    Trust Issues

It's awesome, it's sad, it's depressing, it's unfair. I'm happy, angry, upset, and excited. Yep - seems totally on par.

    Chapter 8

    It's a Lego (™) head.

    Chapter 2

It's not something I do a lot in my stories, but I always listen to music when I'm writing them, and sometimes, it's just the right fit. If I could make the reader hear Mamm Cass as they read through that moment, I absolutely would, but I can't, so I appreciate your effort And I really hope you enjoy the story.

    Chapter 2

Hey - it's good to have you back I hope you enjoy the story (again).

    Homecoming

Isn’t it great when exactly what should happen, actually happens!
  6. You're making me nervous @mogwhy, I think I'm going to postpone reading his earlier stuff until I'm feeling more robust
  7. I'm not clear on the mechanics, but it's hard to believe that a Promising Author status isn't heading towards @Aceinthehole some time soon if he carries on like this.
  8. I'm giving up on even mentally noting favourite chapters now, it's clearly a mugs game Thanks again for yet more awesomosity.

    One More Reason

There's so much energy, it's just... wow!
  10. Yeah, I've not read his other stuff yet, but this could be too good to be true. I hope not though.
  11. These guys are so cute together. As much as I'm loving this story, I can't wait for (what absolutely needs to happen, don't even think about messing my world up!) a time when there's less sadness in their lives.
  12. Thanks for another really awesome recommendation. I've just finished reading (yes, and reviewing) and I have no hesitation in prodding anyone towards it.

    Jake's Hand

I've just finished reading this (thanks for another otherwise entirely unproductive morning!) and I think you should too. The story is beautifully crafted, with a gentle pace that never quite slows down enough for you to get bored, just impatient to find out how things go next. And of course, how they go is totally worth finding out on your own, so I'm not going to spoil that here. @Headstall has already taken "mesmerising" and "captivating" (and frankly, I'd trust his choice of words more than my own), so I'll go with wonderful. The characters are richly formed and developed, and (for the most part anyway) entirely believable. I guess that's where the 'wonder' of wonderful really comes in.

    Beach Day!

I like the change of pace, it gives me a break from constantly feeling on edge about every single sentence
  15. People toss round phrases like 'emotional roller coaster' all the time, but here, it's actually an understatement. There's love, for sure, (and eventually), but theres also so much pain, and heartache, and moments that make you want to scream. This story is epic, in pretty much every way, and I'm very grateful that I was pointed towards it. Just... give yourself plenty of time, I've just wiped out an entire day - and it's worth every damn second.
  16. Well that was... intense. Not that it hasn't been so far, but you really know how to up the stakes. Thanks for doing such a great job telling this story.
  17. Yes - there are absolutely parts of me in every story i write, but there are also some aspects that I really can’t ever imagine including, it would just be too hard.
  18. That is a great scene, and a truly awesome song! You've Reminded me of it now, so I’m listening as I reply, and also thinking that I need to add this to my writing playlist for a new character That’s floating around.
  19. Oh - that doesn’t sound like a fun moment of realisation
  20. Thanks - I’m happy to take ‘fabulous’ And yes, whilst I haven’t read the post you mention, I think I know what you mean. If only capturing everything that is in my head (wow, what a terribly frightening idea) was possible.
  21. I’m not usually a fan of sequels - I think Jurassic Park (The Lost World, what were you thinking) and Speed (Speed 2, it’s simply appalling) have a large part to play in that, but I read this anyway because, well, it’s @Ronyx, if anyone deserves a chance it’s him. I was not disappointed. You should definitely read Brittle As A Bird first. Even though this story does well on it’s own, you can’t properly appreciate the broader character development or the painful difficulty of the emotions unless you’ve already seen where they come from. And yet, I feel bad for saying that, because this really is a great story anyway. As seems typical of @Ronyx, you’re not exactly inundated with rainbows, unicorns, and explosions of glittery joy. In fact, you often have to look really bloody hard to find any trace of their existence at all. It’s too lazy to call it ‘gritty’, but there’s a harshness to the reality portrayed here which for me at least made it all the more enticing. Oh, and, you also get the meet one of the cutest kids ever.

    Chapter 14

Awesome story, thank you for sharing (even if you do make the rest of us / me feel very amateurish) The ending was just right.
  23. You’re right of course, I do get help already here on GA and I’m very grateful. I guess today is particularly manic, so asking the question ‘out loud’ AKA posting it here is just one less thing in my head.
  24. Thanks - I’ll take a look. I’m definitely not going to be posting anything until the whole thing is done, it’s way too much pressure otherwise!
  25. On the back of my last post here, maybe what I need is a writing coach? Is there even such a thing? If I went to the gym (let’s Just pretend OK?), then I could get a personal trainer type person to stand next to me and shout at me. Yes, yes, I know, they do more than that, but part of their role is to prompt, to encourage, to push you that bit harder, isn’t it? I feel like I would benefit from this for writing. Not some gym bunny standing next to me shouting, but that regular push, a reminder that isn’t just an app that I can close and ignore, something to help me stay focussed. What do you think? Want a (not at all paid) job?
