Oh wow, Mark--drama lies ahead--Well, we are notified and can expect something bad perhaps on land or from what Granger's mail indicates or from the sea. Granger has his ship prepared for sea battles and at least he has that threat covered. As for other troubles, who knows and it would be foolhardy to guess specifcs. Mark will surprise us with a well thought out situation. I am looking forward even more to the next chapter.

What a rollercoaster of emotions, GHeorge and Karl connected rommantically and sexually and then George began to have doubts and ovrer thought his relationship to Karl He asked his to stay and not go back where he thought he would be killed flying a plane. Karl said he was obligated to go back and he needeed to protect his family in Denmark. George rejected his reasons and said if he left they were over. Karl knew he had to go back. He left with Arthur who seemed more sensitive to his plight. Mrs Hopkins came out and let heknow she cared about him, “You are a very courageous boy.” Her voice was solemn, and that was so unlike her. He could only stare back at her in silence. “Come back to us.” He promised her he would. I can see he will have the fierce determination even more now to survive. This attitude might save him. Nevertheles, this was a serious emotional situation that touched all at the home that welcomed him. Karl has grown in his understanding.

George is in his element in command of a frigate and very pleased. He is no longer fixing on Russa and Alexander,. He had the time to test his ship and direct his men to improve their gun drill whch was horrible. He really enjoyed seeing how the ship perfomed with different sail configurations. It seems that Calliope is a fast ship, He won over his recalcitrant master and impressed his officers and men with his handling of the ship. Granger seems more adept and skilled than the previous captain and the men saw it in his actions Because of past goodwill , Granger was able to enter Visby with the mayor's blessing and is alllowed to stay three days for shore leave and store resupply.He is letting his crew in good standing go ashore as he did with the Valiant. He told the purser he would reimburse him for any stores bought for his table and put his mind at ease.The Callope officers and men were surprised at his offer of shore leave.. He took steps to make sure no one deserted and that was something not before considered by his officers. When Winkler told his the men had not been paid and had litte money, Granger and Daventry kicked in some money so the men could enjoy their shore leave. Also as with other ships he had some marines sent ashore to be shore patrol and that was new to his Marine commander but who later saw it as a wise step. Granger and Daventry and Fitzgerald and a midshipman are going ashore to have a meal with the mayor. Fitzgerald kept showing he worshipped Granger. They may connect sexually again, Granger's last and well regarded bed partner in Visby has left for the capital . The Mayor promised Granger mail which has been piling up. I wonder what news Granger will find. St Helen's oral news from home was disquieting. Maybe Caroline will tell him she found places for any dependents forced to leave since they were Catholic and she can read him in better as to what is happening with his older brother. The Crown Prince seems to be kept in the dark more than he appreciates. Communication needs to be significantly improved and people need to want to be more open. The technology is avaliable so the Crown Prince and top leadrship should be operating with the same frame of reference. The Crown Prince will have many issues to face soon after the wedding. A lot more citizens are being sent to Mars from the home world. There has to be many logistical challenges . Will the new residents be peaceful or easily upset as things do not go as planed? The moves will not be simple or easy. Informing earth leaders of a slowdown in contruction has to be handled delicately,

So, I hope in the next chapter we learn what the title, Shadow Effect, means. It could be something good or evil? Is Kage the full shadow effect or just one representative of it?

The pain of viewing or even imaging a bloody death scene of people you care about deeply or posibly know well does not go away in the short term The grief lingers especially when the deaths were wrong or not expected. You are reminded of it often and then when others bring it up even trying to be solicitious, you can be reminded of how they died and again be hurt deeply. You can tear up and maybe cry. As an only son, Elijah will be especially wounded and may need counselling and time to heal without distractions or work, etc. I expect to close out his pain, Elijah will need to find out that the killer or killers are found and punished. I expect the police can suggest a service or business to clean up and restore his house. Elijah may want to sell it and find another place to live with no bad memories.

If this becomes a more serious matter with Elijah threatened, I conjecture that some of his friends from Montana will show up to protect and help him through the conflict and mess. Eijah will not want any spillover hurt Tyler or his second family.

You feel for Elijah. He has just lost his parents and went through the torment of examining the death scene in his home and seeing it trashed everywhere, He had cried and cried. Nothing made sense. His parents were harmless, He could not think of a motive to kill them. At least they died in their bed quickly. But now he is held back by a huge scary but attractive force and hot man named Kage--another apparent supernatural and an unknown. Is Kage a killer or a friend or an investigator? Elijah had turned into a cat before he changed back naked. Kage has evidence he is a shapeshifter. They need to talk. Should Elijah be worried the killers or killer will want to murder him ? Can Kage tell him why his parents were killed? Is this revenge for Elijah's help in Montana?

BTW, I would suggest Will has three areas to analyze with the foundation: the payout rate of 5%, the objectives of the foundation against the grants made and the internal workings of the foundation( is there a toxic environment). As a new board member he can ask for clarity and a better understanding so he can carry out his fiduciary duties and no one should object. Board members should be presented with and set broad objectives for grantmaking, investment results and the president and CFO and he should want to know what they are and why certain objectives have been set. The foundation president should be measured against the objectives of the foundation and his established standards.The CFO will have his own objectives mostly related to investment performance and ethical standards .Will can ask about the performance standards and results for the CFO and president.( The president should be seting objectives for the administrative and grantmaking staff). California non-profits are required by law have to have widely publicized internally whistle blower provisions with a phone number or address not connected to the line non-profit leadership and monitored by the CFO who reports separately to a board member or board committee. Will can ask about this provision and any complaints made. Will can also ask for serious consequential matters to be studied by inside and outside experts have have them present evaluations to the board at future meeting. It is not uncommon when a change in leadership occurs for a foundation board to ask for an evaluation of its grantmaking and staff practices. I have worked at foundations who conducted 5 year surveys of staff and both grantees and those who had been declined support. It has to be done by an outside agency to maintain confidentiality and let respondents know they can speak their mind without being punished or need to suck up.

