Shooting For The Stars
scrubber6620 commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in Shooting For The Stars
Both main characters are being set up for a huge fall. Xpress is warning of drama and betrayal Jonathan say to Rusty he loves Maddox . He has grown closer to Rusty and better sees him as a crazy person who is a good friend to Maddox. They have a platonic relationship , but it may not seem so so from afar Maddox stands up to his parents. They are willing to see that Maddox is experimenting. He says no. His dad says he wants to meet Jonathan. So Maddox has to be pleased and want to take his love home next time. Nice try seeking to divert us with a supposed foot fetish for Jonathan--but he and Rusty have laid the seeds for a blow up with a returning Maddox by not telling him they were spending the holiday on campus together when he called. A Monday edition of Xpress will hit all three guys hard. Better come clean quick !- 57 comments

We have reasons to laugh lately--but it will be soon time for the next step in their relationship. There are probably many of us in and out of the corner getting into sexual overload earnestly waiting for your artistry portraying them passionately making love in the next chapter. No matter what else happens those two need to fulfill what must be their destiny even if then do not yet realize it in my opinion

Concerning Lord St Vincent's opinion of Granger which has been described as moved to "thoughtful." He might soon see a familiar situation regarding success and Granger that will raise his opinion again of Granger. I wonder if his opinion of Granger will be raised higher after he reads his reports and sees how Lord Daventry is receiving great acclaim for the Russia peace success and Granger's role is purposely forgotten. As opposed to Daventry , the reports will tell that Granger was at more serious risk of imprisonment and up to the coup d'etat of being killed by the former Czar . Also, Granger , not Daventry, spent a great deal of private time educating the new Czar to see that Napoleon, not George III, was his true enemy. He will note that the foreign office is asking Granger for meetings to discuss the Czar and Russia. His insights seem valuable to those ministers. It should remind Lord St Vincent of the time he asked Granger to forgo writing about his actions to split the French and Spanish ships before the big battle the admiral fought and won. Granger's silence would allow the captains of the ships of line ( and the admiral) to receive unalloyed praise for their victory. Granger agreed with the admiral to be silent for the good of the navy , the men in battle and government. He did not argue with the future Lord St Vincent and earned his gratitude and respect. He did not seek glory for his very valuable contribution and was inherently modest.

Stef and Will talked, Stef asked Will what he would do.... “I think that the Board should approve all the money awarded,” I said. “It seems to me that the Board is all focused on raising money, but in reality, what we spend it on is more important.” “That would seem to be a lot of work for Board members,” he said. “If there are thousands of grant applications, that is asking a lot for people to read through them.” I nodded. “I can see that as an issue. How would you solve that problem?” He gave me an odd look for asking that, and therefore pulling him into my scheme. “I would set a spending limit such that anything above it requires a Board authorization, and I would set up a rubric for evaluation of projects so Board members can easily evaluate them. And if it is felt that is too much work for the entire Board, I would set up a sub-committee to approve projects.” “I like your idea,” I said with a smile. He shook his head at me. “Will you help me write that up as a motion?” Will's ideas make sense and are in the mainstream of what large foundations do, But, family foundations with the donors on the board are usually even more hands on with an active grantmaking committee. That the foundation does not already have policies as a minimum similar to what Will has proposed is a very bad sign and the situation needs to be changed soon, in my opinion. Up to now the staff and president have a free hand on all grants totalling over hundreds of $millions and the board has no independent information.

Great fights--I thought the bad guys were going to win eventually. The good guys were outmatched. Then Bones stepped in and was marvelous. He unleashed his amazing powers and blew the bad guys away. To make things even better Bones repaired all the damage. He is a winner.

