    Chapter 79

Wow! 6 out of 7 emoji reactions Cal. This really is turning out to be a hick town, complete with hate spewing yokels. Thank goodness Donnie is back.

    Chapter 78

Arseholes adding Arson and murder charges to rape, coercion, and others. By time Judge gets through with Bruce he'll never see the light of day, ASSuming he can stop wearing knee pads with Bubba and jailhouse fiends. I'd suggest Gen Pop, but that would end his suffering too soon. He needs to play for his sins, before a trip to where an upside down bar stool awaits.

    Chapter 76

This family is like a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Or perhaps a person with a lit cigarette walking through a storeroom of dynamite. Just waiting for ...
  4. Thank you for this chapter. I have to keep reminding myself of two things: 1. That (according to history) not all wars are alike, other than premise; 2. The time-frame of this story is 1939-45 WW II, and homosexuality was not permitted, and could get you seriously harmed, jailed, killed. So Karl and George have so much to loose. Finally, you said: ".. the transition was much too brutal..." which if 'foreshadowing' make me dreading what's to come. 😨

  6. I also read this over the last two days, and had a suspicion after the 2nd chapter where and how this story was going to end. Despite loving to swim, there's always been an 'unknown' with open water, especially dark water. Doesn't matter if a river, lake or ocean. But it's worse where there's a possibility of danger, rip-tides or worse. Jake wasn't too blame. Both he a Ryan could've been trapped in the same 'rip', but maybe between them they'd have remembered to swim parallel until they reach shore or shallow water and safety. Or not. In the end, Jake will have a lifetime to hopefully work through this. Hopefully when they finally meet up there'll be the forgiveness Jake needs. Another good, but sad, story Dan.

    Chapter 75

My 'angry' emoji has nothing to do with the chapter writing which was very good. It has to do with the attitude of certain members of the judiciary system (DA) who get to decide what's 'worthy' of their consideration. Whether that's LGBTQ2+, BIPOC, Indigenous (Native American) or anyone else. For those reading from outside the U.S. and may not be aware, in the U.S. the senior 'people' (DA's, judges in addition to politicians) are elected. Rich needs to remind his newspaper readers who are members of disadvantaged groups to get off their butts and VOTE these WOS ( Waste of Skin) OUT of Office.

Another very good chapter Carlos, adding new characters who may help broaden CJ's perspectives or at the very least tweak them a bit. CJ adroitly responding (rather than answering) questions about his future intentions? People in virtually all walks of life sometimes need to deflect queries. No harm, no foul. As for certain 'comments', there's a fine line between critique and criticism. Then there are people who don't understand either and prefer to trash anything that doesn't fit their personal mindset or ideology. Not that long ago 'people' commenting in that manner on this site about 'Agent Orange' et al (as CJ says), were taken to the woodshed and reprimanded. Your response was appropriate and measured.

    Erupt Ch 10

I sense some rumblings about to occur, and not all of them will be volcanic or seismic in origin. Perhaps an eruption at UNBF when a certain Dean blows his top 🌋 (over not having his 15 minutes in the media spotlight)? Hopefully nothing that lands 🛩️ Carson in hot water.

    Chapter 3

Andre, Walk On has been such a treat to read, far beyond simple "enjoyment". Like Never walk alone, you do more than just tell a story, you welcome us into the settings like we are there. Your own personal travels are clearly reflected in how you describe events taking place. Drew and Ryan have a wonderful time introducing Lisbeth and Cam (and Rascal) as well as David and Janice to western Canada. Then their trip to Disney World made my heart soar. Meeting again with Joan, Dan and families, it was great to see how welcome Ryan, Drew and family are; almost extended relatives and not just friends. I eagerly look forward to what's to come. Tony B (aka Anton). Ps. You have me desperately looking for Bobotie. Have to check with my local Boerewors supplier. Having the South African Embassy here in Ottawa encourages availability.

