  1. Would love to get your feedback on my story, Aeris - Guardian force. It's my first one for GA!
  2. Finding love in the middle of an Interstellar war is something Aeris under the cover identity of Joshua Rintel is finding hard to do. A SciFi, Military, Romance, which blends Cybertech, Human Augmentations, Aliens, and Magic. When Aeris is assigned to the Prometheus by the Fleet Admiral, his mission was to protect the new tech that was developed. However, that mission changes when an old Comrade from his past shows up, and dark secrets start to come forward.

    Can I Forgive?

I had an estranged relationship with my dad, from years of family drama. When he was in Hospice, & dying from Cancer, all that went away. What I wouldn't give for another day with him. Hugs to you, & Positive thoughts.
  4. Chapter 1 By the year 2075, great strides in Technology, Astrophysics, Medicine, and Cybernetics pushed humanity into a new age of human exploration. A single world government underneath the United Nations formed, but it was doomed from the beginning. Old hatreds, deep-seated prejudices, and corruption ran amok in the UN’s attempt at governance. When it fell, the former member states formed new Geological, Political, or Trade nations, combining the resources of the old smaller countries into
  5. Joshua Rintel, Codename Aeris, looked around the battlefield with a cautious eye. The fallen soldiers lying around the field was a testament to the fury of the battle between the two warring factions. These bodies included both the Sol Federation and Thorian Empire. Some had holes entirely blown through them, and their armor, by the plasma rifles the Thorian Empire’s shock troops used. Others showed the brutal wounds of combat with hard light melee weapons, limbs that had been hacked off, disemb
  6. Thanks everyone. Reading your responses have helped me overcome my derailment. I went back, & looked at the Main Characters, & decided to flesh them out a bit better. I do take notes. I used to do Pen & Paper notes, but now use the One Note feature that came with Windows 10. With it syncing with One Drive, I can access those notes from anywhere. Thank you all again.
  7. I have been wondering about this myself. Stories posted here, I've ran into a few with Small Chapters (5 pages in Word, as an example.), & some with Huge Chapters (can be a stand-alone novel!). Was wondering where a good in-between point was, so thank you for the above discussion.
  8. When you set out to tell a new story, what do you do first? 1. Do an outline first of what you want? ie. world type, character type, starting point, end point 2. Develop the Main Character concept? 3. Free-form write to get started? 4. Slap down a Title, write Prologue, & have at it! I often start option 2, in the private little stories I write for myself, & a few friends. However, in the story I'm writing for this site (not published as of today), I had a very basic idea, & jumped right in. I'm now a couple of "chapters" in, & I feel like I'm loosing the character element. So, what's your process when you set out?
  9. For me, as a reader, unlikable characters as the main are alright. I like the Bad Boys, as much as I like the goody two-shoes. Just as long as they don't degrade into a Mary Sue, Gary Stu type character. Back when the Dragonlance Saga from TSR/WotC/Hasbro was first being published, Raistlin Majere & Dalamar the Dark were two of my favorites. (Granted this was High School. Reading those stories now, not sure how I feel about them.) Raistlin by far was a Major Main Character to the world. He was an evil person. He did stuff that you hated. But, you ended up loving him for it. Just my two-cents.

    Chapter 1

Very great start! Left me wanting more.
  11. Hello! After reading a story on Nifty, I saw the Author had linked the story to this site. So, decided to stop by. Like what I saw. Hopefully, I can do a few stories of my own!
  12. Read this on Nifty. Looking forward to more!