What a great wedding--Lots of pics were taken and they can give some good ideas for paintings. BTW-Colin and Armand did not seem hurt by jet lag.

kbois--You forget... they can't shift while any body parts are in contact. So yeah... could be painful! Yeah, that is why I said coitus interruptus--someone had to pull out and their bodies would not be in contact Boy, you have us thinking about them fucking and being attacked at night. Any attack could happen later. Tyler won't be protected when they are on the beach.

kbois said I've heard of shadow dancing, shadow boxing, but never shadow banging. Well, now we will if you include it in your next chapter--sounds like your fans could use the term BTW, if they are making love--I bet not just fucking but emotionally connecting--they might just shift as they are having an intense time or afterwards should they be attacked. They could better defend themselves shifting--But any coitus interruptus stopping them from enjoying each other would be so painful.

kbois said--Y'all are overthinking this. Well, I do read a lot of spy novels and see other possibly similar situations in the same light as I have read about them

Ok, if something bad is going to happen on the trip, the guys certainly advertised it to the local area. They hung their camping gear out to air out for two days which others could see. They drove to the site without looking for anyone following them and then left their car in the Bear Cove parking lot with their camp data on the dashboard. Anyone arriving after them--even if following far away--could find them easily. Conventional spy gear can listen to people by concentrating on window vibrations and by listening through turned off computer microphones and phones. So their trip plans could have been discovered. The bad guys would most likely wait far enough away and move in when they think Elijah and Kage are not attentive since no one has been seen so far and now they are going to be otherwise occupied and not focusing on anyone approaching. Under cover of darkness late evening or early morning would be optimal for an attack and it is late at night on the beach after some hours of swimming.

I like drsawzall's idea that the laptop is in the RV of Elijah's parents. The vehicle has not been mentioned before--Only the 55 chevy is really been made an offsite hiding possibility. The boys did not look for the RV or search it. It could be stored someplace in town in a vehicle storage area and it is common to use this method for safety and for convenience. When will they realize it should be searched. Are they going to have --"I could have had a V8"== head smacking insight soon on the camping trip?

Beautiful, hopeful, enchanting ending--thank you Kage needed to stake his claim. He wants to be inside Elijah and Elijah agrees. Next time we will see if they fulfill their desires and are not interrupted. They danced around each other on the trip and finally Kage could not hold back . He had to ask Elijah Earlier on the trip Elijah said the following which cleared the air and seemed to say they could have sex with no attachments-- “It’s fine, Kage. You made yourself perfectly clear that you weren’t looking for any kind of commitment. Neither am I, so why don’t we just take things as they come? We’re both adults, and can do adult things whenever we decide. No strings attached, okay?” Up to the end of the second day the trip was so wonderful and felt so real in parts--a great hike with panoramic views, cool weather, easy comradeship and laughter and then a magical swim in the water.

It looks like Vanus is in for a big surprise. He may not have to use his wits and interesting talents to survive on the streets. Why was he kept in a cold orphanage if he had a wealthy relative? Will he later be able to help his good friend Jill? The story has lots of promise. Thank you.

Captain Granger did not ask LT Douglas and LT Callahan if his order to Captain Pitcarin to send marines ashore to maintain order among the men on leave ashore. He had focused on the lack of shore leave for the marines. I hope he will ask both officers about the marine shore security force when he returns to his ship. He could ask how many marines were sent ashore earlier to maintain order. If marines were not sent to maintain order, he should have LT Callahan to implement his order immediately. Both officers should add this matter to their written reports. He will know now if Captain Pitcarin has failed a second time to carry out his orders if marines had not been sent ashore to maintain order among men from the ship.

$60,000 for a painting/poster. Impressive Armand does have to reprice his paintings. He is now interested in painting people with animals. He can do a lot with this intention. Now , though the boys are off to visit friends in Italy and attend a wedding. They are good and constant friends with those they met on their European trip.

