    There are some who carry machine pistol style weapons in certain places for security reasons, but the normal policeman is still unarmed. If weapons are deemed necessary then 'armed response units' are called for. Somewhat like your SWAT squads, but kindergarten style. 🙂

    I did hear noises the other night and I was the only person in the house. What I hadn't allowed for when I got out of bed and came downstairs, was that my cat had followed me into the downstairs toilet and I'd shut her in when exiting. She was banging on the door - and extremely pleased to see me when I opened it.🙂 But, back to the story, where a small mystery is indeed beginning to appear.

    Back then, even in a gay friendly town, I believe they would have had no chance of being allowed to adopt or even foster. They could well find a boy of 16/17 sleeping on the beach in the summer and would quite possibly be tempted to repay the debt they owe George.

    'Endured' would be the appropriate verb. The resorts with sandy beaches such as Blackpool, Margate, Bournemouth and many others were the popular ones. And Brighton's pebbles were large - real toe bashers. Official beach photographers had their own territory, but it is quite feasible there were amateurs doing the rounds looking for interesting subjects 🙂

    As far as I can be sure, there was only one name that had any meaning to me . That was George's surname of Martin as a person of that name did run a hotel in Cliftonville where stayed a few times when I was a lad. But his name wasn't George and he didn't have anything to do with the putting greens or any other council work! The rest is pure coincidence, especially as I know nothing about Coldplay. 🙂

    In Full Bloom It was light when Chris woke, but that was hardly surprising as he was virtually always awake early and at this point in May the sun rose just before 5am. He moved his head slightly so he could see the clock on the bedside table; it showed the time was just after 7am. On a weekday the alarm would have gone off before 6am, but today was a Saturday so there was no need for a rude awakening.
