    Blind Justice

Like you, I fear the siren song of an expensive, educated lawyer does make me wish for selective deafness. (Unless they're defending me, of course ... ) Thanks.

    Old and New

Hasn't he changed. In even the short time since he first met Andy, Eric's view of the world has altered for the better. We have a sense he has something to live for now. Thank you for all your comments and support.

    Blind Justice

Thanks, dear friend. There's no stopping it until the chant reaches the inevitable conclusion.

You were, Gary. I'm sorry ... I'm glad it grabbed you nevertheless.

    Blind Justice

Thanks, Val. It was made plain in YeahWrite's notes that the bourdon would make or break this form. The goal is to have the repeated line's meaning shift back and forwards depending on the rest of the verse.
  6. Happy Birthday, indeed! (and thanks for all your work.)

    Blind Justice

Accused, he stands, the dock, his place What need has he of sight? A wight brought low with crabbed old age What need has he of sight? The charge is false, his conscience clean What need has he of sight? His tale has truth, and right besides What need has he of sight? The lawyer's tongue shall do the deed What need has he of sight? His nose will scent the blight of fear What need has he of sight? Each juryman loves truth's bright sound What need has he of sight? He hates h
  8. Number 2 made me grin. It's always when you have to write something that your vocabulary melts away. Words do indeed hide in shrubs. 😛 3 I found a magical way of describing us writers, and yes, we do leave ourselves wide open, like the windows. Thank you for introducing me to this form.

    Age and Unborn

Once I'd gathered what Unborn was about, it made me smile. Words which fail to gel into anything useful, never mind creative? I know them well. Gary's comment about being 'creeped out 'at the start is entirely apt. Nobody who loves life will also love death. The Victorian black-ness that surrounds death and grief is finally fading away, I think. Not a moment too soon.

    Old and New

Yes, I think that's one of the things I love about him too. It makes him a joy to write, and a complete antithesis to most other gay characters. I'm very pleased you enjoyed the story, and I hope you will join us in January for the next part of his tale.

Thanks, Puppi. How many people do seize an opportunity when it presents itself?

    Picnic

Reading this again (probably with more care this time ), I'm fascinated by the undercurrents running through Twoey's group. Particularly from the narrator, Gary. His tensions give a little more bite to the proceedings. It's lovely to have another brief reunion with the A-Z characters.

    Old and New

@ColumbusGuy Thank you for your very kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Eric will indeed be back in the New Year. It will be a continuation of this tale. I expect the story to last for 3 volumes.

  18. Andy stopped for a moment to check his list. He looked at the small mound of foodstuffs piled on the kitchen table and then back at the list. Had he forgotten something? There was a niggle at the back of his mind which hinted at something being missed. For the life of him, he couldn't see what it was. Not unusual. He was frowning slightly in concentration when a familiar, welcome pair of arms wrapped themselves around his waist. Adam gave the base of Andy's neck a quick, affectionate nibble
  19. Your feelings about GA largely match mine. As for the other news, best of luck. I hope everything goes well.
  20. I'll blame you, shall I, when I have night terrors based on your poem? 😱 Don't read horror stories of a certain sort before going to bed, perhaps ... Did you get back to sleep ? Not sure I would've done.

Wonderful! I'm really glad you listened to your muse, Tim. A lovely follow-on to the original. More, please?

Yeeees ... Kind of. Only the gossip aspect of her is likely to put most people's backs up, including Eric's.
