A few even drop off and do not finish their story after several chapters We are given time to think and dream about the characters and next steps. In a few day we see what actually transpires. A cliffhanger or red herring or macguffin ( a plot device that is a shinny object but really is an intended dead end --from use by Alfred Hitchcock) could be resolved in a few chapters I am half a mind thinking that the laptop is a macguffin

OK, Kage and Elijah have been on an almost honeymoon with sexual tension/relief ever present and a feeling of grateful connectiveness. After seeing Elijah, he should be going to San Francisco to study Kasar and find a way to kill him. It will be highly perilous. Vanus met the high priestess of the Imperium and passed her test. She accepts he is not just a true Kaufman , but the shortly will be head of one of the major and wealthiest families in the Imperium, He will have it all and more power in two days. It should be quite heady. Others might well contest his new role. Will others accept an outsider as head of the family. Will his life be threatened and attempts be made to kill him to stop him from becoming or continuing as head of the family. Will he find wise , non-manipulative advisers to educate him on his role? Will he be just a figurehead or can he grow in his role? He will live a thousand year unless something prevents him from living. I think Van's past teachings and practices at the orphanage will help him out. He will be wary and wants to learn. He is careful when dealing with others. Going back to the orphanage will be a shock. He will not be liked. Maybe he can find out why he was kept from the Imperium and his heritage. Did another member of the Kaufman family try to hide him? Two final points: Was there another and hidden reason Van had to apply his blood to his angel's statute ?His family is descended from the angel Azazel, the angel of sacrifice. Also, I liked the Imps. They reminded me of bad tempered Harry Potter house elves. Van is going into a whirlwind and dangerous waters. He will be tested over and over.

Nice shock at the end-hmmm Ave took Clint to meet Jace and they all got along, Ave was worried needlessly. Clint was accepted and liked. Yes, Fall Creek became wider through the county and fed into the White River which fed into the Wabash River and then the Ohio River. Fall Creek was not deep. What important contrasts reaffirming and showing the vital importance of family. Vincent met Mason's extended family and really got along with them. As noted, it is Will's Gap Year. I am enjoying the present West Coast focus on his growth and challenges of many of his family that connects to him now. It has not been boring , There has been a great deal to write about that is important and very interesting. The author has to pick and choose what he thinks matters to his voice and plan for the story. I have seen in the comments that different characters have attracted different sponsors. The story is that good and the compelling possibilities for development are many, I can see JJ and Wade and Matt brought back into the plot when Will returns to East Coast in advance of his 4 year program. The three also might be regular prominent characters if Mark choses to write about Will's Harvard years or pursues another focus. Perhaps , also during this time period JJ could come back easily if he had critical issues at his school or in his personal life, The family would reach out to help him. We all know the choice of direction and emphasis belong to Mark . I bet he listens to the encouragement of his supporters, too.

Will understands Jake and they both appreciate each other. Maybe, Will's example of working with Jake on the foundation project will set a teaching example for Brad on how to relate to Jake on a project. In fact, Jake might get an idea on what he wants to do from his investigation of the foundation, The possibilities are endless. Jake could do similar investigations for other boards of non-profits and regular companies. He could come up with a project for a foundation to fund. The point is that Jake could design his own future. As of now Brad has not told him of his idea for Jake so Jake is free to consider options.

What an upbeat, interesting evolution of the relationships of Will, Jake and Brad. Will took the lead and provided the independent adult like advice. Brad sought to be honest and reestablish a good relationship with Will. They are getting to a better point. Brad is coming up with a project for Jake to help investigate potential investment opportunities for his business. Will and Brad clashed over this when Will said he needed to bring Jake into the process early and not just dump the defined project on him. Will said it would upset Jake. Brad argued with Will about bringing Jake into the process from the start. But, he thought about it and realized he needed to accept Will's advice. BTW, Stef said to Will later that he did not know this help from Jake was needed Other matters are turning out positive. The band played at Escorial and was well received. John's career shift now seems reasonable. Will called Zach to see if he wanted to hang out. He left a voice mail. He agonized over it since he missed Zach. He left the situation up to Zach and will not be pushy. They might meet at a party Will is attending, too. If they meet separately or not will be a defining point for their continued connection. Mark you showed the people being true to themselves but trying to better understand and work with each other. This was a constructive chapter. Problems remain but that is the way life seems to be.

I can see if the few previous attackers failed and were stopped by Kage, then any next attack could be undertaken by many more bad guys. Was the nun and her order trying to get his money either by deceiving him or killing him before he left and showing a false will later that gives his money to the orphanage? Or, was he safely hidden in the orphanage so he could not be targeted by others who want his resources and abilities? Two different societies or social groups seem to be separate and antagonistic. The orphanage is run by the Theocracy and Vanus is rightfully connected to the Imperium, His late uncle was a member and great magician. In three days he will find out all about his inheritance, He should be very wealthy Vanus is gay and not a virgin. He has unsatisfying sex with a distant associate who seems to want it, Vanus prefers an experiences lover with power and rough hands. This night's sex partner had not picked on Vanus as a child but did not defend him. Kids thought his strange eyes made him look like a demon We learn on his way back Vanus is almost killed but is able to become invisible and lose his corporeal body, He knows what to do to really hide. What a crazy situation. It makes no sense to bomb Copenhagen civilian targets.
