I reread Bridgemont series twice already, and they are great. it's very interesting to see the northern countries here, I actually watched HBO mini series about Catherine the great, mother of czar Paul a couple of days ago, and thought about your story (although the story there is passed a couple of years before yours). I am also curious about the non nautical parts when they return to London, I love the political games too, and want to see how Cavendish is doing in Granger household, I wonder if Granger will clash directly with his much older acquaintance, the Duke of Portland.

I can't say liked all the parts in the story, but I do love dkdtories writing. He is a amazing writing, and the political maneuvering is always enjoyable to read. I wish he had continued to write here.

Yeah, Harry's view on muggles were a bit disappointing even if he thinks fewer students per teacher were better. He forgot the opposite to reduce the number of students and discriminate in function of power, is having more teachers. Why can't it be more than one teacher per course, or one teacher with teaching assistants?

I have been following the story, but I'm terrible with commenting, so my comment will be long and probably related to previous chapters as well. And although I truly love Gary's writing, what finally drove me to comment was that I really disliked Trey and Carlos being there. I am a romantic, so part of me wants Hanks and Chase to get together. But I am sorry to say that I think Hanks need to suffer more first. And I hate he forgave his "friends". One thing that we don't really feel very strongly, but Gary's alludes from time to time is the timeline... Weeks passing here, months there... So a long time has passed. So Hank really needs to understand what he did to Chase and I wish Chase had explained it to him better when they fought. Yes he was hurt and Chase did a mistake, but by not even talking with him, and telling only his version to their friends (because unless he is dumb he should know how gossip spreads in s friend's group) he totally isolated Chase, who in his dark moments was completely alone. And then deciding to moving on (which I understand and agree he should have tried) with someone from their friend group (doing common friends is like doing your friends exs, a giant no). And those "friends" didn't even call, for months... I am not saying getting together and being all happy, but that we know no one apart from Stacy even called to see how Chase was doing... For months and months. It might be an exaggeration, but if Chase had been in mind to hurt himself, he could be dead by now and everyone would cry their "crocodile" tears without ever caring for him when he has alive. Dawson wasn't Chase best friend, he was is only friend at this point. I imagine some would say that growing up and moving on is forgiving and leave hate, but I believe it is also realizing who is worthy and your true friends. And all those fail. The only thing Ray and Frank, the checked out couple that didn't want to "chose sides", Carlos, the self righteous ass with problems, or Trey, the spineless little man with zero personality or free will to check on his friend, deserve is a monumental fuck you as much drop from Chase. PS: and I didn't even talked about "friend" Kevin giving a whole new meaning to helping hand.

It is also a very interesting conundrum. The Emperor assumed a tyrannical position, even with his own brother, and abused the his brother's devotion (since I believe Kastan and Kyra are the only ones that could have stand up to Kyan and told him NO. Due to their mystical connection, explained in Kyan tattoo, their can't be hurt or separated without killing the Empire, so I Kastan ever rebeled and said NO to Kyan, there was not much he could do without risking the Empire's ruin). However Jihan understands now that Rushi is dangerous too, do he can't weaken Kyan if that leaves a powerful and uncontrolled Rushi. Destroying or weakening Rushi publicly would humble and humiliated the Emperor, without hurting the rest of the siblings much (the Sage Queen and the Protector Duke). Even Kastan should be put in his place for playing with Johan's life, but you can't win all, and Kyan is a better Target for Jihan ire.

Am I a terrible person if I want to see the Emperor on his knees to Jihan? The Empire and the Miran family seems to have forgotten the between reigning for their people, and tyrannically ruling them. He threatened Jihan, and the life of his sister. Jihan has a merchant mind, he said that a transaction had to benefit him as welyan had the opportunity to at least ask what he wanted, maybe appease him and start a good relationship. He chose to immediately threaten Jihan. If I was Jihan, I would silently use all my power to weaken Kyan, maybe by exposing the treacherous Queen.

This time I'm not sure it's the witch that is not very friendly. It's normal that they are suspicious, but he was less friendly than Tera.

Also, is the lie that Swallow is dead, or that Kastan pretend not to know what happened. What happened to Jihan, did he faint, or was attacked? And curious to know who will find Firuz.

Kastan is an idiot, and deserve to be treated that way. He could have ended the pain, but chose to continue with it. I hope Jian that until he apologizes, Jihan keeps facing him. Maybe tell him that he will marry him like the edict says, but will never bed him or use Kamran connections for him. I know it's probably not their society, but after the wedding when they are already protected, that Jihan publicly denounces the Miran family as ditators that force people for power, maybe in from of the Empire Elders. What would the old Emperor Kaveh think of his sons now? That would embarrass the Emperor, and he totally deserves it. Plus we should publicly reject is father as well, Lord Duyi would see himself without the merchant power, since Jian controls it, lower in aristocrat rank to his son.

Yes, I agree with Philippe comments. If Grant just calmly talk with Troy, I think Troy will get more emotional than annoyed. He seems to be a grounded and reasonable guy, he might even regret having burned the diary now that he is in a better place. And I can imagine Mother coming uninvited for a visit a being put in her place either by a protective Troy, or by their friends.

That's why I keep suspecting of an internal betrayal, particularly from the father. getting the daughter married, with possibly of children, my look better to their father.
