaper and so much better than what we can purchase in our local grocery store. We've had the best peaches and cantaloupe we've had in years. We get our box of veg on Thursday and then figure out what to make with all the things we have. Then do groceries on Friday. Our diet is more varied. Best move we've made in years. Who knew there were Baby Gold Peaches? So different from what we usually know as peaches. Luckily we both like just about every vegetable which makes it easier for us to enjoy this. Check around your neck of the woods, maybe they there's a local option.

i like this but i'd like it more without the 'that is life' bit. Most of life is life because if its not it's death.

wonderful .. we just got told that a 200 ft section of one of our busiest downtown roads/subway stations will likely be closed for half a decade aka 5 years, due to construction. Such fun. i pity those who have to be down there. i don't thankfully.