In large foundations foundation presidents are often board members, A family member can be a foundation president so a spouse could be one ,too. The foundation president could not vote on his or her salary. I expect Brad would also not vote on Jake's salary to avoid a conflict of interest. The foundation I worked for to avoid any conflict of interest required that the staff or board member not hold a board position or accept any honors from a potential grantee. We also paid for the meal with applicants and grantees --the foundation had more money normally. I am not confident Jake would be a good foundation president. He is a man of action. He might not like sitting in an office, going through meetings, reading lots and lots of paperwork, etc. A foundation president and program officer have to evaluate requests and then help others achieve their dreams and not control them or in a bad case twist them into doing what the funding staffer thinks. Of course, the foundation can set up projects on its own but then fund others to carry them out at separate non-profits. Jake, as a lawyer, might be the key person to take charge of a major legal initiative requiring serious investigations somewhat like the one Will began funding which concept could be expanded. Hmm--a new Perry Mason for gay rights ? Such an initiative could well attract other funders in California.

Granger was depressed on Admiral Nelson's flagship. He was fixed on his Russian experience and Lord St Vincent's rebuke. Command of the Calliope and better news from home has continued to reinvigorate Granger. He relishes command and he is good at it. Matteus and Fitzgerald are bright spots to him. He now knows he has a formerly not reported problem with his officers, and he will start strongly to correct those matters that are wrong. He wants to help Douglas know his proper role which is a good way to proceed. The marine captain might well face charges up to gross insubordination and a later court martial unless he offers extenuating circumstances. He mistakenly thinks and says to others they are "his" marines not under the full authority of the captain contrary to the Articles of War. How will he react when Granger confronts him for not following orders? What will Granger do with him? I can see as a minimum the Marine LT take over command of the marines and the captain sidelined and confined. With Grangers powerful hand I expect the right steps will be taken and the ship will be better prepared for sea duty and fighting any enemy.

Chapter 24: Ardent Arrest
scrubber6620 commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 24: Ardent Arrest
Thank you for a nice chapter with no pain for the good guys and simple, easy outcomes ending matters with no loose ends. Alpha Vonder and Mr Tillman confronted Harold and laid down and enforced the law. Harold and Rochter were announced guilty and are going to jail without parole. Lawyers and a courtroom were not needed A cancer in the pack has been excised. Later Cyrus called a pack meeting and reported on the crimes of Harold and Rochter. He thanked Wagner publicly for his undercover work and made him his head enforcer, Cyrus trusts Wagner and he told him that. Wagner is very important to Alpha Vonder and his leadership of the pack. As a nice touch, Vincent and Mason showed up at the pack meeting to support Wagner and hear of his great work. Vincent is on the road to changing his opinion of Wagner. NY Pack problems are solved for now. We should be satisfied. But please do not hold it against us to now want to see what is happening with your other key characters in Owensville-the three alphas, the police officers, the vampire. -
Awesome chapter, Mark. No real drama remained, and things are likely going to be resolved. It ended thankfully with feel good moments and without a cliffhanger. Jake is going to find a way to investigate the foundation by himself or someone else and get close to the staff to find out about morale. Is the office environment toxic? I think Jake can get the evidence to prove or disprove the allegation Will kept on being smart and mature and better at reading and helping people. He helped Jake better understand his dad, He forgave and hugged his dad who hugged him back. Will worked out a fun, compatible sexual relationship with Tony and will enable him to use fun places here when Mason comes to campus John is going to join his band. His parents have agreed. The ending Escorial dinner was full of love and forgiveness and happiness. This is one to treasure and remember You have been very productive and published two interesting, substantial chapters this Sunday. Thank you, Mark.