Alec and Finn are fitting in very well in Finn's home. They want more of each other and are respecting each other and enjoying each other's body. Alec already misses Finn when he has left for his work at the gym. They are going to be good for each other. Reality sets in when Alec finds he has several calls from his dad. Will has heard one side of the story from a biased and disgruntled applicant with some inside information. Taking aside the anti-class bias, the foundation has some internal problems if matters are brought to the board and allegedly are rejected because they are not thought through and not realistic. Either someone if incompetent or is not telling the truth. Is or was their a staff conflict? Will should be very professional and ask basic questions with assumptions of what is proper and not accept plattitudes and not give up till he has answers. On a family foundation board blood wins over staff and a staff president should know better than to try to bullshit Will or disagree with him. His granfdfathers will agree with him. Will may need to study the foundation after a board meeting and might ask his grandfathers for their approval to conduct an internal investigation and might need legal help from the law firm advising the foundation.. The matters might be so serous as to need more time to resolve. He can report back to them. BTW, the response Mike got concerning his request was typical foundation speak. They really don't want to say why and get into a debate. Say, the group might have been new with no track record or respected leaders who could assure legal matters were going to be handled in the best ways. However, if the foundation has given away all its required minimum distribution or 5% then the foundation should have told him upfront or given him a hint it was approaching its limit. This was bad PR and insensitive. Will can be critical or this and get the foundation to be more forethcoming and helpful to turned down applicants. Mores staff could be added as advisers. Well, some assumptions about the party from last chapter's comments need to be reviewed. Bongo was not made a drummer in John's band. Will did not bed Mike easily. Will and Mike got along but took things slowly as Mike wanted. Will was OK with this and made Mike feel very comfortable. Will is on a mission to findout what is really happening at the foundation. He is not going to be satisfied easily.

About Thanksgiving--- Won't Maddox and Jay want to get together for a nice home cooked meal and hot sex before the holiday break when they might be apart or a week or more? If the rumor goes around campus that Jonathan turned Maddox gay, won't it reach Jonathan's parents through students returning home for the Thanksgiving break. It will be too juicy to keep hidden and not spread around. Jonathan, it seems, did to Maddox what he did to Drew as the locals think. Can Maddox do anything to counter his fipped gay theme? Will it be convincing to save Jonathan and in time for Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is on people's minds. Roy invited Jonathan home and Maddox invited Rusty home. They did not accept but seemed touched. Maddox is taking care of Rusty and only a best friend can. He is helping get ready and study. Jonathan has turned him on to the male body and Maddox has to be careful with other guys The ending is very disquieting and portends a mess for Jonathan. Connor catches him and brings him into his circle of odd friends who ask very personal sexual questions. The line of questioning that is very troubling is the one that asks if he flipped a straight Maddox to be gay. They assumed Maddox had to be too weak to withstand Jonathan. Then it was suggested this might not be the first time--My , my did someone know Jonathan's history and about about Drew's charges? If so, Jonathan will soon feel like he is reliving his time hell with him being the seducer and devil incarnate.

So he is expected at some point to be deomoted from Crown Prince to Regent if the Emperor's new wife births a healthy child . He is moving to Mars with his family and eventually will be Chancellor when there is a new Emperor. He takes it all in stride. So much change can be stressful. The new quarters on ars seem very generous and well done. This transition is also giving him a break from Earth matters.

The club opened and found its normal path with customers. It looks like it will be a finacial success. The food from Europe was a hit. Marylou eventually showed up and so far has not been a problem after talking with her mom and Colin, The unveiling of the mural of covering the special sites of their honeymoon was a great acclaim--artisically and personallly Their families loved it and Colon was mesmerized and so happy. "Life resumed, except if I couldn’t always find Colon ( sic}, he was either on the roof or siting in front of the mural. I had surrounded our life with our experiences on our tour of Europe. A honeymoon that we relived every day."

So disorienting--This class was out of bounds-They did not know wht was happening--They were terrorized and tested and this is just the beginning, At the least, the class shows they have lots to learn. It ended firmly with a strange smelly bag from a strange being giving them without any clues. What will Zoel do? I hope things make better sense in the next chapter. These characters are very interesting. You want to know more about them.

Should not they get more romantic and open to express themselves. Alec could be celebrating in the next chapter--They are cuddling--so- I hope he wakes up and gives Finn a great blow job.

So many uterly charming events that make you want to smile--thank you ! The wedding was a blast after Jay made sure they dodged a bullet from Loe's parents, The Grease themed wedding was delightful and fun and so unique, It was so Loren and Jay played along well, Loved the honeymoon and 4 days in a sex dungeon by their bedroom. Jay loved it all. He is so in love with Loe and trusts him that he cannot say no to him.The first time they made love arriving in their bedrrom was so charming and realistic. Time passes and they are running their 3rd cousins camp and everyone loves it. They seem so fulfilled being uncles and the young kids love them. Loren has grown to love Jay even more and wants to spend the rest of his life with him. No fear of commitment. Loren's surprise bithday gift stuns Jay. Dreams are coming true. Is this happily ever after? I guess we will find out in any follow on chapter. I hope the arrival of a baby does not quiet their sex life.

That went well--Alec is pleased laying in bed wearing Finn's shirt and his boxers being cuddled by Finn. Alec started the process sending a soft core picure of him made by River.
