Personification is one of my favourite starting points for a short story. Glad you enjoyed it. ๐

Yes, Carlos, it's very obviously early you, but it's a sweet story nevertheless. And yes, I meant 'sweet', ๐คจ๐ something you're not normally famed for. Reading the comments was another pleasure - you really caught people's attention.

Thank you for reading. ๐

Indeed... ๐คจ๐ Thanks for reading.

Bruce tried to ignore the aches and pains that afflicted him from top to bottom. Sunlight, low, warm, and golden, streamed into the lounge and caressed his lower limbs. Unexpected brightness, reflected in the French windows, was dazzling when his head occupied one particular position. Standing upright required more strength than he currently possessed. He felt unbalanced. Unsteady. Even more so because the lounge carpet from previous winters had gone completely, replaced by some slippery faux-wo

Christmas is Bruce's special time of year, a time he shines, but there's always a shadow...

Hi, @grahamsealby. In the absence of any other response, I thought some clarification from you might be useful. Are you trying to renew a premium subscription? If so, have you tried going to https://gayauthors.org/subscriptions/? Down the RH side (on a computer), there's a list of menu options. 'Payment methods' looks like the way to go. If you've tried this and are still experiencing difficulties, Myr or whoever, will need to know this. If you can give details of what's happened (or not happened), that will also be useful.

If you want to uncork stuff, all that stuff which is inside you, brooding, lurking, and coiled, become a writer. I've learned that. So have you. Good, isn't it? ๐คจ๐

Old Friends and Perfection
northie commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Old Friends and Perfection
It can take many years to accept yourself, whether as you stand in front of the mirror or just contemplate who you think you are. Acceptance is powerful. In some ways, it can make or break your life, I'm glad you're in a good place, Archimedes' bafflement notwithstanding. ๐คจ๐๐ -
And the spinelessness of those teams (with the honourable exception of Germany) who thought wearing an armband was too great a risk. The Iranian team literally risked their lives to protest what is going on in their country. The world cup in Qatar is sportwashing at its finest.

OK... So, how do I like my eggs? As far away from me as possible. ๐คข Favourite story on GA? I'm a notoriously bad reader and I prefer to listen nowadays. Anything by @Headstall, @Parker Owens, or @Carlos Hazday at least grabs my interest, if not my prolonged attention. ๐คจ What brought me to GA? Probably Nifty's severely out-dated 'Best of the web' listing which pointed me to other story sites. Book title for my life? Revelation(s) Favourite soup? Not home made... any Indian-spiced lentil & vegetable.

Thanks for keeping the tradition going, guys, though I'll admit to not finding the time to actually use any of the prompts. ๐๐คจ๐ When I started out, prompts were a godsend and sent my imagination off in so many directions.

Thanks W_L. Glad you enjoyed it.

Anthology Flashback: Winter 2007 - Worth Fighting For
northie commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I reread this recently. Has my view changed? Nope. If anything, it reads even more as a commentary of our times. And I still haven't tried writing in the 2nd person... ๐คจ๐- 17 comments

Friendship's Like Music
northie commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in Friendship's Like Music
I think your experiment generally works well. You delight in making language work for you. Having said that, in the spirit of constructive criticism, I felt the second stanza was slightly less effective. The imagery is great - hollyhocks, bees, and (your) trumpet vine, but the demands of the rhyme scheme mean the language is twisted about. To my eye / ear, it lacks the flow of the other stanzas. Elsewhere, I'm puzzled how Frere Jacques can be a rhyme for unlock and mock. Am I missing something? On this side of the pond, Jacques is Jack-es. Maybe I'm being cloth-eared. ๐คจ๐ -
Another one I missed. ๐ณ Same here. I don't think I'll ever get the Alexa etc kind of system. Unless some change on my life forces me to. They do have their uses.

๐๐ฑ๐ Sorry I missed this. Thanks for the information... maybe. ๐ฌ