Granger went through highs and lows and is going to have to correct a sorry relationship between his officer that he only just understood. The letters from Lord Spencer and Lord Cavendish confirmed that Lord St Vincent has been very upset with him but has changed his position to be "thoughtful" after Lord Spencer met with him. Granger's past officers have been given good assignments after it seems Lord St Vincent relented. Granger is still uncertain if and when he might be given a command. At least he is looking forward to be at home with his family and Cavendish who is now working with the foreign office. It seems the acclaim for the Russian success will be given to Lord Daventry as a foreign office victory. If Granger was connected it might seem to be a military operation towards the Czar. He was very happy to see Mateus easily fit in and be liked on the ship. He was proud to be assigned to Granger's staff. He was made aware of his true father and that Granger will write to him and ask for his approval to this arrangement. But now he is very troubled. For at least the second time Douglas has not assumed a senior role over the officers. The Marine Captain violated Granger's orders about shore leave for the marines He committed a gross insubordination. He did not worry about following Granger's orders . BTW, the marine captain went ashore so Granger could not confront him. Granger corrected the shore leave fault and took marines ashore for leave with him. He ordered that the marine captain be confined when he returns --possibly inebriated-and will later be interviewed by Granger after he has studied the written reports by other officers on the matter. Talking to Fiztgerald who he met on shore, he finally learned that Douglas is now unable to lead since he has been compromised by his past positions as a comrade against the former first Lt. “It seems I have been remiss in helping him adapt to that role,” Granger concluded. Fitzgerald said nothing, a clear validation of Granger’s statement, and that pierced Granger to the core. The fault here was mostly his, for not grooming Douglas as he should have." Granger is going to have to train and groom Douglas quickly and let his officers know his position on appropriate command relationships. He can start by strongly punishing the marine captain. The Calliope will leave in two days. Granger quickly has to take serious action and correct any misunderstandings and set Douglas and others on the right path so they are better prepared to face any enemy The one bright spot among the officers is that Fiztgerald did not find anything interesting in the house of ill repute and will now go to the sauna the next day with Granger. Thanks, Mark, for a solid and compelling chapter that moved along easily and wonderfully addressed important personal and naval matters. Granger is pictured as a concerned and thoughtful leader who trusted a bit too much that people will share his high standards and has been forced to step in. He can't rest on his laurels. He now knows the dimension of the problems with his officers. I am certain he will act decisively. The naval articles are on his side.

Chapter 22 - I Wish I Could Forget
scrubber6620 commented on Salander's story chapter in Chapter 22 - I Wish I Could Forget
The good , the bad and in the future the ugly. The good---Sex between Jake and Nic was wonderful. Nic was taken to a new place and found he wanted Jake and forgot his pain and coping mechanisms to keep detached. Jake was in heaven. They are so good together., "However, judging by the way Jake was defiantly staring back at him, he wasn’t going to take it back. Another part of Nic felt a strange urge to swoon like a damsel in a bad romance novel. But most overwhelmingly, he wanted to –" Then the bad--Nic had a full on panic attack and blurted out he was raped two years ago--by Amos? He could not take his words back. Through it all Jake was concerned and listened and kept his distance from Nic. He told Nic he knew about panic attacks since his sister had them. Nic will later realize, I hope, that Jake will not judge him and is very concerned about him. They need to talk more much later. Hopefully, Jake can introduce that his sister knew Amos was on drugs with another female partner. He can return the favor with Meg by giving Nic ammo on Amos. The upcoming ugly--Jake is asked to come to the office smelling like sweat and sex and will be asked about the posted pics of Meg. Let's hope he stays calm and has safe answers and is not found to be at fault. Nice, cliffhanger BTW -
and it will be 101in Sacramento today--thank god for air conditioning--and great stories to read by kbois

Collin had a great idea which was to find out what area rentals charged. Their apartments should make a return and be profitable. They should have a budget and plan that is based on what they need to keep the business going--unless they want to make it a charity like a college is. Colleges may subsidize dorm costs to attract students who are not well off. The dorm fees may not be a good guide for price setting. Armand is continuing to develop his artistic style. GG wants him to use his imagination. He is struggling, but surely will get there
-
I agree kbois---"The cliff seems a lot more ominous now. " Tyler could be most vulnerable since the other two can shift to avoid--bullets, dynamite, poison gas, etc.t But, if Tyler is threatened Kage and Tyler will likely risk themselves to save him.
