Nah. I experimented with the threesome in another story once, already! I really don't see the picture challenge as a competition between authors. It's a challenge to create a story around the picture. All the stories in every one of those challenges are good reads. And, DQ, it is not old, out of touch, or prudish to have one love only. It's not only sensible (and less trouble), but it's really the only satisfying relationship there is.

I always enjoy writing from picture prompts, and I don't usually go for the throat in what I write. I have written a few more turbid tales, never posted...maybe I need to try one of them here sometime.

I see nothing wrong with a story told in a single scene. I think you did it here, and well. Better than others, too! Consider Samuel Beckett (though his scene was much longer than yours, and Godot never did get himself there! ). DQ, don't you bother with Beckett. You would just be very annoyed!

Another sweet and somewhat painful chapter. Linda's shopping trip with mor was sobering. War should never be the last experience in anyone's life. Miniskirts, either! I enjoyed sitting around the campfire with the guys, and the playful and expectant mood there. When I was a kid, ghost stories worked at any time of the year, but then we were in the deeper woods, and that had its own feel about it that kind of lent to ghost stories. And, that was mostly before we discovered beer and other alcohol products. But marshmallows are always fun, and always best with good friends, and that special someone next to you at the fire. Great chapter. -
Hmm. Another interesting item from you, dangling before our eyes. I couldn't quite tell if the use of 'dad' was familial or just casual. The first hangs a lot of questions out there...but so does the second. Some of the way the young guy was described sounded almost like the main character was seeing him for the first time. But it could also have been...rats! You'll just have to write more, I guess! Please?

I liked these thoughts on keys, especially as they apply to so many different types of keys. Not the least of which are those on your keyboard, which you certainly seem to know how to use well!

Yeah, you should have a career in advertising. Create those TV commercials that tease a viewer into really looking at this STUPENDOUS product, and then suddenly break away and say, 'To be continued...' Evil! But still fun, in a teeth-gritting sort of way! -

I've heard of wide open spaces, but c'mon! It's an insult to use books as a trap. But I can see the soulless forces of despotism doing that very thing. After the Nazis cleaned out the Warsaw ghetto and pretty much razed it flat, they were aware that there were still a few Jews hiding in places they had not found as yet. What they did was to send a few soldiers around in broad daylight, as if inspecting. Then the soldiers would sit down in an open place and eat their lunches from small knapsacks. At the end, they would get up and leave. One soldier would 'accidentally' leave his knapsack there on the ground, in plain sight. A sniper would be waiting upon a rooftop, for the inevitable hungry hider to appear. Makes you want to scream a little, doesn't it?

Interesting. Poised at the event horizon of a micro-miniature black hole passing through the solar system, our heroes watched in awe as reality was rewritten before their very eyes! Unfortunately, the new book was without an index, leaving our heroes wishing desperately for a Cliff Notes of their lives! Thanks! -

Aww! HELL of a place to hang a cliff! Or to hang FROM one, rather! MAN! I don't know that I would have done well in such a setting as these old time Brit schools. This 'class' stuff irks me. I think I would have been given the boot for telling some prick like Settle what I thought of his 'superiority'. Great chapter. I don't think my blood has boiled so nicely in some time!