    Chapter 73

Separate No-Tell Motel Register 📖may show names of other 'visitors' who don't want to be exposed, like police, judges, town officials and more. Also if the owner keeps a '2nd set of books' that hide 'guests' he's likely not declaring income and paying taxes. There's a reason behind sayings like: "Don't poke the bear" 🐻 and "Don't disturb a hornets 🐝 nest". Don't stir up trouble! Tim and Stephen may have made a bad situation worse if 'others' don't want their 'dirty little secrets' to be made public. By doing so have they put a larger target on their backs 🧨 or family and friends? Will Donnie visit Tim to warn him?

As I'm reading this I have a strong sense of déjà vu Preston. As for Edgar, back in the day, parents who didn't know how to cope with children with 'Special needs', doctors would far too frequently "strongly suggest" institutionalizing them. If, as we suspect that Edgar is 'highly functioning' despite being "on The Spectrum", he could live with either his elder brother Austin in his Gran's home which he probably remembers, or with Oscar and his 'guardians' Mr. and Mrs. Castalia. Next?

    Chapter 69

Tommy teaching at an All Girls School could mean he's using it as a shield, thinking that's the last place people would look (doesn't need to make sense); or that he's using it to get to vulnerable girls, or that he's trying to make amends. Don't know which to bet on. Taking AM's psych doctor along to the dinner out is a good thing, just in case things go sideways. But Mom is still a big question mark. There's something going on there. Tim's right though, he and Stephen have to get back to their own lives (and Donnie makes three. Perhaps Donnie is being kept or trapped here waiting for everything to work out so he can ascend?). I know sounds like the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze. Boo. 👻

    A & L Ch 12

Preston, @quokka you know how some TV shows (films and authors) have 'crossover' episodes that unite and interact with characters from two different stories? Here's a thought. Wouldn't it be interesting for Sebastian to be informed through a 3rd Party* that his 200 year 'titled' lineage that supposedly ended in 1934 (when his mother and Huon's were alive), did not 'die' for lack of a male heir, and indeed both sisters were 'titled' Duchess unknown to them. Since 'Dukedoms' are hereditary and can even skip 1 generation, the Duchy titles would then pass to their sons - Sebastian and Huon. This discovery, the result of a certain *Swedish Crown Princess, so enamored of Kyle and Xander's singing in the Royal Chapel, that she investigated more about them. As a consequence of retrieving the titles of Duke, Seb's from Austria and Huon's ceding to Alexander Hugh (for Huon) Davenport from UK, they run into Edwin Fordell. Revives the Fordell story, where business interests of both Edwin and Seb could intermingle, especially with Xander's land holdings on the Isle of Man (purchased with part of Huon's share in WII). TAH-DAH. Tony B. (Aka Anton)

"We will probably be out for the rest of the day, and be back just before dark,” I said to my good friend. I think Mother Nature and Vulcan, the ancient Roman god of fires (ergo volcanoes), may suddenly prove Carson wrong, and to be in imminent danger. ( this is where natives could have thrown Dean Flint into the volcano's gaping maw to appease the gods). DANGER...💥 🌋 🚨 . 🛩️

    Chapter 68

GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK CAL, and that GA got it sorted out! There is a fine legal line Tim and Stephen may be about to cross. The facts that in Tim's State where the rape(s) occured the Statute of Limitations to file Criminal charges has expired, and that when these crimes originally occured police laid no charges speaks volumes. The newspaper article as it stands is informing the public and encouraging anyone with information to come forward. The changes Tim wants to add to the story, "Legal Action is Pending involving a large sum of money. This Action is being brought by one of the women who these young men accosted.” may be seen by as an Inducement - "offering the promise of money in return for testimony", that could be argued by Defense Lawyers as 'heresay' with no evidence (police reports, medical files, rape kits etc). Recent court cases have shown that to the case, whether in terms of a president or a popsicle pusher. An attorney, without a personal agenda, would know that and act appropriately. Or I'm completely off base.
  18. "...a calming influence..."? Oh I think Oz has quite the opposite effect on CJ, at least in terms of getting a rise out of him. But not an 'angry' one. (Okay, I'm being baad.) Despite not being married for a long time, CJ and Oz do have a 'shorthand' between them where they just are so 'tuned in' to each other. It's fun to watch. And it shows how well you write Carlos! Again with Northman? He's certainly not winning any friends or influencing people among the Embassy 'family'. (apologies to Dale Carnegie). However there may be a solution. I've been told the military has a unique perspective on treating people 'full of themselves'. The saying is: "Give them a high colonic, a full pack, and send them on a 40 Klick hike". 💩 Thanks again for another wonderful chapter. Tony B Ps. Bolshoi (and fall out from that evening) not coming up until chapter 17? Bad that we have to wait that long. GOOD as it means more chapters after that. I'll take it.

