We have a love/hate relationship with eBooks. We've very recently, as part of the new year cleaning up, removed eBooks from the site. They were getting little traffic and the software for handling them was less than ideal. There is a possibility of us getting back into it in the future. But we are currently resource constrained (time/staff). We are an official publisher complete with our own set of ISBN numbers we can issue. To be successful in eBooks you have to go all in and still, you're competing with either Amazon (Gay Authors isn't even a spec of dust in comparison) or as an author, you are competing against other eBook authors.

If you browse to the stories page and use the filter, you can see what stories you follow: If it doesn't filter, simply hit the - and do it again. It sometimes gets confused.

Yes, I know this feeling all too well. I get it almost every day when I get home from work and there are emails sitting there and tasks to do on the site. I've got a novel or two in my head waiting for that moment when I have both the time and the energy to actually write it down. I was on a YouTube loop last night. Then I broke the loop and started going through the "Everything Wrong With..." series on various movies. That ate the whole night. But I was pretty energized this morning and knocked a lot of things off my list. Including finally getting that email to all our authors written.

As mentioned in previous announcements, we are undergoing clean up and consolidation. As part of this, some of the temporary links that were on the forums have been removed and placed in the newly streamlined "Help" menu. There are many many Lego Games. I think 3 this year? Lego Harry Potter Collection, Lego DC Super-Villians and Lego The Incredibles... I think I own them all. While I've not completed the ones from the last couple years, I have completed all the previous ones. They seem to fall in just the right spot of funny and easy to play. I enjoy them as kind of a mindless way to unwind. Do any of you play them?

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Over the next few weeks, we will be doing a number of things around the site to simplify and streamline things. We have a very large sprawl of forums at this point that are semi-active or less. We are working on consolidating those so that only what we need is around. The Announcement forum is the first thing that is highly visible that is getting removed. We will post Announcements in the most appropriate blog going forward. When we do so, we'll use the Announcement function to display it across the site. We are looking to spend 2019 focusing on Gay Authors core purpose: Great Stories and Great Community. I, personally, have rediscovered my joy in writing. It has been buried for a long time in the focus on running the site. I am planning on being very active in the Anthologies this year and I encourage others to do the same! We will be making more use of the built in email system to contact specific groups about items of interest. (For example, we'll email authors reminding them about Anthologies and how they are open to everyone and when the due dates are for submission). I think so long as it does not start with anything like that (which the system should actually reject) it works fine. The bug was that none of that is allowed in the friendly link system. Ie, the link to the actual story. So this: "This? No! That! That? No! This#" turns into this in the link: story/myr/this-no-that-that-no-this/ The previous bug wasn't properly stripping the odd characters and therefore the stories couldn't be found. So, that example worked on the test server. In theory it should also work on GA. No promises as most that stuff certainly should not be used in a title. I can see a "!" or "?" maybe an "&". But all of those are also programming symbols and one never knows when a hairball will be coughed up.

That's the intention, but it doesn't always do that...

There are a lot of goofy restrictions with the built-in software, which is where the notifications come from. (from a technical standpoint, notifications are triggered by a container. It's not designed to give you the container's container.) Trying to get them to be more useful has been on the list for some time.
