  1. Yes, thanks I actually use LibreOffice (it's basically the same) on my desktop mac if I need to, but if I can get Pages to play then I can be fully iOS compliant for those 'out of office' days.
  2. Thanks - I made the same mistake
  3. Yes, I'm going to have to experiment with Pages as I don't really want Word just for that, but I think something like you're method is going to be the answer for me.
  4. Where do I find out about the Halloween Short Story Contest?
  5. This definitely hasn't been experience - but maybe that's more about my workflow than anything else, it presumably works perfect well for most people.
  6. I'd recommend Weekend https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weekend_(2011_film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1714210/ Edit: I found a YouTube trailer so you can all see it
  7. It's properly amazing! As a newbie, thanks for bringing it to my attention I've just binged the whole thing.
  8. Wow - I've just binged this completely, and now I'm (still not actually) rescheduling my day to account for my 'lost' morning. Am I the slightest bit annoyed or frustrated? Absolutely not. This is an incredible story of love against the odds, and keeps giving you more and more with every chapter. I'm pretty new here, so wasn't around when it was first published, so thank you so much for highlighting it and bringing it to me. Of course reading it now does have the distinct advantage of not having to wait for the next chapter because it was bad enough when I went to make coffee TL;DR you should read it

    Chapter 8

I imagine (which is a lie, because I know what happens) that one of the few certainties in this world is that Kati will have an opinion Thanks for your comments, it's great to know you are enjoying the story.

    Chapter 8

Stuff happened, time passed - whatever, I don’t really care right now. It’s Monday morning, 9.45am, and I’m walking towards the bar for my interview at 10.00am. I feel - and this is no exaggeration - like I’m fucking perfect. I know that I look great, my boyfriend loves me, and I told him I love him too, the sun is shining, the birds are making bird noises like they do. In short - it’s all fucking awesome. All that needs to happen now, is for whoever is doing the interviewing to see what is
  12. Hi I'm having a problem, and I'm hoping that somone can help. I write in Scrivener, and whilst I have it very nicely set up for all of my other tasks, getting stuff into GA seems to be a complete nightmare. Mostly, as far as I can tell, this is because the final text on GA is rendered differently to the editor display, and you can't see the formatting marks to help you spot any problems. This is mostly a spacing/no spacing/accidental double spacing issue. I'm new here, so if I'm already wrong e.g. you can show formatting) then please tell me So my question is, does anyone have a good workflow for getting something that looks OK In Scrivener into GA. I may well be missing something easy or obvious, I'm not above that. It would also be great if this worked in iOS (through not essential, I do have a regular mac) because despite the GA opinion that they 'are not content creation devices', in the real world they really are, and I spend a lot of time working on one. Thanks Sam

    Chapter 12

I know what you all mean, Troy is getting a bit annoying and melodramatic, but I'm sure that if that had happened to me I'd be getting depressed and irrationally pissed off about everything too. I still have hope that Jayden will persevere, or a least be persuaded to.

I should definitely steal this comment as a tag line or something, thanks!

But it always takes more than sex, doesn't it?

    Chapter 7

When I sell the rights for the film I'll ensure there's a suitable sound effect. Great to hear you're enjoying it so far.

    Chapter 7

Thanks - I aim for a balance of realistic and actually interesting, so it's good to hear that I'm getting it close enough
  18. So... just... wow. I'm not really sure how I happened to start reading this, as it's way outside of what I would usually find interesting. But thank you, it's a truly wonderful read. And now, I think I'll go and see what else you have created as I wait for what must surely, please, be a right and proper conclusion and victory for love.

    Chapter 7

A couple of weeks went by, all very easy, very nice, and yeah, kinda boring. I talked to Jen a lot about things, even though I’m still not really sure why. But it seemed that lots of our talking always came back to the same - pretty fucking obvious - solution. I need to get a job. My usually excellent skills at being evasive never really seemed to work with Jen, so I ended up telling her about being in prison, and how that probably meant it would be really hard to get proper work. And as us

    Chapter 6

Tuesday kind of drifted by in a similar but less stressful version of Monday. I didn’t really do anything, and enjoyed doing it. Davey came home pretty early, and I’ve got to say it’s quite fucking nice having someone excited to see you. Wednesday morning, Davey said that he’ll be late home, and that he will usually be late on Wednesdays and Thursdays. “Why? What happens on a Wednesday and Thursday?” “I have class. I’ll be home by 8.00pm though.” “Class?” “Yes, I teach

    Chapter 4

It's a fair criticism. To be honest, back when I wrote this I wasn't really conscious of the social responsibility/influence that you can have as a writer, it was 'just' a story.

Thanks! I hope you enjoy the new-ish end, when it eventually gets posted

    Chapter 5

6.30am is fucking early. The alarm waking me up was insistent to say the least, and Davey was apparently already up as I was in bed alone. Having hit the alarm in several different ways before it shut the fuck up, I got out of bed and found some clean boxers. Making my way towards the kitchen, I was accosted by a single bark. “Hi Scarlett” I said, as if the dog could actually understand me, before she trotted past me and into the bedroom - which I assume she believes is actually her be