My goodness 'Preston' this is certainly a lot of updating to take in. While I was sad that Alex chose not to at least visit Deepdale Island to see what his Dad Huon had created, I also recognize that like Huon himself, perhaps it was time to move on to the next step. Indeed, it seems that a lot of moving on, and leaving things behind, is happening. Sir Lewis has returned to his Administrator (Governor General?) appointment of IOTA and all that entails. Similarly, with their marriage irrevocably over, Sebastian has undertaken a huge shift away from Australia and back to Wagner Corps EU HQ along with his two younger brothers (who we hope to see from time to time 😪). The properties and holdings he has gifted has been substantial as well as mindful. Mrs. Cooper has her home 🏘️ and an investment property. Rev Davies and Kyle (and his twin sons Huon and Alexander) now own Deepdale Station which will have significant meaning to Kyle. Now lets see what adventures await Alex and Lang, for as we've seen in the past, this 'family' is a never ending story.

So ad about Kyle's wife Sue passing. Although Kyle is returning home to Australia with their sons, Huon 11 and Alexander 9 to bury Sue's ashes, I suspect Alex will meet up with them in the near future as he is found of his God sons. We now have some insight into Seb's recent behaviour vis-à-vis Alex's business decisions.

    Chapter 2

Andre: Thank you for this wonderful second book 'Never walk alone- Walk on'. It is well written and edited. I was so entranced with your first book and the story of how Andrew and Ryan got together and their lives journey began. 'Never walk alone' is a virtual travelogue for anyone who has or wanted to visit South Africa. Now, 6 years on, we are journeying along with the entire Devlin-Major clan including their children 'Lisabeth' and Cameron, their parents (grandparents) David and Janice and of course Rascal (thanks to the 'poetic licence') who makes the family complete. Their trip through western Canada, especially the Banff to Vancouver portion is remarkably written. And now it's on to The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, where I expect the kids (and adults) to be wide-eyed with grins from ear to ear. (And hopefully drama free). As for @drsawzall "big as hippos" comment, everyone knows calories don't count while in vacation. It only adds on when you get home. Andre, this story, during this all too 'real' time of pandemic globally but especially in your South Africa (and my Canada) is truly a welcome escape. Thank you. Tony B. (aka Anton). for the kiddies

Actually, Sir William 'Billy' Connolly, CBE fessed up to not being the creator of that joke, but putting his unique spin on it. His Scottish father and my Scottish grandfather were the same age. The 'original' Glasgow version of that joke was made in reference to much despised Solicitors and went like this: "Why do Scots bury Solicitors with their pale white arses sticking out of the dirt? So the wee ones (kiddies) have some place to put their bicycles". Funnier due to the number of solicitors?

Actually there is a more likely explanation of what the painting portrays, and why it was so special to Austin's Grandmother. Edgar, (having been put in facility to provide care his parents was incapable of), may not have known about Oscar. This painting by him, reflects something he may have seen or been told about by his Gran. He imagines himself being there, seeing his big brother Austin on the swing, and he - Edgar holding the hand of his mother he wished he could be doing.

Pain in the fatASS Dean Flint would have overloaded 'TO6-4' with attitude and ego alone, even without extra students and luggage/instruments. Hopefully Carson made sure University paid their 1/2 of costs UPFRONT. (as virtually every charter company does). Under ideal flight conditions (rare), flight time & distance (approx 2485 nmi) at 140-150 kt and range of 800-900 nmi with 70% total load (including full tanks) is pretty close with seasonal winds. Stronger NW headwinds are frequent in heading toward norther Alberta in NWT and YK. Personally I'd overnight at Regina (CYQR) approximately 1/2 way.
